An Overview of Diagnosis Neonatal Sepsis with Antimicrobial Management
Neonatal sepsis is one of the most prevalent major health problems, affecting an estimate of around thirty million newbornseach year throughout the world. The onset of sepsis within the first fourty-eight hours after birth is associated with prenatal and perinatal predisposing factors. The on set of sepsis between fourty-eight and seventy-two hours of life usually indicatesnosocomially acquired infections. Klebsiella Pneumonia is the leading pathogenic organism causing neonatal sepsis in Asian countries, and the most important etiological factor for neonatal sepsisis found to be low birth weight. Sepsis score is a useful method for early and rapid diagnosis of neonatal sepsis. Antibiotics are given to most neonates suspected to be infected. Ampicillin and gentamicin are the first line treatment. The occurrence of neonatal sepsis can be brought down by practising clean and safe delivery, early & exclusive breast feeding, strict postnatal cleanliness which should be followed by adequate hand washing and aseptic methods. Neonatal sepsis is the third leading cause of neonatal mortality and a major public health problem. Despite major advances in neonatal medical care, the frequent presence of non-infectious conditions resembling sepsis pose a challenge to the diagnosis of neonatal sepsis, especially seen in preterm infants. Another factor complicating the diagnostic procedure is the absence of optimal diagnostic tests. Neonatal sepsis is among the leading high-risk diseases that infect newborns, especially preterm infants, warranting an aggressive line of treatment. Clinical practitioners are compelled to use broad spectrum antibiotics to neonates with high risk factors and/or signs of suspected infection. But the use of empirical antibiotic coverage and also their prolonged use contribute to the rising incidence of resistance amongst microbial strains. Apart from the high occurrence rate and mortality rate of sepsis in preterm infants, its long-term consequences also include adverse effects on growth and development. In our review, we touch upon the most common doubts and challenges faced during the diagnosis and management of neonatal sepsis. [1]
Integrated Prediction System for Chronic Disease Diagnosis to Ensure Better Healthcare
Technology innovation has made life easy for human beings. Technology is being used everywhere. This also extends to the healthcare sector. The healthcare sector produces a large amount of data each minute. Because of privacy issues, much of the data generated is not used and is not publicly accessible. Healthcare data comes from diverse sources hence it will be always varied in nature. Keeping track of such data has become much easier these days. Predictive analysis in healthcare is an emerging technology that identifies the person with poor health where the risks of developing chronic conditions are more likely and provide better solutions in the field of healthcare. Statistical methods and algorithms can be used to predict the disease before the actual symptoms are revealed in humans. By using data analytics algorithms one can easily predict chronic diseases such as obesity, high/low Blood Pressure, diabetes, asthma, cardiopulmonary disorders. Because of an unhealthy diet, lack of proper exercise, stress, consumption of tobacco, alcohol, etc. chronic diseases are most common these days. If the symptoms of chronic diseases are detected in the early stages, there will be less risk of hospitalization by cost-effectively maintaining better health. Big data analysis and health care can be mixed to produce accurate results. The application of predictive analytics in healthcare is highlighted in this paper. It provides a broader analysis in the prevention of different chronic diseases by using predictive analytics. The paper also includes various issues that arise when handling health care data. For each chronic disease, diverse models, techniques, and algorithms are used for predicting and analyzing. Integration of Adaptive Technologies with Healthcare for the Early Identification and Control of COVID-19 Pandemic Disease
The impact of the COVID-19 pandemic has spread all over the world and it has affected voluminously everyday lives of billions. Social consequences and virus spread that needs to be addressed to take proper action to resolve the challenges faced during this pandemic period. The pandemic needs proper surveillance, monitoring, diagnosis, and identification of infected patients. Most researchers continue to give ways to detect and control the pandemic diseases of this type. Pandemic has made researchers from all areas and virologists consider cross-disciplinary approaches to combat with COVID-19. It needs to be immediate decisions to deal with uncertain conditions. During such a pandemic, the incorporation of healthcare technologies would bring about many solutions with high benefits. Reliable, sustainable, and accessible approaches can be the emphasis of the new digital healthcare approach. In this direction, IoT based smart solutions are introduced and analyzed. The emergencies spanning the globe demand a smart healthcare solution to manage people's lives at every stage. The first pandemic break-out in any part of the world needs early detection of disease and infected individuals to take