GENDER AS A MODERATOR IN THE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN DESTINATION ATTRACTIVENESS AND TOURISM PATRONAGE INTENTION IN OSUN STATE, NIGERIA
This study investigates the moderating role of gender in the relationship between destination attractiveness and tourism patronage intention in Osun State, Nigeria, using the Theory of Planned Behavior (TPB) as a guiding framework. The research focuses on the culturally significant Osun Osogbo Festival to explore how gender dynamics influence the pathway from perceived attractiveness to tourism behavior in a developing economy context. A quantitative survey design was adopted, and data were collected from 180 purposively selected domestic tourists using structured questionnaires. Findings revealed a significant but weak negative correlation between traditional gender role beliefs and positive attitudes toward tourism (r = –0.237, p = .001), indicating that rigid gender norms may inhibit tourism receptiveness. Although destination attractiveness was rated highly (M = 4.62), it showed no significant correlation with patronage intention (r = –0.015, p = .838), suggesting that other barriers such as affordability, infrastructure, or safety concerns may mediate the relationship. Paired samples t-tests further confirmed a significant difference between gender role perceptions and tourism attitudes (t(179) = –27.77, p < .001), but not between destination attractiveness and intention (t(179) = –1.33, p = .184). The study contributes to the literature by contextualising the gender-tourism nexus within an African heritage setting and highlighting the limitations of existing tourism intention models in non-Western contexts. It recommends gender-sensitive tourism policies, infrastructure enhancement, and inclusive community engagement as strategies to improve tourism patronage. The findings underscore the applicability of TPB in explaining tourism behavior within culturally and gender-influenced environments in sub-Saharan Afric
Impact of Foreign Inflows on Financial Institution Development in Nigeria: Evidence from ARDL Approach
This study investigated the impact of foreign inflows on financial institutions development in Nigeria spanning 1981 to 2021. Employing the autoregressive distributed lag model, the findings of the study revealed that diaspora remittances have a positive and significant impact on financial institutions development in Nigeria in the long-run and short-run, while foreign direct investment and official development aids both presented negative and significant impact on financial institutions development in Nigeria in the short run. Inflation as a control variable presented both positive and significant impact on financial institutions development in Nigeria in the short-run and long-run. The study, therefore concludes that foreign inflows impact the development of financial institutions in Nigeria and the direction of the impact is dependent on the nature and type of foreign inflows into the country. It therefore, recommends that policymakers should initiate the monetary authority policies that could display economic stability. Therefore, the following recommendations were made among others: copy-and-print shops operating in educational institutions should intensify the use of physical signages, and exterior store aesthetics to enhance the visibility of their stores in order to attract students’ patronage; and to enhance student patronage, university campus copy-and-print shops should prioritize accessibility by implementing measures like user-friendly layouts, online ordering, and printing options for visually impaired students
Capital Market Development and Economic Growth in Nigeria
Given the crucial role of the capital market in the economic growth process, this study through the financial intermediation theory lens attempts to evaluate the impact of capital market development on economic growth in Nigeria by developing a parsimonious model of economic growth using capital market development indicators as predictors. Thus, this study evaluated the proposition that capital market development can spur economic growth by testing the three hypotheses to find out if capital market proxied by Market Capitalization (MC), Market Turnover (MT), and Total Transaction Value (TTV) significantly influences economic growth proxied by gross domestic product (GDP) in Nigeria. The evidence of this study provided that among the dimensions of capital market development understudied, only market capitalization could significantly predict economic growth in Nigeria. This is a result of the shallow market depth of the Nigerian capital market since the market is characterized by low liquidity and limited trading volumes. This outcome implies that raising necessary funds for businessdevelopment will be difficult, and this will stunt the growth of businesses and their contribution to the economy. Also, access to long-term funds for expansion, innovation, and modernizationwould be limited. Therefore, positioning the Nigerian capital market to drive economic growth requires comprehensive and coordinated efforts to boost the market depth and enhance its liquidity. This includes encouraging the listing of more firms especially from diverse sectors,by offering tax incentives, reduced listing fees, and streamlined listing requirement

