    No full text
Since the time online retailing format started getting consumer acceptance in India, consumersnow have wider options available for them to buy a product at a discounted price and notably, asonline stores in India are following the product discounting as one of the key drivers for consumeracquisition, consumers’ perspective towards discount at Brick-and-mortar store has changed. Thischange in consumers’ perspective has put the majority of Brick-and-mortar retailers in India intoa quandary and they are losing out their market share slowly to online retailers. From the existingliterature we have found many discounting frameworks suggested by researchers, but they are allisolated for specific contexts and leave it to retailers to create their own discounting frameworks. In this work, we have attempted to create an integrated discounting framework for Indian brickand mortar retailers by carrying out multiple experiments with different manipulations and under different contexts along with taking clues from past research findings, insights and suggestions along with testing validity and reliability of the proposed framework in the field

Business Architecture Development of Quality Assurance in Higher Education Institutes using TOGAF

    No full text
Recently, quality assurance has attracted widespread attention in higher education institutes in developing countries. Such initiatives mainly focus on standardising higher education while improving the relevance of degree programs. Nevertheless, current quality assurance mechanisms, particularly in developing countries, heavily rely on a document based manual review process. Given the drawbacks associated with such processes, the necessity of technology-based solutions is being recognised. Even though information system applications are widely used nowadays by the universities to increase the efficiency, quality improvement aspects have not been given due focus. TOGAF is a widely accepted cyclic approach for developing enterprise architecture. This study demonstrates how a TOGAF based business architecture can be used to analyse and improve the existing teaching-learning process in higher education as an integral part of quality assurance

    Get PDF
Humongous size of Indian retail market, evolution of modern and external brands friendly retailing formats in addition to attracting many Global lifestyle brands has also prompted many Indian exporters, manufactures, conglomerates and entrepreneurs to launch Indian lifestyle brands. It is evident that only a few Indian brands are able to create true lifestyle brand image in their employees, investors, competitors and consumers mind and the trueness level of the majority of Indian lifestyle brands is still a question. Majority of developing and developed Indian lifestyle brands assume that the success of a lifestyle brand is measured basis the revenue or profit they generate and are impatient and unaware of implicit long- term strategical benefits of creating a true lifestyle brand image in consumers mind. It is true that India is one of the countries with consumers belonging to the widest range of Religions, Regions, Languages, Sub-Cultures and Economic backgrounds which makes it very difficult for any lifestyle brand to own a true lifestyle brand image at National level and makes it furthermore important for them to be more careful and efficient in ensuring adaptation of right Marketing Mix. It is observed that the majority of Indian lifestyle brands believe they have adopted the right Marketing Mix and it is yielding the best possible revenue and profit. This belief/assumption always distracts them from working on their existing Marketing Mix and they rather spend most of their time in finding elements which are new or latent in nature to be added to the existing Marketing Mix. In this research work, we have evaluated existing Marketing Mix of few select Indian lifestyle brands across various product categories and consumer target groups to design a new Marketing Mix by just rationalizing and re-prioritizing all the elements and sub elements of basic “4P’s” of McCarthy’s original ‘Marketing Mix’ proposition along with taking clues from Lavidge and Steiner’s original ‘Hierarchy of Effects Model’