reasonable measures forward to contain the spread. Web and Mobile based IoT system integrated with healthcare to support the solution that needs to be solved by the emergency posed during this pandemic. To locate COVID-19 cases and reduce the effects of the pandemic, IoT-enabled cognitive solutions are provided. It also addresses new ubiquitous technologies such as AI, Machine Learning, and Big Data Analytics with new innovative methods to integrate the solutions, including wearable devices, RFID, GPS, mobile apps, etc. Concerning the COVID-19 pandemic, the benefits and operational difficulties faced in digitizing these healthcare-cognitive IoT approaches are analyzed. The study would also address internal and external concerns such as practicality, cost, time to measure and execute, and coverage for implementation of this solution. These solutions may include human-machine interaction with the right decision-making capabilities. The paper also focuses on the ethical issues raised in introducing modern interoperable and predictive Healthcare IoT solutions
Rational Distribution Channel Mix for Lifestyle Brands in India – An Empirical Study
Indian lifestyle brands need to understand the importance of their retailing distributionchannels in relation to their overall brand image, products / categories they offer, targetconsumer group and their implications on the overall brand profitability and consumerperceptions over the brand image rather applying standard thumb rules, assumptions andmisconceptions followed by other generalist brands or even short-term lucrative deals offeredby distribution channel partners. It is evident that only few Indian brands are able to createtrue lifestyle brand image in their employees, investors, competitors and consumers mind andtrueness level of majority of Indian lifestyle brands is still a question. Majority of developingand developed Indian lifestyle brands assume that the success of a lifestyle brand is measuredbasis the revenue or profit they generate through having presence across wider distributionchannels and are impatient / unaware of implicit long-term strategical benefits of creating atrue lifestyle brand image in consumers mind using a rational distribution channel mixstrategy. It is true that India is one of the countries with consumers belonging to the widestrange of Religions, Regions, Languages, Sub-Cultures and Economic backgrounds whichmakes it very difficult for any lifestyle brand to have their presence across the country throughvarious distribution channels as each one of them have their own pros and cons for the brand.This makes it furthermore important for lifestyle brands in India to be more careful andefficient in ensuring the adaptation of rational distribution channel mix. It is observed that themajority of Indian lifestyle brands believe they have adopted the right distribution channel mixand it is yielding the best possible revenue and profit. This belief / assumption always distractsthem from analysing the pros and cons of each distribution channel with respect to the overallbrand image and they rather spend most of their time in finding sales channels which are newor latent in nature to be added to the existing distribution channel mix. In this research, wehave analysed twelve months actual sales data across various distribution channels availablein India of few select lifestyle brands and drawn insights to recommend a rational distributionchannel mix for lifestyle brands in India

Experimental Investigation of Cannibalisation by Introducing a Global Brand Abreast Existing Indian Store Brand
Globalization of consumer brands and liberalization of the Indian retail sectors are enabling consumers to conveniently purchase their aspirational Global brands. India being one of the fastdeveloping countries with world’s second largest population and the majority of the retail market being serviced by unorganized retailers, many Global consumer brands are trying to penetrate into the Indian retail market through various routes viz, exclusive branded outlets, franchising and licensing. Ever since the penetration of Global consumer brands have started, the majority of Indian retailers’ and consumers’ perspective towards their own private/store brands is expected to have changed. This change in perspective has put the majority of retailers in India into a quandary and they think that this is surely leading to cannibalization and thereto impacting the store profitability along with losing out their market share slowly to Global brands. In this research, authors have carried out an experiment by introducing a reputed Global apparel brand abreast an existing Indian store apparel brand/private label to investigate; (a) proof, (b) pattern, (c) magnitude, (d) significance, and (e) impact of cannibalization and transpired the outcomes of this experimentation into suggestions to enable brick-and-mortar retailers to design appropriate brand mix strategies
Decentralized Discounting Framework: Insights from an Experiment
