Cyber Attacks Mitigation: Detecting Malicious Activities in Network Traffic – A Review of Literature
Cyber-attacks are becoming more common and over the last decade, many attacks have made top news, targeting manufacturing firms and governmental organisations. Such attacks have triggered substantial financial damage and they've been trying to obstruct key public sector operations. Furthermore, as the Internet of Things (IoT) has arisen, the number of Internetconnected devices is increasingly growing and being an easy target of cyber-attacks. To counter cyber-attacks, information security researchers rely extensively on intrusion detection systems (IDSs) that can identify suspicious activities by comparing patterns of documented attacks or detecting anomaly-based activities. This survey aims to tackle Trust, Protection, identification and activity on wide scale networks and Internet of Things. The proposed research aims at developing a practically deployable cyber security solution to one or more of the cyber-attacks. Multi-Stage Attacks (MSAs), APT, DoS attacks, wireless injection attacks, botnets or other malicious activities will be investigated. Sales Personnel Training – An Integrated Framework for Indian Brick-and-Mortar Retailers
In brick-and-mortar retailing, sales personnel play the most important and complex rolewhereby they are the ones who are connected to consumers directly on a real-time basis.Besides, to this complexity retailers in India find it difficult to recruit well-trained salespersonnel who is an all-rounder. It is observed that majority of bricks-and-mortar retailers inIndia assume: (a) sales personnel in the store are required to assist consumers in finding theright product at the earliest; (b) consumers who walk into their stores have a clearunderstanding of their needs and based on their needs they enquire sales personnel in the storeabout a specific product/category/brand; (c) sales personnel attrition rate in stores is generallyhigher owing to lower pay scale; (d) product-specific training has to be given the highestpriority; (e) designing a common training program relevant to all types of sales personnel isdifficult, and most importantly; (f) existing training efforts have not yielded in any significantpositive impact on the store profitability. Such assumptions and misconceptions have createda predisposition and mindset in sales personnel and sales organization, and they believe thatthey are delivering the best results. In this exhaustive study, we have attempted to design anew sales personnel training framework that attempts to integrate a majority of the elementssuch as training content, trainee, trainer, training time frame in addition to firm-level andconsumer-level evaluation techniques. In this twelve months-long research work we haveanalyzed a select brick-and-mortar retailer’s existing training framework, designed a newintegrated sales personnel training framework, applied it toa select group of experimentalstores to derive insights from the experimentation and check validity and reliability of theproposed framework. Results have demonstrated that more than 35 percent of the consumersrepeat store visit rate could be determined by (a) store profitability that is a positive motivatorto sales personnel to perform better; (b) walk-in conversion rate that is directly affected by thesales pitch of sales personnel which is directly affected by the continuous training efforts; (c)sales personnel monetary incentive earnings that are directly affected by their performancethrough improved learnings; and (d) sales personnel attrition rate that is a result of overallsatisfaction of sales personnel
Practical Lessons for Engineers to adapt towards Industry 4.0 in Indian Engineering Industries

Nanotechnology based Mega Machine Design for Large Scale Air Cleaning – Prospects and Challenges
Air pollution is a major component of environmental degradation in the 21st century worldwide due to the increased use of fossil fuels in various industries and their contribution to contaminating the natural atmosphere around us. Environmental pollution is posing a challenge to human existence and the continuation of human generation on this planet. Environmental degradation is considered a major affecting factor of climate change which includes both global warming driven by industrial emissions of green gases and large-scale shift in weather patterns. This problem is growing on a large scale throughout the world and poses challenges to survival and sustainability. Nanotechnology being universal technology can be used to solve this problem of environmental degradation by cleaning the degraded air on large scale and can counter the contribution of natural and industrial pollution. In this paper, the proposal of construction and use of nanotechnology based mega machine is analyzed and the prospectus and challenges of such machine production and maintenance for large scale air cleaning are discussed. The advantages, benefits, constraints, and disadvantages of production and use of such mega machines from various stakeholders’ points of view are identified. Consumer Communication Deployment Tactics: An Integrated Framework for Lifestyle Brands and Retailers in India (CCF-LS)
