SYNERGY BETWEEN THE YOUTH AND A SECURED NATION: AN ATTEMPT TO DEVELOP NIGERIA THROUGH POLITICS AND ELECTORAL REMINISCENCE
Insecurity is another factor battling the political development of Nigeria. It has been observed over the years that no amount of political awareness of the populace, the country will remain underdeveloped politically until this issue is resolved. However, the youths have a lot of roles to play in order to restore the thrust in the government through their participation in the political process and combating with all their strengths the insecurity of the nation. The study therefore aims at examining these roles and some of the impacts of the persistent insecurity on political development in the country. Survey research method with the use of questionnaire to garner responses from various stakeholders and politicians was adopted by the researcher. System Theory was used to navigate the study with expected findings. The result of findings of the study shows that the youths can participate actively in the political affairs of the nation by; joining political parties of their choice, shunning all political violence, engaging in peaceful political rallies and campaigns and ultimately vying for elective positions in the country. It also identifies political apathy, low turnout of voters during elections, disinterest in politics, lack of trust in the leadership and fear of death and intimidation as some impacts of insecurity on political participation of the youths in Nigeria. The study thereby recommends that; godliness, provision of employment opportunities by the government, secured borders, good parental care etc will improve on the security state of the nation

THE PREFERENCE OF FOREIGN-BASED (MIGRANT) PLAYERS OVER HOME-BASED PLAYERS IN THE SUPER EAGLES OF NIGERIA: A COLORATION OF ‘COLONIAL MENTALITY’
Nigeriais blessed with talented footballers. There abound Nigerian players in the Nigeria Professional Football League and foreign leagues. The Nigeria Football Federation(NFF) is in charge of running football in Nigeria as it superintends over the Nigerian national football teams and recruit coaches. Both home-based and foreign-based players were always invited to the camp of the Super Eagles when there was a competition. However, when it was time for the final list to be drawn there might not be any home-based players in the list or there might be an insignificant number that might end up not playing in such competition. There has been a lot of talk on the preference of foreign-based players over home-based players in the Super Eagles team.Hence, this study analyses the rate of selection in terms of percentage of home-based and foreign-based players in the Super Eagles team by some selected foreign and Nigerian coaches. The Hamitic hypothesis of Seligman is applied to show the nexus to the preference for foreign-based players. This study makes use of primary and tertiary sources of data.Findings reveal that not only foreign coaches solely relied on foreign-based players, as some Nigerian coaches were equally masterminds of the unpatriotic act. Also, home-based players can be instrumental to performance of the team as was displayed in the 1990 and 2013 African Cup of Nations. This study recommends that a law should be passed forcing the coach to include at least four home-based players on the field of play whenever the team is in action
WOMEN PARTICIPATION IN POLITICS: THE NIGERIAN AND ANGOLA EXPERIENCE
Women's political participation is a key indicator of democracy, gender equality, and human development. However, women in Africa face many barriers and challenges to access and exercise their political rights and influence decision-making processes. This paper examines the factors that affect women's political participation and representation in Nigeria and Angola, two African countries with different historical, cultural, and political contexts. The paper address issues such as the Women’s Political Participation: Africa Barometer 2021, the Working Paper on Women’s Political Participation and its Predictors in Northern and Southern Nigeria, the Call for Papers on Women’s Equal and Effective Participation in Political and Public Life, the Report on The Power to Change: Women’s Participation and Representation in Africa, and the Briefs on Women’s Political Participation by UN Women. For the purpose of this paper, information was gathered from documentary sources and analyzed using content analysis. Cultural Modernity Theory propounded by Zygmunt Bauman (2011) was used as a framework of analysis. The finding showed that women participation in politics has increased significantly in Nigeria and Angola. The paper therefore recommends strengthening the implementation and enforcement of affirmative action measures, such as gender quotas, at all levels of government and across all branches of power
CREDIBILITY COMMITMENT AND PEACE BUILDING IN THE NIGER DELTA REGION OF NIGERIA
The occurrence of conflict is predicated on several factors. While some are caused by the neglect of early warning mechanisms, others are as a result of subversive reactions to disproportionate distribution of resources and power; and or failed interventions to the conflict. The conflict in the Niger Delta region of Nigeria has been primarily driven by grievances related to resource exploitation, environmental degradation, and socio-economic marginalization. Despite various intervention efforts aimed at addressing these issues and fostering peace, the region continues to experience periodic resurgences of violence. This study examines the critical factor of credibility commitment in the context of peacebuilding initiatives of the federal government of Nigeria and its influence on the resurgence of the conflict in the Niger Delta region. The method of data gathering is drawn from literature and biographic narratives of the actors and victims of the conflict. The study notes that credibility, whether perceived or actual, plays a vital role in the success of peacebuilding efforts in conflict societies. When stakeholders, including government authorities, international organizations, and local communities, perceive intervention programs as lacking credibility or sincerity, trust is eroded, and the likelihood of conflict resurgence increases. Furthermore, a lack of commitment to addressing underlying grievances and root causes of conflict, and implementing sustainable solutions, undermines the effectiveness of peacebuilding initiatives

