    Comparative Study on RFID based Tracking and Blockchain based Tracking of Material Transactions

    Radio Frequency Identification & Detection (RFID) technology is used frequently in material and device identification and tracking in business firms and retail shops. In RFID technology tags are used to transmit data in the form of radio waves. The device transmits information from a reader to an RFID computer program. The RFID tags are often used for goods as well as for the followup of pets, Alzheimer's disease patients & vehicles. RFID tag is called an RFID chip as well. This technology supports the tracking of tangible components and materials. Similarly, one of the ICCT underlying technologies called blockchain technology is recently developed and it consists of a growing list of cryptography associated records in the form of chain that has the property of transparency, decentralization, and immune to modifications. Blockchain technology is used for record creation across many computers or digital devices of a process or an activity which cannot be altered retroactively, without altering its subsequent processes or activities. Blockchain technology allows a system to own digital goods, assets, and data and capable to trace the history of everything which is created as a footprint in the past transactions. In this paper, we have analyzed and compared how RFID and Blockchain technologies can be complementary to each other and add new features in material-based tracking in society. The data were gathered from various websites & scholarly journals. Initially, RFID, ICCT & BCT are analyzed in terms of their material tracking properties, then a comparison is made between RFID & BCT in material tracking to give an insight into different complementary technologies in transactions and material tracking

    An Integrated Framework to Derive Optimal Number of Sales Personnel for a Retail Store

    In brick-and-mortar retailing, sales personnel play the most important and complex role whereby they are the ones who are connected to consumers directly on a real-time basis. It is observed that majority of bricks-and-mortar retailers in India assume;(a) store size, (b) average monthly store revenue, (c) store operating hours, and (d) standard store employee cost as a proportion of store revenue are the key factors to arrive at the number of sales personnel required for a store. Such an assumption and widely followed practices have created a predisposition and mindset in store managers and they believe that their store delivers revenue and profit to the best of its potential and more importantly, all the consumers are completely satisfied and happy with the level of service offered by the sales personnel. In this research, we have analysed the existing policies and methodology of arriving at a number of sales personnel for a store, attempted to design a new framework and applied the same through an experiment to evaluate the change in (a) overall store profitability, and (b) sales personnel’s attitude towards consumer orientation

    Financial Impact Assessment of Time Overrun: A Case of Second Small Towns Water Supply and Sanitation Sector Project, Nepal

    Government of Nepal is implementing many water-supply projects through its regular and through many projects. Small Town water Supply Project is one of the major projects in water supply implemented by GoN in support of ADB. Second Small Towns Water Supply and Sanitation Sector Project (STWSSSP) project is based on cost recovery principle. The study is focused to find out factors, magnitude, cost and the way time and cost overrun decreasing the profitabilityfinancially. All 21 sub projects are selected for study. The secondary data especially the requests by the Contractors, recommendations by Consultants and grants by Clients are used for the analysis of time and cost overrun. The financial evaluation of two projects is conducted after time and cost overrun to show the impacts of time and cost overrun in the profitability of the projects. The average time overrun of the overall projects are found 15.83 months with average time overrun of 11.58 months in Terai (plain land) located projects and 20.94 months in Hilly located projects. The sector project is found 10.68% increment in cost after variation with 9.33% in Terai located projects and 12.48% in Hill located projects. Financial profitability of the projects was found decreased due to time and cost overrun. The research concludes that project like SSTWSSSP which are based on the principle of cost recovery has significant impacts due to time and cost overrun. Because loan payment becomes delayed as tariff is only collected after completion of the project.     Investigation on γ-Fe2O3 Nanoparticles Compatibilization on Guar Gum/poly(vinyl alcohol) Blends

    The semi-miscible polymer blends of natural polymer guar gum and synthetic polymer poly(vinyl alcohol) have been studied for their compatibilization with biocompatible γFe2O3nanoparticles. Ultrasonic velocity, density, adiabatic compressibility, and dilute solutionviscometry studies at 30°C and 40°C has confirmed that γ-Fe2O3nanocomposites of GG/PVAblends are compatible. The presence of well-dispersed nanoparticles may have allowed theuncoiling of guar gum molecules to form intermolecular hydrogen bonding with PVA. TheGG/PVA blend – γ-Fe2O3composites are potential candidates for biomedical applications

    A Systematic Literature Review of Lexical Analyzer Implementation Techniques in Compiler Design

    The term “lexical” in lexical analysis process of the compilation is derived from the word “lexeme”, which is the basic conceptual unit of the linguistic morphological study. In computer science, lexical analysis, also referred to as lexing, scanning or tokenization, is the process of transforming the string of characters in source program to a stream of tokens, where the token is a string with a designated and identified meaning. It is the first phase of a two-step compilation processing model known as the analysis stage of compilation process used by compiler to understand the input source program. The objective is to convert character streams into words and recognize its token type. The generated stream of tokens is then used by the parser to determine the syntax of the source program. A program in compilation phase that performs a lexical analysis process is termed as lexical analyzer, lexer, scanner or tokenizer. Lexical analyzer is used in various computer science applications, such as word processing,information retrieval systems, pattern recognition systems and language-processing systems. However, the scope of our review study is related to language processing. Various tools are used for automatic generation of tokens and are more suitable for sequential execution of the process. Recent advances in multi-core architecture systems have led to the need to re-engineer the compilation process to integrate the multi-core architecture. By parallelization in the recognition of tokens in multiple cores, multi cores can be used optimally, thus reducing compilation time. To attain parallelism in tokenizationon multi-core machines, the lexical analyzer phase of compilation needs to be restructured to accommodate the multi-core architecture and by exploiting the language constructs which can run parallel and the concept of processor affinity. This paper provides a systematic analysis of literature to discuss emerging approaches and issues related to lexical analyzer implementation and the adoption of improved methodologies. This has been achieved by reviewing 30 published articles on the implementation of lexical analyzers. The results of this review indicate various techniques, latest developments, and current approaches for implementing auto generated scanners and hand-crafted scanners. Based on the findings, we draw on the efficacy of lexical analyzer implementation techniques from the results discussed in the selected review studies and the paper provides future research challenges and needs to explore the previously under-researched areas for scanner implementation processes

