    Complex Determinants Influencing Inappropriate Antibiotic Use - A Systematic Review

    Antibiotic medicine is a kind of antimicrobial substance used to fight against the bacteria entered to the human body and hence is considered as a most important category of antibacterial agents to fight against bacterial infections either by killing them or inhibiting their growth. Antibiotic medications are widely used both for preventing and curing infections in human beings, animals, and agricultural plants but are not effective against viral infections, such as the common cold, flu, coughs, sore throats, etc. Even though antibiotics found their importance in fighting against bacterial infections, inappropriate use of them in humans, animals, and agricultural plants has considered as one of the reasons for developing antimicrobial resistance in them and which has several negative effects from different stakeholders’ points of view. In this paper, through a systematic review, we made an attempt to study the determinant issues and complex affecting factors which influence the inappropriate antibiotic use and its consequences in controlling bacterial infections. The study focus on identifying and analyzing misuse of antibiotics including challenges involved in the inappropriate use of Antibiotics, the determinant factors influencing the inappropriate use of antibiotics through a systematic review, predict the determinant factors affecting the process of inappropriate use of antibiotics in an ideal situation which is the final goal of antibiotics research, developing a model by identifying the determinant factors which affects the decision of inappropriate use of antibiotics in society by various stakeholders. It also includes identifying the research gap which is the difference between current status and future anticipated optimistic ideal state and to develop research agendas based on identified research gap on inappropriate use of antibiotics and its effect on human health.     Input and Output Driven Sales Personnel Performance Measures: Insights from an Experiment

    It is a globally accepted strategy that, retaining existing consumers is significantly costeffective than focussing on acquiring new consumers. In brick-and-mortar retailing, salespersonnel play the most important and complex role whereby they are the ones who areconnected to consumers directly on a real-time basis. It is observed that the majority ofbrick-and-mortar retailers in India use measures to measure sales personnel performancewhich is mathematically derived numbers viz. average transaction value (ATV), averagebasket size (ABS) and contribution margin percentage (GM%) and these are all outputdriven measures. Such output driven measures are making the sales personnel’s rolefurthermore complex and in turn, their focus is expected to have shifted from consumerneeds to these output driven measures set by their management. In this research, we havecarried out an experiment using input driven measures viz. category invoice penetration(CIP) and invoices/bills generated by the sales personnel per day and evaluated the change in(a) sales personal attitude towards consumer orientation and (b) overall store profitability

    Security was not a major concern of the past in Information Technology Organizations. Butpresently, due to the vast growth in fraud and hacking techniques, the security of organizationsis a great concern. Organizations usually spend millions every year just to protect theirenvironment and to maintain security. Yet, no company claims to be a hundred percent secureas fraudulent techniques are more tricky and latest. As the hackers are becoming hard andtricky, the major Information Technology (IT) Organizations are willing to pay a large sum ofmoney for providers offering services of enterprise security schemes. The hackers are alwaysready to intrude into the company's valuable information sources. As per the recent survey by'Security Week', nearly seventy percentages of respondents have faced a security threat whichended up in the loss of valuable information or the collapse of functioning last year. Anemployer of the company can indeed be a major attacker than an outside intruder. An employeeof the company is already having all privileges to use resources of the company while variousother ways are needed for an outer intruder for accessing the same company's network or data.Cisco, the networking giant has a major focus on Enterprise Security Policies. The companyhas seen a valuable improvement in the last few decades, which shows the importance ofsecurity. Cisco had recently released data that showed a lack of security policies in about 23percentages of companies worldwide. More than 70% of Information Technology persons saythat their organizations lack behind in areas of security policy. Large numbers of IT peoplefail to practice security policies as they are not easily understandable. For every organization,policies are the building blocks. They function as road maps which each employee of thecompany uses in various ways. Developing a well-defined policy requires artistic skill. Federalagencies have a Statutory obligation is available for federal agencies for maintaining day-today security policies.     Operational Assessment of Public Transport: A Case of Kathmandu, Nepal

