Rewriting Women: A Critique of Misogyny, Structure and Agency in the Novels of K. R. Meera- A Review

    Get PDF
Purpose:  The purpose of this review paper is to highlight the fact that lack of state support creates violence and injustice. Women, as a minority, and as a gender, need to be recognized, and protected. The age-old notion of patriarchy still has its roots running through the lives of our society. Equality if not given, is exercised and asserted by K. R. Meera’s characters. Transgression occurs when limits are drawn and tightened. The State has its responsibilities toward its subjects irrespective of their gender. If violated, they should be enforced by appropriate judicial measures. This paper establishes that the only way to assure social justice for women, the paper establishes. Design: Based on the secondary sources, a method has been designed to reveal the very basic human tendency to ask for what is allowed to every other sect. Society might have drawn boundaries, which if transgressed would invite punishment. Rejection of emotional acceptance is considered to be against human rights. For a human, irrespective of gender, there’s no necessity to surrender his/her individual freedom and happiness. The happiness of a woman need not be sacrificed just for the sake of her family. This research largely depends on the findings from research journals from Google Scholar, ResearchGate, SSRN, Elsevier, Academia, and Shodhganga for identifying the research gap. To highlight the key aspects of the research, ABCD analysis is used. The interviews and social posts of the author also give much insight into the different aspects of the research question. The literary compositions of the author are the major source of research. Findings: The main finding of the research is that the law of the country and its administration support the privileged, all-powerful patriarchy. The finding also includes a discussion about the insecurity of women under such a system and how it becomes one of the reasons for the chaos that goes on within the country. Transgression is one of the powerful methods adopted under such situations by the women of K. R. Meera’s novels, a reflection of what we get to see around, especially through social media and this is where the research paper stands out in its finding. The research paper explores the nature of a self-subsistent, self-reliant woman in the making of powerless patriarchy. Originality: This research is unique as full-fledged research on the author’s works is yet to be done. It doesn’t further discuss the proven elements that are found in the research journals published. Most of them explore the hindrances patriarchy creates in framing the identity of women, mainly in the light of a single text of the author. But they never discuss how women use violence as a means to secure themselves from the all-powerful people protected by the system. The concept of justice and its failure to protect women of the country is never mentioned or studied in the papers already published or researched based on the author’s novels. Thus, the research is original in its area and findings. Paper Type: Review Pape

Procedures for Digital Forensics and Incident Response on Including Data Integrity Constraints on Solid-State Drives (SSD) - A Literature Review