Ever since the online retailing format has emerged in India, consumers now have wider options available for them to buy a product at a discounted price and notably, as online stores in India are following the product discounting as one of the key drivers for consumer acquisition, consumers’ perspective towards discount at brick-and-mortar store has changed. This change in consumers’ perspective has put the majority of brick-and-mortar retailers in India into a quandary and they are losing out their market share slowly to online retailers. In this research which is based on recommendations of empirical research previously carried out on the impact of changes in retailer and consumer perspective towards discount post emergence of online stores in India, we have carried out an experiment using decentralized discounting framework to investigate and recommend brick-and-mortar retailers on ideal decentralized discounting strategies to enable brick-and-mortar retailers to design appropriate sales promotions to gain a competitive advantage over online retailing on a discount component
Sales Personnel Attrition Control and Retention – An Integrated Framework for Lifestyle Retailers in India (RSPR-LS)
A majority of organized brick-and-mortar lifestyle retailers in India believe that the cost of Sales Personnel (SP) attrition is insignificant, and this belief has made lifestyle retailers ignore the importance of SP attrition control and retention activities (SACR). Mathematically it may be true that the cost of SP attrition is very low as the average salary of the SP is 5.46 times lesser than that of Non-Sales Personnel (NSP) in the organization, but the fact is a majority of employees in a retail organization who are closest to the market and the consumers are the SP even though they are at the lower levels of retailer’s organizational hierarchy. We determinedly believe that the key to success is in identifying who is closer to the market and the consumer and ensuring such employees (if performing well) are consistently motivated to stay in the organization for a longer duration. The literature, exploratory qualitative primary findings, and empirical evaluation indicate that the existing SACR model of select organized brick-and-mortar lifestyle retailers in India is irrational as it seriously fails to understand the magnitude of the negative impact that is moderated by higher SP attrition rates on the overall store’s revenue and long-term firm’s sustainability. This study was not limited to just evaluating the existing SACR model of retailers in the study and recommending a theoretical framework. Once the RSPR-LS framework was designed that is built on proven theories in the literature, findings and insights from the exploratory phase of this study, and recommendations from previous research works relevant for lifestyle retailing in India, we have experimented the RSPR-LS framework on one of the ten lifestyle retailers in the study over 24 months’ at over 25 percent stores of the select retailer. Experimentation results demonstrate that these stores which have gone through the treatment have shown 37.59 percent improvement in walk-ins conversion rate, 87.54 percent improvement in consumer’s repeat store visit rate that resulted in 20.23 percent improvement in the overall store revenue and 2.00 times improvement in the overall store profit on account of 21.35 percentage points improvement in SP retention rate thereby providing validity and reliability of the proposed RSPR-LS framework in the field
Biocompatible Maghemite Nanoparticles Compatibilization of GG/CMC Blends in Aqueous Solution
Biocompatible polymer blends with natural polymer guar gum (GG), and a modified naturalpolymer carboxymethylcellulose (CMC) have been studied for their compatibilization withbiocompatible maghemite magnetic nanoparticles. Ultrasonic velocity, density, and dilutesolution viscometry methods were used to assess the intermolecular interaction between GG andCMC in the presence of maghemite nanoparticles at 30°C and 40°C. The solution state studiesconfirmed that GG/CMC blends are compatible in the presence of maghemite nanoparticle onlyif the GG content is more than 30% in the blend. These biocompatible polymer blend-maghemitenanocomposites can be used for their applications in controlled drug release formulations
Effect of Performance Review and Faculty Development to Organizational Climate
Faculty performance review, faculty development, and organizational climate are an essential element of the educational institution. More importantly, the mentioned variables have certain connections and interplay with each other. This study describes the performance review, faculty development, and organizational climate of a tertiary education institution. This study used a descriptive-correlation design. 56 faculties took part in the survey using a convenience sampling technique. The researcher adopted and modified an instrument and subjected it to validity and reliability test using Cronbach Alpha which yielded an overall coefficient of .0968. The statistical tools used were: mean, t-test, ANOVA, Pearson-r, and regression analysis. With the help of SPSS 20, it analyzed the gathered data. The study found that the respondents observed faculty performance review contexts. Also, the respondents agreed on the unique perspectives of faculty development. Also, the respondents see that the organizational climate affects the faculty to a great extent. There were significant differences found in the three variables. There was a direct, positive relationship between the three variables of the study. In confirmation, the performance review predicts the organizational climate of the faculty.