    In absence of the railway at Kathmandu, Nepal, public transport effectiveness needs to be assessed. The paper aims to assess the operational performance of public transportation in Kalanki-Kalimati-Tripureshwor-Bhotahity forward 6700 m and backward 6200 m section of Kathmandu. Key Performance Indicators (KPI) for performance assessment were listed from the literature review and finalized through departmental expert consultation based on average mean score analysis of availability, cost of collection, quality and necessity of the data. Based on the finalized 4 KPI along with 29 micro KPI, performance of SajhaYatayat, bus and microbus were compared categorizing under economical, service, safety and people perception by collecting data through field survey. The economic analysis reveals that microbus has the highest internal rate of return and benefit cost ratio highest as 28.55% and 1.35 respectively while the bus has the highest revenue per kilometer and cost per kilometer as 104.94 and 79.012 respectively. Service indicators analysis reveals that SajhaYatayat has the highest travel time ratio and running time as 1425sec and 1.66, microbus has the highest journey time as 1555.86 sec, the bus has the highest running speed, journey speed and running index as 17.39 kph, 16.42 kph and 0.68 while traveling from Kalanki to Bhotahity respectively. The average passenger waiting index is 0.88. The affordability index of microbus is 4.47% respectively. Bus punctuality of SajhaYatayat is non-frequent but bus and microbus are Frequent. According to a schedule questionnaire survey with 94 respondents, the result of people perception indicators reveals that 21.27% of respondents are not satisfied with SajhaYatayat, bus and microbus. It is concluded that SajhaYatayat is performing better among three-selected public transport in the study route i.e. SajhaYatayat, bus and microbus are performing in decreasing order

    Transforming Indian Engineering Industries through Industry 4.0: An Integrative Conceptual Analysis

    The recent innovations in both industrialisation and informatisation technologies have culminated into a new generation of manufacturing paradigm. This manufacturing innovation promises mass customization due to flexibility in manufacturing, improved product quality and safety, new productivity levels, creation of smart products and services. Industry 4.0 is gradually making its presence felt in Indian Industries. Indian Engineering Industries being the largest segment in the Industry, holds immense potential if it embraces Industry 4.0. This research conceptually examines the effect of Industry 4.0 on Indian Engineering Industries on both the heavy and light engineering industries. ABCD framework is used to investigate the effect of Industry 4.0 in these Industries. The study finds that Indian engineering industry can be transformed to produce smart products and services, by the application of Industry 4.0. This is the first study to evaluate the effect of Industry 4.0 on Indian Engineering Industries. It also contributes to the theoretical need for evaluating the effects of Industry 4.0 in the developing world

    Artificial Intelligence-Based Consumer Communication by Brick-and-Mortar Retailers in India Leading to Syllogistic Fallacy and Trap – Insights from an Experiment

    It is observed that a majority of organized brick-and-mortar (B&M) retailers in India believethat they have adopted the latest Artificial Intelligence-based consumer communication(AIBCC) tools/solutions and are yielding accurate outputs that can be used for interpretation,conclusion, and decision-making concerning consumer communications. Thisbelief/assumption in itself is a classic example of a syllogistic trap. This study reveals that theB&M retailers in India are least worried about AIBCC tools/solutions repeatedly sendingpromotional/campaign messages to consumers based on their past transactional data till theycome back again to the store without knowing the ‘Purpose of Previous Purchase’. This ismere because the cost of such communications is negligible (Just costs about 1 US dollar forsending 500 messages to a mobile phone number). We have also observed that the B&Mretailers are unaware of the potential negative impacts of false/fake/artificialpromotional/campaign messages being sent to consumers as a result of syllogistic fallacycaused by the AIBCC tools/solutions on the overall brand image in the consumers’ minds.Experimentation results demonstrate that the existing belief of the organized B&M retailers inIndia which assumes that the AIBCC tools/solutions are accurate is just a misconception anddoes not hold. On the other hand, when we experimented by identifying two main gaps (inputand output-level) in their existing AIBCC tool/solution for six months at over 35 percent storesof a select retailer, the real treatment effect indicated that the experimental group of stores hasshown (i) two times higher rate of conversion to any promotional/campaign messages; (ii) 19times better in capturing the ‘Purpose of Purchase’ field; (iii) 22% lesser consumer communication expenses; (iv) 22.80% higher revenue generation; and most importantly; (v) 4.25 times higher store-level profits in comparison with the control group of stores. We have also noted that in the control group of stores about 36% of the customers/consumers who have received the promotional/campaign messages from the automated AIBCC tool/solution were not real consumers. Besides finding evidence of the syllogistic fallacy and trap, our results are also consistent with our ‘Theory of B&M Retailing in India and the concept of ‘Debiasing by Instruction’ by Evans et al
