    EFFECT OF INFORMATION AND COMMUNICATION TECHNOLOGY (ICT) UTILIZATION ON PERFORMANCE OF SMALL AND MEDIUM ENTERPRISES (SMEs) IN WUKARI

    The study aimed to establish the impact of ICT on the performance of SMEs in Wukari through the use of computer systems, mobile applications, and social media. This study adopted a cross-sectional study design. The primary data was collected from 145 respondents by using a structured questionnaire. The collected data were analysed descriptively, and regression analysis was used to test the study hypotheses. The research also found that ICT had a positive impact on the performance of SMEs. The findings showed that the application of ICT technologies by SME operators improved their performance through increased market exposure, higher marketing efficiency, and improved business sustainability. The results of this study may offer the final evidence for SME operators to understand the vast opportunity of ICT and how it can improve the performance of the company in a more competitive world. The report recommends that SME operators in Nigeria, especially those in Wukari should improve on their ICT technologies and integrate them into their companies to achieve market visibility through market infiltration, brand promotion, customer interaction and market control

    EMPLOYEES’ CAPACITY DEVELOPMENT STRATEGIES AND PERFORMANCE OF STAFF IN KWARARAFA UNIVERSITY WUKARI

    This study investigated the effect of employees’ capacity development strategies on staff performance in Kwararafa University Wukari. The effect of four dimensions of employees’ capacity development strategies was studied. The study adopts a quantitative approach where 150 staff of Kwararafa University Wukari were surveyed using a structured questionnaire for data collection. To test the hypothesis, multiple regression analysis was adopted, and the results reveal that in-service training significantly predicts staff performance, evidenced by a coefficient of 0.350 and a p-value of 0.013, indicating that a one-unit increase in in-service training corresponds to a 0.350 increase in staff performance. Conversely, conferences (coefficient = 0.100, p-value = 0.407), delegation of duties (coefficient = 0.120, p-value = 0.276), and mentoring (coefficient = 0.050, p-value = 0.719) do not exhibit statistically significant effects on performance. These findings align with existing literature that underscores the importance of targeted employee capacity development initiatives. The study recommends that Kwararafa University should invest in in-service training initiatives, increase engagement in conferences, and mentoring to create a more productive work environment

    EFFECT OF LAND USE CONVERSION ON SOCIAL DEVELOPMENT AND MOBILITY IN KANO METROPOLIS, NIGERIA

    This study on the effect of land use conversion on social development in Kano State, Nigeria, used a cross-sectional design. Data were sourced through a structured questionnaire. The target population consists of the total number of registered houses in Kano State, as per the Ministry of Land in Kano State, which is 74,878, and 398 was used as the sample size. The study used descriptive tools include frequency and percentage, while inferential techniques; multiple regression was employed. The result showed that economic activities connected to the road (0.557) is positive and statistically significant at 1% level. Access to road transport in marketing agricultural produce (0.20) had a positive coefficient and was statistically significant at 5% level. Flow of business activities in the settlement (0.45) is positive and significant at was 5% level, etc. It was recommended that increasing employment boosts livelihoods and improves the social fabric of a community, and policymakers should take note of this in decision-making.     EFFECT OF ORGANIZATIONAL VALUES ON EMPLOYEES’ PERFORMANCE: A STUDY OF COMMERCIAL BANKS IN WUKARI METROPOLIS OF TARABA STATE

    This study examined the effect of organisational values—specifically welfare, capacity building, and job security—on employee performance in three commercial banks operating in Wukari Metropolis, Taraba State: Zenith Bank, United Bank for Africa (UBA), and Unity Bank. The study was motivated by observed dissatisfaction among employees regarding management’s non-adherence to core organisational values, particularly those affecting staff well-being. This dissatisfaction appears to have contributed to a noticeable decline in the quality of customer service, as reported by clients of the banks. Equity Theory served as the theoretical framework for the study. A total of 39 employees from the three banks were sampled, and data were collected through structured questionnaires. Descriptive statistics were employed to analyse the data. Findings revealed that employee welfare, capacity building, and job security significantly influence employee performance. Based on these findings, the study recommends that commercial banks prioritise the implementation of employee-centred organisational values as a strategic approach to enhancing performance, sustaining operations, and achieving long-term organisational goals

    EFFECT OF SOCIO-CULTURAL WORK ENVIRONMENT ON EMPLOYEE PERFORMANCE IN FEDERAL UNIVERSITY WUKARI

    This study investigates the effect of sociocultural work environment on employees’ performance in Federal University Wukari. The study specifically examined theffect of language and religion on employee performance at Federal University Wukari. A survey research design was employed for this study. The total population of the study was 1015 academic staff of Federal University Wukari. 91 academic staff were randomly selected to take part in the study as respondents. Questionnaires were administered to collect data from 91 respondents, out of which only 83 questionnaires returned duly filled and fit for analysis. A Multiple Linear Regression analysis was carried out to test the hypotheses using SPSS version 27.1. The findings indicate that the sociocultural work environment has a positive, significant effect on employee performance. It also revealed that language has no significant effect on employee performance, while religion, on the other hand, shows a significant effect on employee performance in Federal University Wukari. It was recommended that management should improve on making a workplace more language-friendly; continue to encourage freedom of religious practice by shunning discrimination, and improve interfaith relationships in the workplace for better performance