    No full text
Background/Purpose: To get evidence from suspect computers running on Windows Operating System, law enforcement agencies and corporations follow many standard procedures relevant to Digital Forensics and Incident Response processes. The primary contrast between forensics and incident response is that forensics is evidence-driven and is often more closely connected with criminal activity, while incident response is more focused on discovering, containing, and recovering from breach of security incidents. A guideline is often intended to simplify certain procedures in accordance with a predefined routine or good practice. As data storage technology progresses from hard disc drives (HDDs) to solid-state drives (SSDs), it has become more difficult for Digital Forensics Analysts to perform evidence acquisition tasks from suspicious systems due to file integrity issues. Existing forensic principles and methods were created mostly on the basis of hard disc drive technology. This literature survey analyses several guidelines to identify gaps in SSD Forensic challenges and makes recommendations for improvement. Objective: To survey leading Digital Forensics and Incident Response guidelines on how SSD forensic acquisition procedures are outlined and to find the gaps and suggest enhancements that might be made. Design/Methodology/Approach: Data from academic papers, web articles, and other sources is analysed and presented using ABCD analysis. Findings/Results: Cyber Security Framework is a vital aspect of an organisations strategy to safeguard its IT assets from cyber assaults and other form of damages. Most organisation use NIST framework since it is being generally acknowledged. However, owing to quick improvement in new technologies CSF’s need to be kept up to date in order to confront emerging cyber security threats. After verifying the policy framework of NIST 800-61, it was determined that the SSD forensic gathering approach which raises problems about data integrity has not been addressed. Originality/Value: A study comparing and contrasting different CSFs in the field of Digital Forensics and Incident Response with the most recent emerging technologies will draw more attention to this area from a wider range of stakeholders, allowing the policy framework to keep pace with the most recent emerging technologies in the same time frame. Purpose: Postmodernism is a general movement that developed in the late 20th century across the arts, philosophy, art, architecture, and criticism, marking a disappearance from modernism. The term has been more often used to describe a historical age which followed after modernity. Postmodernism is a period of uprising which refers to ups and downs in each walk of life and the different disciplines of knowledge be it literary work, philosophy, or science. Postmodern literature revokes some modern literary methods by transforming them. Historiographic Metafiction is a contradictory term that consists of two opposite categories such as history and metafiction. It is having dual representations because such writings reflect the reality as well as fictional position. An attempt is made by the Post-colonial Indian English writers to liberate Indian English literature from the foreign bondage. Historical events such as agitations, migration, movements, refugees, colonial hegemony; social-economic and cultural problems like encounter of the east-west, caste, and class became the concerns of the writers. Design/Methodology/Approach: This paper is prepared by making a study of Primary source and accumulating secondary data from educational websites and written publications. This qualitative research is carried out by studying and interpreting the existing knowledge on the subject. The paper tries to analyze the historiographic metafictional features as depicted in The Shadow Lines by Amitav Ghosh. Findings/Result: After reviewing many articles, books and thesis it has been found that the paper aims to study Amitav Ghosh's notions like ‟ Nationhood and National distinctiveness in "The Shadow Lines” as a reminiscence novel, highlights a few historical happenings like the Second World War, the Swadeshi movement, and the Partition of India in 1947 and communal uprisings in Bangladesh and India. The ardent nationalism upheld by the protagonist that is the narrator’s grandmother is questioned and re-analysed. Ghosh searches for appropriateness of traditional identity such as nation and nationalism. Originality/Value: This paper makes a study of the major character Thamma with special reference to her concerns of Nationhood and Nationality.  The identity of Thamma in the novel is given prominence being a woman she stands for her thoughts and identifies her as an individual who faced tragedy but still who had the courage to raise her voice till the end. The emphasis of this particular research work was to evaluate the effectiveness of arbitration. Design/Methodology/Approach: The sixteen case studies were the major basis as a quantitative study for the assessment of the effectiveness of dispute adjudication by assessing the success rate of arbitration. Also, the familiarities of the parties about the provision and procedure of arbitration and its spirit/strength to resolve the disputes and responses of parties regarding the arbitration award were assessed based on the qualitative study. The content analysis in terms of percentage was the main tool for data analysis. Findings/Result: The arbitration award was not accepted in about 78.57% of disputed issues of these sixteen cases and referred to litigation, 42.86% issues were referred by the Employers, 25.00% issues were referred by the Contractors and 3.57% issues were referred by both the Employers and the Contractors. 100% of Employers and 100% of Contractors agreed that they know the procedure and provision of arbitration for the resolution of disputes. The majority of the Employers did not accept the arbitration award and referred to the cases to litigation while mostly were accepted by the Contractors except in a few cases. The majority of the Employers had the perception that the arbitration award was favorable to the contractors while most of the Contractors argued that the decisions were fair to both parties. The majority of the Employers said that it is comfortable to accept the litigation award concerning the arbitration award. It is a prompt, cost-effective, efficient, and easy way of resolving construction disputes. The rejection of the arbitration award has negative consequences for the efficiency of public spending and which is associated with the extensive delay in the project completion and the delay is associated with a cost overrun. While acceptance of arbitration award is associated with timely delivery of the project. The enforcement of arbitration awards is critical to the success of arbitration. In those countries where the arbitration is backed up by statute by acts and enforceable by law, it is found to be more successful and effective.  Originality/Value: This study helps the DoR, Contractors, and other agencies such as the Public Procurement Monitoring Office (PPMO), Nepal council of Arbitration (NEPCA), and different Auditors and arbitrators of Nepal as it gives the perception of the contracting parties towards the arbitration process to familiarize the spirit of arbitration in the Nepalese construction industry.
