THE IMPLICATIONS OF TERRORISM ON FOOD PRICES IN NIGERIA
Nigeria as a nation has been overshadowed by terrorism since 2009 in Borno state where it started as a fight against western education until it aggravated to the destruction of lives and properties in several towns and cities of the country. Farmers are not left out in this mayhem as some were killed and injured on their farms, thus creating a scenario where people are afraid to go to their farms for fear of being maimed and killed. This whole development has led to a decline in food production which has further resulted in the sharp rise in the prices of food which has made lives difficult for the common man. In view of these occurrences , this paper examines the implications of terrorism on the recent prices of food and our empirical results shows that terrorism has a negative effect on the prices of food in the country .The study adopted the descriptive analysis of secondary data to examine the effects of terrorism on food prices in the nation .The study will examine the topic in detail and based on this ,the following policy recommendations will be put forward which includes government providing securities for farmers by using the non-biased military to silent the insurgents, adopt a registration data of herders with government which will capture all operating herders in Nigerian states for easy tracking of any misbehavior, provide employment for our jobless youths who had become instruments in the hands of terrorist promoters, and above all, Nigerian government should adopt State police for a better protection of our rural areas and communities

GEOPOLITICAL VARIATION IN THE REPORTAGE OF SECURITY BY THE NATION AND DAILY TRUST NEWSPAPERS (2010-2020): A PROGNOSIS
This study explores the geopolitical trajectory in the reportage of security issues in Nigeria by The Nation and Daily Trust newspapers between 2010 and 2020.The two national dailies have within the period under study engaged reckless reportage of insecurity news in the geopolitics of information dissemination, which endangers the lives of many innocent Nigerians in order to favour their states of operation and deepen acceptability in their constituencies, hence promoting unhealthy Northern and Southern dichotomy to the detriment of national security. The main objective of the study is to unveil and measure the geopolitical variation in the coverage of security threat bedevilling the country by The Nation and Daily Trust newspapers between 2010-2020.The study employs content analysis. For the content analysis, front page and editorial columns were identified as units of analysis, whereby five (5) frames tagged by the research as geopoliticization, glorification, escalation, de-escalation and neutral (GEOGLOESDEN) were content analysed. The study hinged on Framing Theory as the theoretical framework. The study depicts that the ownership control has made The Nation and Daily Trust newspapers to report security challenges in a subjective manner, thus, promoting the existing Northern and Southern dichotomy in their reportage of security situation. The two national dailies are expected to be nationalistic and report security issue in an objective manner instead of framing narratives that can exacerbate tension. The study, therefore, recommended among other things that The Nation and Daily Trust newspapers should strive hard to outgrow reporting insecurity based on geopolitical disposition as a way in bridging the menace of insecurity in Nigeria. They should strive hard to engage in an in-depth and analytical reportage of security threats without giving credence to subjective and speculative information

PERSPECTIVES ON THE CHALLENGES TO THE WATCHDOG FUNCTION OF THE MEDIA IN NIGERIA
The study sought to find out the challenges to the watchdog function of the media, and the impact of these challenges on democracy and the people. The study is anchored on Agenda Setting Theory of the Press. Library Research Method was employed to generate secondary data for the study. The study has shown that the media as a watchdog of the society cannot achieve desired result in Nigeria, because our institutions are weak, compromised or corrupt and power does not reside in the people. This means that, no matter how the media try to ensure accountability in government it can hardly succeed when our institutions are weak and compromised. The study has also shown that, weak institutions and the fact that power does not reside in the electorates, is gradually paving way for kakistocracy and centralization of power. This means that the Executive arm (President) is becoming too powerful. This is true in that findings revealed that, the Supreme Court in Nigeria will never remove a sitting President, however deeply flawed his election may be, because the judiciary is weak and corrupt. Again it was revealed that, INEC deliberately rigged the 2023 Presidential Elections because Amazon that was engaged to provide technical support said, there was no glitch with the result viewing portals on February 2023. This shows that both INEC and the Judiciary are weak and compromised. Institutions of the state will continue to remain weak and useless until people who work in such institutions do the right thing. Findings revealed that, both public and private media owners have a lot of influence on the media they operate and these owners, have used their media organizations to: influence public opinion, which is also another form of impediment to the watchdog role of the media It was concluded that, the watchdog function of the media cannot bring about the desired accountability, good governance and dividends of democracy in a country where the institutions are weak and power does not reside in the electorates .It was recommended that heads of the various institutions of the state should not be appointed by the President and our institutions must be allowed to function without fear or favour