    Integrated Intelligent Education System using Adaptive IoT Technology

    The Internet has transformed its original form into connecting objects from a medium of connecting networks, people, institutions, and countries. The new Internet of Things technology allowed the physical objects to interact, exchange information, and even monitor each other through sensors, code, and networking protocols, what we see around us, and what we are around. Such technological advancement brought about a sudden paradigm shift, just like other industries, even in the education system in the form of e-learning, m-learning, i-learning, mlearning, u-learning, o-learning, etc. The word education is slowly transforming as 'smart education', ‘intelligent-education’, ‘online education’, ‘smart education’, ‘ubiquitous education’, etc. By delivering enhanced teaching-learning experience, streamlining operative effectiveness, and providing real-time, cognizance into the performance of students’, educational institutions are capable of enhancing teaching-learning experience through IoT. A theoretical model is presented in this paper aimed at automating every entity of the education system and the elements involved in it to enrich and improve, as well as change, the knowledge ecosystem's end-to-end  learning lifecycle. The proposed model ‘autonomous intelligent smart ubiquitous campus’ for IoT based education environment discusses various functional entities of the central digital nerve system of the HE campus with their perspectives and challenges in a real-world scenario.     Information and Communication technology has played a vital role in various aspects of our life. In our present study, we focus on the impact of ICT in communication, education and learning. ICT ushers with both negative and positive impacts on the life of humans. It influences students’ knowledge, attitude and skill. ICT promotes a learning environment, among teachers and students, by providing virtual space and experience, mediated through technology. Smart classroom induces interest, elicits students’ attention, elevates their understanding capacity, grasping skills and memory, with the help of multimedia teaching aids. It brings focus to the topic. In this fast-moving technology mediated world, usage of mobile phones and social media has become inexorable. The global phenomenon—anytime, anywhere learning—is made possible because of the ubiquity of smartphones. With traditional classroom learning on one side, social media platforms, on the other side, are providing virtual spaces for unconventional and collaborative learning. Students choose such technologies as supportive alternatives for their academic-intended communication with teachers and peers. Through this study, the researchers aim to measure the attitude of college students towards social media and the related influence on their academic performance, with reference to Coimbatore region. A survey was conducted among 507 college students from Coimbatore, chosen through a multistage stratified random sampling technique. The demographic variables—including age, gender and educational qualification and the dependent variables—included Academic performance, Time spent on social media per day, Time spent on social media during weekdays, Time spent on social media during weekends. Further result states that there is sizeable relationship between the employed social media attitude variables and the academic performance of the students, and no relationship with the time spent on social media. However, it was found that among social media attitudes, addictiveness and communication are the best predictors of academic performance

    Developing an Industry 4.0 Readiness Model for Indian Engineering Industries

    For India to be a global economic superpower, the Indian Engineering Industry which at present is the largest foreign exchange earner must make its strong presence in the global markets. Industry 4.0 is one such initiative which has the power to transform the Indian Engineering Industry to be globally competitive along several strategic dimensions. Industry 4.0 is gradually making inroads and yet, there is no model to assess whether the Indian Engineering Industry is prepared to implement Industry 4.0. This study develops a multi-dimensional Industry4.0 readiness model by analysing in-depth the extant literature. A theoretical framework for assessment is developed. Further, the developed model is qualitatively analysed using the ABCD framework. Practical application of Industry 4.0 readiness model in Indian Engineering Industries is discussed. This is the first Industry 4.0 readiness model developed for Indian Engineering Industries

In certain situations, knowledge acquired remains surfacebound features of problems, as learned from school classes and textbook presentations. TheCognitive computing process uses the available data to react to changes in order to make the rightdecisions based on specific learning processes from past experiences. In the case of cognitiveapprenticeship process, there is a need to bring deliberately the thinking process and thoughtsemerge, to produce them to be visible, whether in the case of writing, reading, or problem solving.The thoughts of the teacher must be completely visible to all the students, while the thinking ofstudents must be clearly visible and readable to the teacher. The mental capabilities of students aredeveloped through the cognitive skills that the students need to learn to be successful in school.To effectively understand, write, read, analyze, remember, think, and solve all the problems, thestudents of these cognitive skills should gather so as to function collectively and properly. If theseskills become weak, the students will start to struggle, unable to face problems and solve themcorrectly. The new learning method makes the students observe, perform and practice the subjectsfrom both the teachers and their peers. In view of this, this study of literature review investigatesand explains the concept of IoT by conducting a systematic review and assessment of corporateand communal white papers, scholarly research articles, journals and papers, professional dialogues and discussions with researchers, academicians, scholars, educational experts along with online database available. Because they play a big part in the transportation service at the airport. When the pressure exerted by work increases it negatively affects their physical and mental health. Stress in one direction or another is felt by many people. The agenda of this review article is to scrutinize the stressors and strategies employed by staff in overcoming work-related stress. This article contains an expected ideal condition, current status, and research gap. Based on the identified research gap and its qualitative analysis using the ABCD framework, a research agenda is identified.
