اردو میں ناول کی ابتدائی تنقید
Urdu novel and its preambles have been found in the third decade of 19th century. Early scholarly works have been disccussed the structure, form and subject matters of the newly emerged genre. This treasure-troove has been mounted up by the emergence of a magnum-opus by Ali Abbas Hussaini titled Urdu Main Novel ki Tanqeedi Tareekh. This article has traced down the early criticism of Urdu novels and how the writers have helped this form to grow in a new passage of time
اردو غزل پر کلیم الدین احمد کی تنقید
Kaleemuddin Ahmed was a critic more famous for his severe criticism on Urdu ghazal than his other works, though his other works too merit an appreciation. This paper quotes from Kaleemuddin Ahmed what he has said against Urdu ghazal first. The author then critically assesses his point of view and says that most of what Kaleemuddin Ahmed has written on Urdu ghazal is based on his study and appreciation of western literature and he has evaluated Urdu ghazal by the measures and standards of western literary theories and values. With quotations from some well-known scholars of Urdu, the author has reassessed whatever has been written about Urdu ghazal, its importance and its cultural and literary value against the backdrop of the environs in which ghazal developed and prospered. The author feels that every literary work has a cultural background and it should be assessed and appreciated with those standards in mind
میرؔ کی شاعرانہ عظمت اور ’’بحرِ مضارع مثمن اخرب مکفوف محذوف مقصور‘‘
In this article, poetic grandeur of Mir Taqi Mir has been analysed with specific reference of prosody. Mir mostly chose poetic meter of Muzaray Musamman Akhrab Makfoof Mehzoof Maqsoor for his poetic expression, which is not customary. But after a deep study of his poetry, it is established that Mir is proficient in the use of this poetic meter in such a way that his readers got familiar with this unusual meter. Creative intelligence of Mir has created four hundred and sixteen ghazals, poems, masnavi and elegies in this meter. A brief analysis of this meter in the alphabetical order of radeef has been presented in this article. In the 21st century, it is a prevalent thought that learning prosody spoils poetry of a creative soul, but it has been critically proved by scholar that all the streamline poet of words have well articulated in the craft of prosody which help them to create universal poetry of and from all the ages

Urdu Naat kay Jadeed Rujhanaat (Research Analysis of Urdu Naat) by Dr. Shaukat Zareen Chugtai is a research thesis of Ph.D. by the author. In this article, the author has written about different subject matters used in Naats, such as philosophy, history and the ones in the light of Quran and Hadiths. The groundwork also includes references of different contributors to Urdu Naat. Thus this research has attained an important place in Urdu Literature. Umrao Tariq is a famous fiction writer of our age. Maatoob is his important and multi dimentional novel. In this novel, he raised many questions and presented complications of the post modern era. Especially in the feminist perspective, study of this novel is very meaningful. In this article the researcher has tried to analyze various aspects of feminist approach in the novel Maatoob. The study has also highlighted the inner crises of the women, which forces her to express herself in various ways. It is also noted that the author has deviated from the prevalling techniques of the writing of this genre and tried to experiment new way to prove his point

Before the Independence in 1947, the Urdu syllabi taught at schools had some peculiar views and certain literary and linguistic aspects. Also, the writers of these textbooks had their own world view. The writer in this article has presented the excerpts from a few textbooks of Urdu taught at different schools in pre-independence era with critical comments and analysis. The article takes into account the pedagogical needs of the students with reference to cultural and political perspective. A critical review of these books with a special emphasis on linguistic, grammatical and stylistic aspects and cultural norms is also an aim of the paper

Ziau-ul-Qadri Badayuni was a poet known for his naat poetry. Keeping in line with the tradition of using words and expressions that go with the use of wine and drinking in Persian and Urdu poetry, Zia-ul-Qadri Badayuni has used a large number of such vocabulary. This article traces such words and expressions in his naat vocabulary and explains their background along with meanings. It also takes into account the possible semantic explanations. The author criticizes the use of some words in some couplets where it sounds irreverent. Article traces as many as 186 such couplets and quotes many of them as examples

The magical realism or magic realism is a genre of fiction. Also known as marvellous fiction, it intermixes realism with fantasy and magical or highly imaginative ideas to create a surreal or realistic picture of the world around, going through one upheaval after other, giving the impression of a magic spell instead of the real world. The technique was popularised in fiction by some of the Latin American fiction writers. This article introduces the concept of the genre, its technique and some of the prominent writers whose works have influenced the growth of this genre. It also evaluates and criticises some aspects of such works
امیر خسرو، حسن سجزی اور واقعۂ اسیری: چند غلط فہمیوں کا ازالہ
Ameer Khusrau, the great poet, prose writer, musician, Sufi, linguist and an intellectual, was arrested during a battle in Multan. Historians have given different accounts of Ameer Khusrau’s life and his arrest. One of such accounts is also attributed to Ameer Hasan Sajzi Dehlvi, a historian, writer and poet. The author of this article has proved that different narrations about Ameer Khusrau’s arrest have many inaccuracies and some of the writers have either misunderstood or misquoted the historians. The author feels that Ameer Khusrau, despite his genius, has not been treated fairly in the annals of history. He has proved with historical evidence in this article that many things and events quoted about Ameer Khusrau and his arrest are incorrect or only have half truths

Shibli Nomani (1857-1914), undoubtedly one of the towering figures of Urdu literature written in the post 1857-era, is sometimes criticised for some of his views and the issues that he discussed in his books and other literary works. The issues and burning topics that attracted Shibli much had certain aspects and there were certain reasons behind Shibli’s attention being diverted to those topics. This paper explains the peculiar social, political, literary and religious factors that shaped Shibli and his views. The writer has taken into account the early life of Shibli, his upbringing and early education at religious schools (madrassas), Sir Syed Ahmed Khan’s influence on him and his leaning towards a balanced view viz-a-viz eastern and western sources of knowledge while being associated with Nadwat-ul-Ulema, Lucknow. The article also considers Shibli’s various literary works in this analysis