ASSESSING THE IMPACT OF CLIMATE CHANGE ON FOOD SECURITY IN NIGERIA
There is a definite increase in comprehension and acknowledgement regarding the global climate change crisis, which presents diverse implications for various sectors of society, particularly concerning global food security. This study aimed to examine the effects of climate change on the availability and security of food in developing nations worldwide, focusing specifically on Nigeria. Like numerous other West African nations, Nigeria remains in a state of development heavily reliant on agriculture for its financial resources, sustenance, and economic revenue. However, alterations in climatic conditions have led to erratic rainfall patterns, elevated temperatures, and the occurrence of extreme weather phenomena. These factors possess the potential to exacerbate food insecurity within the country by limiting the accessibility and consumption of an adequate, high-quality, safe, and nutritious diet. This research delved into the relationship between climate change and food security, exploring the intersection of these two phenomena and the repercussions of climate change on food security
THE ROLE OF FINANCIAL TECHNOLOGY (FINTECH) IN ENHANCING FINANCIAL INCLUSION IN RURAL NIGERIA
Financial technology (FinTech) has burst into the scene as a game-changing force. It bridges the financial inclusion divide, especially in neglected rural zones. This research dives into the impact of FinTech in boosting financial inclusion in rural Nigeria. Here, traditional banking systems just don’t cut it. Despite leaps in global financial services, rural Nigeria continues to battle serious issues. These include restricted access to banking, low levels of financial education, and poor digital infrastructure. Thus, this study tackles a major void by evaluating how FinTech innovations can reduce these obstacles. Using a mixed-methods strategy, the study blends qualitative interviews with crucial players—such as FinTech firms, regulators, and rural leaders—alongside quantitative data from surveys gathered from rural dwellers throughout Nigeria. Notably, mobile money solutions, agent banking, and online credit services have dramatically enhanced access to financial tools. This allows rural citizens to save, borrow, and conduct transactions with much greater ease. Nevertheless, hurdles like digital ignorance, cost issues, and infrastructure gaps still exist. The results highlight the necessity of policy actions. These include funding for digital infrastructure, financial education initiatives, and regulatory frameworks that encourage FinTech expansion. This research enriches the larger conversation about using FinTech for inclusive growth. It also delivers practical suggestions for policymakers, financial entities, and tech developers. In conclusion, embracing FinTech can pave the way for financial inclusivity in rural settings. Yet, a concerted effort is crucial to tackle existing challenge
WORKFORCE DIVERSITY AND EMPLOYEE PERFORMANCE IN TELECOMMUNICATION COMPANIES IN NIGERIA: CAN SELF EFFICACY ACCENTUATE THE RELATIONSHIP?
This study examines the complex interplay of workplace diversity, self-efficacy, and employee performance at telecommunications firms located in Zaria. The research adopts a cross-sectional approach. The research especially examines the characteristics of workplace diversity, including age, ethnic, and gender diversity. The study used a census sample technique, which includes a total of 59 workers. The results demonstrate strong and meaningful correlations between workplace diversity characteristics, such as age, ethnicity, and gender, and employee performance. Age diversity, ethnic diversity, and gender diversity have a good impact on staff performance in the telecommunications company. However, the research delves further into these direct connections by examining the moderating influence of self-efficacy on these interactions. The findings indicate that self-efficacy significantly influences the relationship between workplace diversity and employee performance. Individuals that possess greater degrees of self-efficacy are more inclined to use the beneficial impacts of diversity, hence converting it into improved performance results. This implies that fostering self-confidence and belief in one’s abilities among workers might enhance the advantages gained from a varied working setting. The practical consequences for management are acknowledging the complex nature of diversity and promoting self-confidence among personnel. Organizations may cultivate a more inclusive and productive work environment in the telecommunications sector by comprehending and actively advocating for self-efficacy, which allows them to leverage the beneficial impact of workplace diversity on employee performance