Though consumer communication and orientation is a collective responsibility of all the departments/functions across the organization, a majority of lifestyle brands and retailers in India believe that the consumer communication is the deliverable of a single department/function that is widely and erroneously tagged as Marketing Department. This belief is distracting them from understanding the long-term positive impact on consumer patronage and they continue to use high-cost advertisements as one of the major tactics for consumer communication. A single theory, model and framework of consumer behavior from the existing literature available across perspectives, paradigms, and areas of study (Economics, Behavioral Economics, Psychology, Social Psychology, Anthropology, Marketing and so on) is not entirely applicable that could be adopted to suit lifestyle brands/retailers in India and designing a framework without empirical pieces of evidence is also not appropriate. In this study, (i) we have studied over 28 consumer behavior theories, models and frameworks; (ii) analyzed 24 months’ of actual data of a few select organized lifestyle brands and retailers in India; (iii) borrowed experimental findings and insights from previous studies relevant in this context, to identify 50 factors influencing the outcomes of each stage of the consumer decision-making process and selected a few of them that have indicated the high scope of influencing capability by a lifestyle brand/retailer to design an economical and effective framework that is useful in designing consumer communication deployment tactics by a lifestyle brand or retailer in India. Retaining the Power Backup of the Battery and Increased Life Span of the Battery for the Solar System- Challenges and Opportunities
The battery backup plays an important role in storing energy from the solar panel during the daytime. This energy, thus, stored can be utilized for daily usage during day and night. Depending on the amount of power generated from the solar panel the battery bank must be selected. The lifespan of the battery depends on the charging and discharging cycles. The life span also depends on the amount of load connected to the battery as well as the rate at which the current is drained from the battery. It’s critical to note the charging and discharging cycles of the battery must be reduced to improve the life span of the same. This paper explains the different types of batteries and the factors affecting the life span of batteries. The paper also suggests the methods to be followed to improve the life span by proposing a model for charging. This model regulates the charging and discharging cycle of a battery to increase the life span of the battery. The model also regulates the charging current by considering the battery temperature. The raise in battery temperature also reduces battery life. The paper performs the ABCD analysis of the new model considering the various issues related to battery performance and socio economic impacts of the same. This paper concludes with the recommendation to implement the charger for the battery-operated devices that do not require fast charging, thus, improving battery life. This paper also concludes with the statement that the proposed model is not suitable for any battery operated devices, which require fast charging where improved battery life is not so essential
Theory of Brick-and-Mortar Retailing in India (ToR-b)
Brick-and-mortar (B&M) retailers in India are constantly devoting their time, effort, energy, and money in discovering and adopting retailing theories, models, and frameworks that are practiced by the B&M retailers in the developed countries that have matured markets and consumers. This is a clear example of a serious timing issue. We believe the Indian market and consumers are moving towards the same maturity levels, but it is still a long way to go as the Indian consumers belong to the widest variety of religions, regions, languages, cultures, sub-cultures, ethnicities, and socioeconomic backgrounds with divergent needs. In addition to expecting world-class overall store-image, they yet require retailers to facilitate honest and authentic human-led engagement. This means, thoughtful and logical integration of existing theories aligned to, the Indian market; consumer's maturity level; divergent consumer needs are crucial, and this is the core of our theory. The ToR-b adopts elements of retailing theories that are known and suitable for retailing in the Indian context, in addition to identifying (i) new elements influencing honest and authentic humanled engagement; higher consumer-level customization; higher levels of consumer-orientation, (ii) significance of their association and determination with return on investment, (iii) their role in influencing the long-term sustainability of a retailer, and most importantly (iv) their ability to enhance interest among existing and potential employees, investors, and consumer’s minds with a particular retailer. Insights from multiple empirical and qualitative studies, field experiments, and evaluation of consumer-level transactions involved in building this theory made us strongly believe that the overall phenomenon of B&M retailing in India is truly complex and complexity is necessary to an adequate description of a phenomenon. We hope that in addition to laying a foundation for new directions to guide future research on Indian retailing, our theory will provide new and noteworthy insights into the overall phenomenon of B&M retailing in India

Impact of Store Size Reduction on Overall Store Performance – Insights from an Experiment
Majority of brick-and-mortar retailers in India assume that (a) existing store size is ideal totheir retailing format, (b) inventory display density per square foot is optimal, (c) larger thestore size higher the consumer walk-ins, (d) more premium the store location more premiumthe perceived retail store brand positioning in consumers mind, (e) larger the store size higherthe store revenue and most importantly, (f) store revenue reduces in proportion to reduction instore size. Such assumptions and widely followed practice have resulted in increasing pressureon store operating costs for many years. Brick-and-mortar retailers need to understand theimportance of store rent and its implications on the overall store profitability to achieve asustainable store level profit and to achieve this they need to rationalize stores size onconsistent basis. In this research, we have analysed the existing store size across locations ofa select retailer in relation to overall store profitability, selected few loss making stores;especially the ones which are delivering losses owing to higher rent and larger store size,reduced these stores size without compromising the consumer experience aspect, evaluatedthe overall store performance over a period of eleven months to understand the changes in (a)consumer walk-ins, (b) store revenue, and (c) overall store profitability
