روزنامہ ’’جنگ‘‘ میں شائع ہونے والے اردو قطعات کا جائزہ
Al-Hilal, Zamindar, Comrade, Imrooz etc were the prominent Urdu newspapers of subcontinent founded by the literary figures namely Abul Kalam Azad, Maulana Muhammad Ali Johar, Maulana Zafar Ali Khan, Chiragh Hasan Hasrat etc. That is why the color of literature was prominent in their journalism. Once such newspaper is the Daily Jang. Mir Khalil-ur-Rehman started publishing it from Delhi and brought it to Pakistan after the establishment of Pakistan. Jang is the most widely read and most popular newspaper in Pakistan which started publishing poetic pieces (qat’at). For this purpose, Daily Jang selected the very famous poet and philosopher of his time, Raees Amrohvi, who wrote qat’at for forty years continuously till his death (1988) and was called a founder of newspaper qat’at. After his death, the famous poet of the present era Anwar Shaoor started writing in the Daily Jang and is still associated with it. The research under review is about the journalistic qat’at, how it got started in Pakistani journalism, especially in Jang newspaper and what is the importance of Urdu qat’at in journalism. The research under reviews the events that have been published since the establishment of Pakistan in the Daily Jang newspaper.

The art of characterization is of utmost significance in Urdu Fiction. When Aristotle formed six basic elements of a tragedy, he considered plot and characterization to equal significance. The creation of characters is an integral element of urdu fiction, excluding which cannot create good fictional work. Characters represent their time, locale, and profession. Among miscellaneous characters of Urdu fiction 'the personification of Moulvi' is an important one. This one is not only portrayed in poetry but also occupied a significant place in fictional narratives. Specially in fictional Urdu narratives this character depiction has got twofold appraisal because it is very important in terms of its impact in rural communities. This research article, in perspective of rural Punjab (Pakistan), is presenting varied descriptions of moulvi. In this way it is not only providing social assessing but also life, because fictional narrative is reflection of social life.

Akhtar Raza Saleemi is a prominent urdu novelist of 21st century. He is the first urdu novelist who introduced Hazarvi life and rituals in urdu novel. His both novels Jaage hain Khawab mein and Jander speciallynbsp; focus the cultural activities of Hazara region in the post colonial context. This article presents the linguistic contributions of the renowned Urdu linguist Prof. Dr. Mirza Khalil Ahmad Baig who is the author of more than twenty books. He is one of the major authors who contributed towards Urdu linguistics, postmodern theory and stylistics. According to Mr. Baig, the beginning of Khadi Boli is the actual beginning of Urdu and the linguistic theory regarding the beginning and evolution of Urdu presented by Dr. Masud Husain Khan is the most acceptable theory in the history of Urdu language. His thoughts reflect the sociolinguistic and psycholinguistic perspectives of Hindi and Urdu. He is one of the leading figures in the field of Urdu linguistics whose approach is purely scientific and his research and analysis is based on the principles of modern linguistics. Zaban, Usloob aur Usloobiyat, Urdu ki Lisani Tashkeel, Tanqeed aur Usloobiyati Tanqeed, Ek Bhasha Jo Mustarad Kar Di Gai, Masud Husain Khan: Ahwal-o-Asar and Lisani Masail-o-Mubahis are some of his marvelous books on latest issues and debates in Urdu liguistics.

Criticism is a domain of literature which builds a bridge between the reader and the text. Literary movements in Urdu, support criticism as a tool for understanding culture as well. Dr. Muhammad Ali Siddiqui is such a critic who in itself a marxist but also an anarchist while taking the view of culture and society. His critical approaches have been discussed in detail while giving special attention to his viewpoint of literature as a changing mission of society.

The article begins tracing the evolution and development of Urdu journalism and its journey from the pre-partition to the post-partitition period in the sub-continent, along with providing a list of well-known magazines and newspapers published in the region. This brief background is followed by a detailed discussion of the impact of Urdu language on the journalism of Gilgit-Baltistan (GB). Urdu began to make its presence felt in GB in the real sense after 1948 .However ,it was Urdu literature that entered the region before Urdu journalism .Urdu journalism started in GB with Urdu weekly newspapers which ,owing to their popularity, later turned into daily newspapers.
Not only has GB played an active role in promoting Urdu journalism through print media in the form of newspapers and magazines,but also promoted Urdu journalism through electronic media. The credit to promote Urdu journalism through electronic media goes to Radio Pakistan Skardu which took an initiative broadcasting news and other programmes in Urdu and Balti. However, Radio Pakistan Gilgit acted as a catalyst in the promotion of Urdu journalism as well as Urdu language and literature. Moreover, the launching of FM 93 and FM 99 in Gilgit proved to be a turning point in the promotion of Urdu journalism in the region. Nevertheless, it would be unfair not to mention the role played by television and internet in its promotion in GB. Because of easy access to internet, GB is well-connected with the rest of the country and many people of GB have joined both print and electronic media and are contributing towards the development of Urdu

Mir Taqi Mir is one of the leading poet of Urdu. His prose works include Faiz-i-Mir, a social history of his Era. Faiz-i-Mir compiled by Sharif Husain Qasmi has created a misunderstanding about the family affairs of Mir. This misunderstanding has been analysed in this paper in the light of historical proofs and authentic sources. This paper is also very important as this proves Mir being the father of two sons and one daughter as per historical and literary accounts

In this context, Pakistani languages and literature should be used as a tool to promote national cohesion, as well as bring reforms in the society. These powerful communication instruments could be served in constructing a national identity, shaping social realities and developing patriotism among Pakistanis. Through patriotic literary works, poetic creations, we can foster peace and harmony among the various ethnic and linguistic groups in the country.

Dr. Ghulam Mustafa Khan (1912-2005) was one of the greatest personalities of Ilm-o-Adab. His enormous contribution to Research, Criticism, Linguistics, Literature and Academic curricula has been widely appreciated and acknowledged. At the initial stage of Sindh University, he became Head of Urdu Department and made it effective. The present article is an attempt to cover his critical sense and features in his writings
