The cost of cement is very crucial for the effective construction of any project. The aim of the paperis to assess the economic operation of cement used for Gautam Buddha Airport UpgradingComponent construction projects. The economic operation of cement in terms of their quality, consumption, and cost ensuring the strength requirements by concrete is done. Tests for magnesiaoxide, insoluble residue, setting time, and compressive strength were operated. Compressivestrength test was conducted on cement mortar cubes (1:3) and on concrete cubes developed by thedesign mix at the laboratory at 7 and 28 days. On the basis of the design mix, the cost differenceamong these brands for those sites is evaluated. Purposive sampling technique was applied toconduct the interview of project managers of each site and lab technician of Multi lab. Magnesiaoxide, insoluble buildup, setting time, and compressive quality properties were discovered to bedistinctive as guaranteed by the producer in their concrete endorsements. Furthermore, the resultsof the design mix showed that different quantity of cement is required depending upon the brand forM25 concrete. The average mean of compressive strength of concretes casted at the field of AdminBuilding, International Terminal Building and Crass Fire Rescue Building sites for M25 were28.952 N/mm2, 29.032 N/mm2& 27.924 N/mm2respectively. Based on quality, content, and rate analysis, 53-grade cement is cost effective. So further grading of Ordinary Portland Cement needs to be specified along with strict inspection of cement for assuring quality. The cement produces must be assured to conform to the stated standar

Majority of brick-and-mortar retailers in India assume that;(a) price/product/brand assortmentmust be differentiated among stores located in different type of cities, (b) consumers cannot affordto purchase high-priced products/brands in tier-2 and tier-3 cities, (c) it is easier to sell high-pricedproducts/brands to consumers in tier-1 cities. Such assumptions and misconception shave resultedin increasing challenges with respect to maintaining retailer’s original and principal pricepositioning across different cities in India which could possibly put consumers into a quandary.Brick-and-mortar retailers need to understand the importance of overall store image, overall storeprice image, target consumer group and its implications on the overall store profitability andconsumer perceptions. In this research, we have analysed twelve months actual sales data bytwenty price bands across tier-1, tier-2 and tier-3 city stores of a select retailer and drawn insightsto recommend ideal price/product/brand assortment strategies for brick-and-mortar retailers inIndia across their stores present in tier-1, tier-2 and tier-3 cities

A New Concept of Circular Model of Management for Achieving Sustainable Success and Growth

    No full text
According to the International Institute for Sustainable Development (IISD), sustainable development has been defined in many ways, and it states that: “Sustainable development is a development that meets the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs.” We have seen a lot of focus on sustainable development starting from the initiative of the United Nations which has made all nations focus on Sustainable Goals to be achieved by 2030, to large conglomerates and small business enterprises likewise focussing on sustainable business practices, which if well planned would yield success and growth. In light of the global challenges faced in relation to environmental, economic and social resources sustainable development leading to sustainable success and growth calls for a significant rethinking in the management of resources within the, and external to the organization. In this paper, we propound the furthering of a circular economy concept to management as ‘circular model of management’. Borrowed from the concept of circular economy, a circular economy (as against a linear economy) is an economic system aimed at minimizing waste and making the most of resources. Moving towards a circular economy delivers benefits such as reducing pressure on resources, increases competitiveness, stimulates innovation and boosts growth. This study is developed through extensive work in subsistence  communities (base of the pyramid customers) in emerging markets. A circular economy promotes social, environmental, economic and overall restorative and regenerative capabilities, similarly, a circular model of management will as envisaged promote regenerative and restorative capability in the organization which will ensure sustainable growth and success by means of ensuring the reduction of leakage of resources to the minimum and applicability to the maximu

Extending the Concept of Delayed Gratification to Retail Start-ups in India: An Imperative Strategy for the Success, Long-Term Sustainability, and Protection of Founding Members’ Majority Shareholding

    No full text
By definition, the key objective of an organized investor is to commit capital with an expectation of financial returns within a specified period. This definition neither explicitly nor implicitly indicates the moral ways through which such financial returns are to be expected. Thus, the founding members of any Retail start-ups in India need to be cognizant of the fact that the key objectives of external organized investors are contrary to the founding members’ objectives of building a successful firm. This study demonstrates that the founding members of Retail start-ups in India knowingly or unknowingly distance themselves from understanding such objectives of investors, they are constantly reaching out to fund their start-ups. We have noticed that the most important aspects that have given the highest attention by the founding members (implicitly influenced by organized investors’ ideology) and have a greater significance in the failure to protect the majority shareholding in the firm revolve around (i) Quick reward; (ii) Short-term reward; (iii) Immediate reward; (iv) Impulsivity and rapid decision-making for the reward; (v) A desire for prodigious financial returns. And the only strategy that has a significant association and determination in getting rid of such aspects is the concept of Delayed Gratification (DG) i.e., ‘a person’s ability to resist either a smaller or  immediate reward to receive either a larger or more enduring reward later’. This study indicates that even after ten years of operation, the founding members with high levels of DG were able to retain more than 65% of their original shareholding with a relatively better financial performance of their firm whereas, founders with lower levels of DG were able to retain less than 5% and founders with no DG are no more holding any shareholding of the startup they founded. Besides finding evidence of the DG strategy’s role for the founding members, our results are also consistent with the arguments, suggestions, and recommendations of Cognitive, Biological, Psychodynamic, Social, Behavioral, and Developmental psychologists. However, our findings are contrary to Evolutionary theorist

Why should Sex Tourism and Prostitution be Legalized in the Philippines

    No full text
Several laws linked to Prostitution have been enforced in the Philippines and in countries where it is not permitted over the years, however, evidences show that it has unceasingly developed, in fact, has been coined already as the “oldest profession” and has already become a multi-billion-dollar Industry. As laws in the Philippines continuously fail to solve the problem, this study suggested legalization a better option to minimize its negative implications, if it does not totally become a solution. Results show that legalizing sex work would cause more positive implications to the society than to criminalize it. Legalization has been determined to decrease incidents of physical and sexual violence against women and cases of Sexual Transmitted Deceases. Criminalization on the other hand has been found to lack of the ability to stop or even slow down the growth of the commercial sex Industry and proven to expose sex workers to physical and sexual assault and harassment not just from their clients but also from law enforcers. In the Philippines where sex work is illegal, financial need was identified as the primary reason why people choose to work as prostitutes, unfortunately, it was discovered that they are treated badly; there are times that they are not being paid, they experience being forced to do things they don’t want to do, and they are harassed by hotel employees and law enforcers. Furthermore, though the Hospitality Industry may not be in support of prostitution, it seems like it is as hotels are used as the primary venue for the service. The Philippine Government if will stick to having sex work as a crime should therefore look into Hotels and conceptualize ways to make sure that people who are checking In are not there for commercial se
