Nigerian state has been bedeviled by poverty and unemployment, one that has emerged due tothe failure of Nigerian government to perform her constitutional functions of providing hercitizenry with the basic needs of lives, especially employment through which food could beput on the table of the masses. Unemployment ravaging the citizens of Nigeria has becomedevastating, as it has grown to its climax that in the time past, senator Dino Melaiye, a senatorfrom Kogi west senatorial district once submitted on the flow of the house of senate that thehigh rate of youth unemployment in Nigeria is sending a signal that Nigerian state is sitting ona time bomb which could explode at any point in time if the menace is not quickly addressed. The Minister of labour and employment Chris Ngige once posits that the unemployment ratemay increase from 23.1% to 33.5% by this year 2020. The need to addressing this issue is thereason why this paper examines the causes of unemployment in Nigeria, and analyze the needfor the development of entrepreneurial skills, and the establishment of small-scale businesseas the panacea to the menace of unemployment in Nigeria. The paper adopted thediversification theory in explaining the need for Nigerian graduates to diversify from theattitude of searching for white collar jobs only to the idea of setting up and investing in smallscale businesses. This paper examines the impact of unemployment on Nigeria and suggeststhe establishment of small-scale businesses and entrepreneurial skills development as a wayto go in tackling the menace of unemployment in Nigeria. The paper adopted the secondarymethod of data collection as valuable information’s and data are retrieved from the readymade works of scholars and authors, while other information’s are gathered through thecommon-sense views and knowledge of the write

Measuring the True Potential of Lifestyle Brands in India: A Consumer-Level Scale for Existing and Potential Investors(CL-LBSi)

    No full text
It is evident that among more than 5000 Indian lifestyle brands, only a few brands have createdtrue lifestyle brand image in their employees, investors, competitors, and consumer’s minds, and the trueness level of a majority of Indian lifestyle brands is still in question. The majorityof developing and developed Indian lifestyle brands assume that the success of a lifestyle brandis measured basis the revenue or profit they generate and are unaware of implicit long-termstrategical benefits of creating a true lifestyle brand image in consumer’s minds. In India, thelifestyle category has also become one of the most sought-after categories for many start-upentrepreneurs. Just because there is an evident gap for a certain lifestyle product category inthe market and just attempting to fill such a gap does not guarantee sustainable success. Indiaindeed is one of the countries with consumers belonging to the widest range of Religions,Regions, Languages, Sub-Cultures and Economic backgrounds which makes it very difficultfor any lifestyle brand to own a true lifestyle brand image at National level and makes itfurthermore important for them to be more careful and efficient in ensuring adaptation of rightconsumer-level evaluation techniques and tools to regularly measure a brand’s the truepotential in attaining a sustainable profitable stage of its evolution. Both new and existinglifestyle brands in India inevitably require investors to fund their journey of attaining the finalstage of evolution which is known as a sustainable profitable stage. However, in the absenceof any inputs-driven consumer-level measurement instruments, investors are in a quandary togauge, estimate and forecast the true potential of lifestyle brands in India from the consumerpoint of view before they make any investment decisions and usually most of the investorsfollow traditional brand equity or valuation methods which are mostly skewed toward outputdriven measures and sometimes they are misleading. In this exhaustive empirical study, wehave studied a few select lifestyle brands, investors and investments to identify 68inputs-basedsub-elements across 4 key elements and 3 dimensions to design a simple consumer-levelinstrument named as CL-LBSi, which would measure the true potential of a lifestyle brand inIndia irrespective of the brand’s current age in the Indian retail market

Academic Institutions Risk Decisions using Six Thinking Hats Based Analysis

    No full text
Today, almost everyone faces extraordinary health, social, and economic risk due to the COVID-19 pandemic. As for all industries, academic institutions face unprecedented challenges and are witnessing the change in short-and long-term risk profile due to COVID19, e.g., enhanced information and cybersecurity risk due to the adoption of new collaboration tools, deterioration in the effectiveness of traditional fraud risk mitigants as enrollment and document verifications over email, and increased risk of financial viability. In addition to having a robust risk management framework, it is critical for the institutions to carefully recognize and mitigate these emerging risks, which may have long-term implications on the institution's academic performance and perpetuity. Educational institutions, therefore, must adopt a broad spectrum of thinking methods that allow a practical framework for risk decisions and provide a strong foundation for academic institutions to function and enforce strategies both throughout and after the COVID-19 period. With the help of an example, this paper explores how "Six Thinking Hats" may serve as a decision aid and facilitate the risk decisions in an academic institution around risk appetite, risk identification, risk assessment, control design, and risk monitoring. The "Six Thinking Hats" or colors are all about gaining direction, i.e., what can happen (threat and opportunities; effect and probability) and not merely about explaining the event, what is or what has happened. Risk management being forward-looking, this is a significant risk decision consideration. The paper also analyzes the "Six Thinking Hats" method using the ABCD analysis framework as a research case study

Integrated Marketing Mix Framework for Baby Care Retailing in India

    No full text
The complex nature of baby care retailing both from supply side and demand side owing to sheervast number of unique products / brands / categories the retailer mandatorily need to offer intheir stores as part of the product assortment, added with limitation in terms of opportunityavailable for the store to hold on consumers for a longer period of time just because the windowis very small, makes it furthermore important for any baby care brick-and-mortar retailer to bemore careful and efficient in ensuring adaptation of right Marketing Mix. It is observed that themajority of baby care retailers in India believe that they have adopted the right Marketing Mix and is yielding the best possible store profits. This belief / assumption always distracts them from working on their existing Marketing Mix and they spend most of their time in finding elements which are new or latent in nature to be added to the existing Marketing Mix. In this twelve months long research work we have analysed a select baby care brick-and-mortar retailer’s existing Marketing Mix designed a new Marketing Mix by just rationalizing and re-prioritizing all the elements of basic “4P’s”, applied it on a select group of experimental stores to derive insights from the experimentation. Results have demonstrated that rather working on identifying new “P’s”, “C’s”, “S’s” and “W’s” if one works on rationalizing the basic “4P’s” of existing Marketing Mix, more than 70 percent of the store profitability could be determined, most importantly in addition to few stores turning profitable for the first time all the stores in the experimental group have witnessed their highest ever revenue, store profit and repeat visit frequency of consumer

Image has become more and more difficult to process for human beings. Perfect results cannot be obtained through Content Based Medical Image Retrieval (CBMIR). The CBMIR was implemented to find order effectively retrieve the picture from an enormous database. Deep learning has taken Artificial Intelligence (AI) at an unprecedented rate through revolution and infiltration in the medical field. It has access to vast quantities of information computing energy of effective algorithms of Machine Learning (ML). It enables Artificial Neural Network (ANN) to attain outcomes nearly every Deep Learning (DL) problems. It helps ANN to achieve results everywhere. It is a difficult task to obtain medical images from an anatomically diff dataset. The goal of the research is to automate the medical image recovery scheme that incorporates subject and place probabilities to improve efficiency. It is suggested to integrate the different data or phrases into a DL location model. It is also measuring a fresh metric stance called weighted accuracy (wPrecision). The experiment will be conducted on two big medical image datasets revealing that the suggested technique outperforms current medical imaging technologies interms of accuracy and mean accuracy. The CBMIR have about 8,000 pictures, the proposed technique will attain excellent precision (nearly 90 percent). The proposed scheme will attain greater precision for the top ten pictures (97.5 percent) as compared to the last CBMIR recovery technologies with 15,000 picture dataset. It will assist doctors with better accuracy in obtaining medical images
