THE INTERPLAY BETWEEN RELIGION AND POLITICS FROM THE PERSPECTIVES OF AN ETHICIST
The relationship between religion and politics in Nigeria over the years can be considered as a marriage of perceptual harmony and disharmony. Religion and politics in Nigeria and Africa as a whole are like siamese twins that are very difficult to separate and which in a way are themselves connected to the particular historical and developmental trajectories of individual societies and nations around the world. Religion has generally had a considerable impact on politics in many regions of the world, not just in Africa. There is no doubt that religious beliefs and practices reinforced political power in the same waypoliticalapprehensionspermeated to the heart of the religious domain. Both religious leaders and political leaders are people whose well-being was closely linked to their people's health and welfare. Existing literature on the interplay between religion and politics have engaged the narratives from the standpoint of the influence of ethnic affiliation on politics, psychology of politics, politics and national development with little attention paid to the interconnectivity between religion and politics and the position of an ethicist in the discourse. The dearth of research in this regard gave rise to this study. For instance, religious beliefs or solidarity in most cases form the main context for political action and political concerns with religious notions determine the nature of a particular group's collective response. Politics is about power, and due to prevalent religious modes of thinking about the world, this power is widely perceived to be spiritual in nature. Qualitative methodwhich has to do with the use of materials relevant to the study will be employed. Recommendations will be made where necessary to all the stakeholders in religious and political matters
ASSESSING THE ECONOMIC IMPACT OF TERRORISM ON INTERNALLY DISPLACED PERSONS (IDPS) IN NIGERIA
This study investigates the economic disparities between on-camp and off-camp Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) in Nigeria, a gap under-explored in existing research on terrorism-induced displacement. While acknowledging the established link between terrorism and ID, this study goes further by examining the economic heterogeneity within the displaced population. Through analysis of employment, income, and livelihood strategies, it reveals the unique challenges faced by On-Camp IDPs due to restricted movement and limited access to resources. Conversely, Off-Camp IDPs demonstrate greater economic agency due to their ability to engage with local markets and support networks. Despite these differences, both groups exhibit resilience through informal income generation. This study contributes to the literature by highlighting the economic disparities within the IDP population and the influence of camp settings. The proposed policy recommendations, including targeted camp-based employment initiatives, vocational training, and robust social support systems, address these disparities and promote long-term economic recovery for IDPs. By emphasizing investments in education and infrastructure, this study offers actionable strategies for policymakers and humanitarian organizations to effectively support IDPs' economic self-sufficiency and resilience
THE ROLE OF ETHICS AS A COMPONENT OF PHILOSOPHY IN HISTORY-THEMED DOCUMENTARIES
This article examines ethics and philosophical considerations in media and communication within the context of historical documentary filmmaking. The main aim is to speak to the reason for which history-themed documentaries as a form of film that deals with factual representation of history, is not without the application of ethics as a component of philosophy. History is a fascinating subject for any creative endeavor. This article projects the interconnection between historical accuracy and ethical consideration in every historic researcher’s quest to achieve objectivity and to represent reality. Moreover, as much as historic researchers are aware that ethical adherence to background evidential values of materials goes a long way to determine the credibility attached to such documentaries (when considered for practical use in an educational, academic, and social setting), there is need to correlate the roles of ethics to the methodology, communication, subjectivity, and interpretation of any historic research endeavor. The study considers ethics vis-à-vis the new historicism theory, the value theory, Aristotle’s golden mean to show how cardinal ethics is to the making of historic-themed documentaries
ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE AND ITS EFFECT ON NIGERIAN YOUTH IN THE 21STCENTURY
The world advancement in the 21st century is highly commendable and aimed at making human endeavours very easy to achieve. The various advancements hinges on the technological development which has been revealed in various means and format which as a matter of emphasis have led to a crescendo which is the recent spread of Artificial Intelligence (AI). It is aimed at setting ease for human endeavours, but a call for concern as aimed in this paper is the relevance of AI in the Nigerian context in light of various challenges among Youths in the contemporary time. Creating answer to the question of necessity and validity of AI in the Nigerian setting will go a long way to encourage or discourage the emphasis on adopting it hook, line and sinker. Studies on AI have mostly been channelled towards the positive effect on the society at large but this study strikes a new path of examining the usage among youths. Therefore, using evaluation research method which considers the AI phenomenon in Nigerian context, this work weighs the effect of AI on Nigerian youths and observes that it has more tendency of complicating poverty if not properly handled by the leaders of the country. As such, the study recommends that, proper education be made available for the usage, and less emphasis should be placed on the usage in industries where human services are needed
THE NEXUS BETWEEN POVERTY AND TEENAGE PREGNANCY IN ILORIN TOWNSHIP
Poverty is a hydra-headed monster which affects and destroys anything it touches. In sub-Saharan Africa and indeed Nigeria, the prevalence of poverty is very high with over 110 million Nigerians still living below the poverty line. In Kwara state, the situation is not different as the poverty rate in the state according to the report published by the United Nations Global Multi-Dimensional Poverty Index as of 2023 is 38.9%. This percentage cuts across every part of the country including Ilorin which is the capital of Kwara State has taken its toll on teen girls. Many teen girls between the ages of 13 to 19 years in Ilorin Township have become victims of teenage pregnancy and dropped out of school. An in-depth study reveals that the major cause of this act is poverty as many of the girls were easily lured into sex because of their poor economic condition which makes any little gift item or money attractive. The implication of early sexual activity and pregnancy on the girls and their families goes beyond physical look as many of them are psychologically traumatized, demoralized and can barely pick up the pieces of their lives, thus finding themselves continuing the line of poverty from their parents and wards to the child they deliver. This paper is therefore aimed at discussing and analyzing the connection between poverty and teenage pregnancy in Ilorin Township

POLITICAL ECONOMY OF RUSSIA-UKRAINE WAR AND THE MACRO-ECONOMIC INSTABILITY IN EUROPE
The Russia-Ukraine war, stemming from a complex web of historical, geopolitical, and territorial disputes, has evolved into a multifaceted crisis with profound implications across political, economic, and humanitarian domains. This war originated with Russia's annexation of Crimea in 2014, followed by support for separatist movements in eastern Ukraine, challenging Ukraine's sovereignty and territorial integrity. This paper argued that the war reflects a broader geopolitical ambition, with Russia and Western countries aiming to assert influence in the region and maintain control over strategic territories. This has created a power struggle between Russia and Western nations, impacting the stability of Eastern Europe and beyond. Thus, we employed a time-series research design and documentary methods of data collection while relying on content analysis. The study adopted the Economic Incentive Theory of War as its theoretical framework. The findings of this paper showed that the war has far-reaching implications, notably impacting energy security in Europe due to disruptions in energy supply routes. Moreover, the imposition of sanctions on Russia by Western nations has led to economic repercussions not only for Russia but also for various European economies with interlinked trade relations. The study concluded that resolving the Russia-Ukraine war is pivotal not only for restoring peace and stability in the region but also for safeguarding global security and promoting sustainable economic development in Europe. Therefore, it was recommended that Ukraine maintain neutral status and not join military alliances perceived as threats by Russia while implementing the Minsk agreements