Drawing upon influential communication theories such, this paper conducts a comprehensive analysis of their fundamental premises and concepts. It explores the extent to which these theories can effectively explain and analyze communication phenomena within the realm of cyber communication, characterized by social media, online forums, instant messaging, and other digital platforms. Through a synthesis of empirical research and scholarly discourse, this paper highlights the challenges and opportunities associated with the application of traditional theories in the digital age. It argues for the need to adapt and modify these theories to account for the unique characteristics of cyber communication, including networked connectivity, user-generated content, and algorithmic influence. A nuanced understanding of the socio-cultural, technological, and contextual factors shaping digital communication practices is emphasized. It underscores the importance of considering the dynamic interplay between technology, society, and communication processes. By bridging the gap between traditional theories and contemporary digital communication practices, this paper aims to enrich our understanding of the evolving communication landscape

SURVIVING HUMANITARIAN CRISIS IN NIGERIA: COPING STRATEGIES OF INTERNALLY DISPLACED PERSONS (IDP) IN BENUE STATE, NORTHCENTRAL, NIGERIA
For more than two decades now, farmers-herders’ crisis have rendered more than 1.5 million people displaced, and several hundred maimed and killed. Although internally displaced persons remain the sole responsibility of Government, while CSOs gives helping hand, Government have failed to bring a lasting solution to the protracted war; relationship between CSOs and State have been described to be inchoate and adversarial leading to further failure in the role of complementarity expected to bring succour to the IDP. The IDP therefore remain in very inhabitable conditions, for which they have to, through resilience, design survival strategies for themselves as individuals, households and community. Although literature abound on IDP in Benue state, less has been done to theoretically and empirically foreground and document the means of survival by the internally displaced persons in the face of state fragility. It is this yawning gap this study intends to fill. The study argues that government and CSOs inchoate interventions have left the IDP with the option of fending for their needs; and this, have led to reducing sufferings, as well as lessening dependence on epileptic humanitarian aids; thereby enhancing and self-reliance. Drawing from the human needs theory, this study examines displacement and its impact on productivity, IDP needs, interventions and coping strategies. Qualitative approach was adopted to include primary and secondary sources. Primary sources include oral interviews; such as key informant interviews, and in-depth interviews; with the aid of unstructured interview guide. Secondary sources include published scholarly works. Collected data were qualitatively analysed, using descriptive statistics. Findings reveal CSOs and State inadequacies in meeting the basic needs of the IDP; this have made the IDP to resort to street begging, petty stealing in and outside IDP camps; prostitution among aged women, adult ladies, teenagers and even children or minors; the study establishes that inadequate care to the IDP can lead to epidemics breakout, internal insecurity for the IDP and the community hosting them; thereby leading to environmental and community security threats. The study recommends skills development centres for IDP; actionable policies to end the crisis leading to displacement; and the need for all stakeholders to focus on sustainable development interventions, rather than just relief interventions