IMPLICATION OF COMMUNALISM IN CHILD-TRAINING IN ANCIENT ISRAEL AND TRADITIONAL YORUBA SETTING FOR MORAL EDUCATION IN CONTEMPORARY NIGERIA
It is a known fact, from the available data, that Nigeria as a nation is extremely riddled with corrupt practices, violence, crimes, and lack of peace, mutual faith and trust. Our civilization, ranging from population explosion, rapid technology advancement, knowledge expansion, industrialization, globalization, mobilization and influence of foreign cultures, is unconsciously conflicting with African moral principles that value human dignity, rights and responsibilities. It is never an exaggeration to posit that there is currently continuous erosion of human values and relation which had been deeply ingrained in African culture. It is quite repulsive today that adults are less enthusiastic about moral education inculcation. They are now stimulated by the general alluring economic consideration without any reference to old age human values that separate man from animals. Thus, moral rectitude is now an elusive principle among our youths, with many becoming notoriously gargantuan in the web of shameful fissiparous tendencies. This certainly poses multiple problems of anxiety, stress and worries to humanity. Meanwhile, through careful probing of records, it is evident that communalism, as one of the most ancient unifying cultural mechanisms in Child-Training, had been deliberately preserved in ancient Israelite and Yoruba cultures. Previous studies on Israelite and Yoruba moral education focused largely on human values, child education, wisdom, eldership and respect, with little attention paid to communal effort in Child-Training as preserved in the two cultures. Besides, the similarities between Yoruba understanding of communalism in Child-Training and that of the Israelite moral tradition have not been adequately explored. Filling this gap, this paper examines the implication of communalism in Child-Training in ancient Israel and traditional Yoruba setting for moral education in contemporary Nigeria. Biblical texts and 30 purposively selected Yoruba proverbs were the primary data. Historical-critical method was utilised in the interpretation of both Biblical texts and the selected Yoruba proverbs. The paper recommends that parenting should be more of a communal enterprise; it should involve the entire community and not be limited to the parents of the children. Biological parents should also appreciate communal efforts in Child-Training
GLOBALIZATION, COVID-19 PANDEMIC AND THE SITUATION IN AFRICA
The outbreak of the Covid-19 pandemic in Wuhan, China, in December 2019 is closely linked to present global economic meltdown. Today, many African countries are still struggling to recover from the negative effects of the Covid-19 pandemic on their respective economy. Therefore, this study seeks to examine the influence of globalization on the spread of the Covid-19 pandemic and the situation in Africa. Moreover, secondary sources of data such as books, journals, and online resources was used for this study while content analysiswas used to analyse the data collected. However, this study is situated within the globalists perspective. The studyargues that globalisation contributed to the spread of the Covid-19 epidemic in Africa. This study argues that the Covid-19 virus spread from Wuhan in China, to other parts of the world within a very short time, due to movement of persons across international borders. The study also argues that many African countries' economies are currently experiencing extreme pressure, which has overstretched their economy. Lastly, the influence of globalisation on the spread of the Covid-19 cannot be overemphasised because it has significantly impacted on African states capacity to develop. As a result, African states should place more emphasis on the advantages of globalisation than on how it facilitates the spread oftheCovid-19Pandemic
A META ANALYSIS OF NIGERIA’S POPULATION CENSUS RESULTS FALSIFICATION AND ITS IMPLICATIONS
Demographic data obtained from population census serves as a fundamental basis for national development planning, revenue distribution, state establishment, local government creation, constituency delineation, and parliamentary representation. The significance of a precise and dependable population census in national development planning cannot be overstated. Despite its importance, population data in Nigeria is plagued by issues of inaccuracy and unreliability, often resulting in perceived falsification. Falsified population data can have adverse effects on a country's socioeconomic and political progress. This study employed an Armchair research approach to examine the falsification of population census outcomes in Nigeria and its repercussions. By delving into the historical context of census practices in Nigeria, defining census and falsification concepts, uncovering instances of census falsifications in Nigeria, and outlining their implications, the analysis shed light on intentional and unintentional falsifications, including errors in data collection instruments. The repercussions of manipulating population figures encompass incitement of unrest, inequitable revenue sharing and resource allocation, inaccurate parliamentary representation, corruption, unnecessary constituency delineations, and local government creations. To prevent the falsification of population census findings, recommendations include implementing biometric technology in data collection, establishing a comprehensive population registry for universal registration and updates, promoting public awareness on the significance of precise census data, enhancing the training of census personnel, conducting regular census exercises, and ensuring adequate funding for such undertakings