    This study investigated the impact of AI-powered personalization on customer loyalty within global e-commerce platforms, examining how tailored interactions influenced consumer engagement, satisfaction, and trust across diverse cultural contexts. Utilizing AI-driven personalization techniques such as data analytics, machine learning, and natural language processing, businesses provided customized shopping experiences that catered to individual preferences. However, challenges like data privacy concerns, cultural sensitivity, and transparency posed significant barriers. Drawing on existing literature, the study identified gaps in understanding regional variations in customer expectations and privacy concerns.     DIGITAL MARKETING PRACTICES S AND PERFORMANCE OF ONLINE SHOPPING MALLS IN THE FEDERAL CAPITAL TERRITORY, ABUJA, NIGERIA

    The advent and the dramatic change in technologies had shift the strengths of marketing practices from the traditional approach to more innovative and transformational approaches. The study examines the impact of digital marketing on the performance of online shopping malls in the Federal Capital Territory in Abuja, Nigeria. The study used quantitative research method and data were collected from respondents at Jumia and Konga online shopping malls through a well[1]structured questionnaire. The study population was 108 respondents and was used as the sample size, but the return rate was 98 respondents. Simple regression techniques were used to test the hypotheses of this study using the Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS) version 25 to analyze collected data to determine the strategic impact of digital marketing practices on the performance of online shopping malls. The study showed from the results that digital marketing had a strategic and significant impact on Jumia and Konga's performance as online shopping malls. Research also showed that digital marketing practices s had a significant impact on customer satisfaction and market share. The study concluded that the adoption of advanced technologies and digitalized marketing improved the marketing strategy execution of Jumia and Konga online shopping malls. The study recommends that the online shopping mall corporate settings should apply digital marketing intelligence to build on their strengths and weaknesses, thereby improving customer satisfaction and market share

    IMPACT OF PROMOTION AND SERVICE AWARDS ON EMPLOYEES’ PERFORMANCE OF ZENITH BANK WUKARI

    This study examines how promotion and service awards affect employees’ performance of Zenith Bank in Wukari. A Correlational survey design was adopted from a population of fortythree (43) staff working in Zenith Bank Wukari. Univariate statistics and Multiple Linear Regression were used to analyse data and test the hypothesis formulated using SPSS version 25. Findings from the results revealed that promotion and service awards have significant impacts on employee’s performance. Thus, the study concludes that the importance of promotion and service awards on employees’ performance cannot be overemphasized as recognizing employees in an organization causes a fundamental outcome on the productivity of employees. Therefore, the management of Zenith Bank Wukari should ensure that workers who are due for promotion are promoted as at when due lead to high morale of workers in Zenith Bank Wukari.     ENTREPRENEURIAL INNOVATIVENESS AND THE PERFORMANCE OF SMALL MEDIUM ENTERPRISES (SMEs) IN YABA AREA OF LAGOS STATE, NIGERIA

    Entrepreneurs, characterized by their risk-taking disposition, embark on ventures with a keen eye on market dynamics. This distinctive approach involves not only recognizing current market trends but also anticipating future shifts, enabling entrepreneurs to proactively position their ventures for success. This study underscores the real-world challenges and opportunities faced by SMEs in navigating the global business landscape through effective entrepreneurial innovation strategies and SMEs performance in the Yaba area of Lagos State. Utilizing SmartPLS 3, a path model was constructed to analyze the impact of market innovation and technology innovation on SMEs performance, using brand recognition, patronage, and market share as proxies. The results revealed a nuanced dynamic, showcasing a weak negative effect of market innovation on SMEs performance, coupled with a moderate positive correlation between technology innovation and SMEs performance. The R square value of 0.049 indicates that though statistically significant, a modest portion of SMEs performance variability were accounted for in the model. The study recommends SMEs to prioritize technology innovation, allocating more resources to research and development, adopting digital technologies, fostering collaborative innovation networks, and incorporating continuous market research and customer feedback. Additionally, fostering collaborative innovation networks, continuous market research, and customer feedback integration were suggested for a more comprehensive approach to innovation. As SMEs continue to navigate global challenges, the findings and recommendations offer actionable insights, paving the way for further research into unexplored factors influencing SMEs performance in the context of entrepreneurial innovativeness

    Effect of Microfinance Banks' Performance on Agricultural Growth in Nigeria

    This study investigates the effect of microfinance bank performance on agricultural productivity in Nigeria. Empirical results on the impact of bank credit on agricultural productivity are inconclusive. These studies demonstrate diverse results which are debatableand conflicting. Agricultural productivity is proxy by Crop output and Livestock output. The datasets for the study are collocated from the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) from 2005-2020. The formulated hypotheses are tested using the granger causality test. The result revealed that microfinance credit has a non-significant effect on both crop output and livestock output. The non-significant effect theoretically can be accredited to information asymmetry, bank capital channel, moral hazard and adverse selection. The results indicate that farmers lack access to microfinance credit facilities. The results revealed that to a large extent, farmers are selfsponsored and for economic diversification, governments must encourage effective ways to increase bank credit flow to the agricultural sector through efficient bank intermediation. More agricultural banks and improvement on the operational activities of the existing ones to ensure direct credit to agricultural activities.
