Poets who contributed in this form gave importance to aesthetical value as well as social problems that were emerged by political circumstances. In classical age of Urdu ghazal, poets adopted symbolic style. During colonial period Urdu ghazal faced a very crucial time and struggled for its survival but the poets did not forget their social and political responsibilities. No full textIn this article, one of aspect of poetical craftsmanship emerging out the art of choosing words having phonetically resemblance or homo graphic effects giving birth to 'Sanat-e-Tajnees', has been discussed keeping in view of the poetry of Mir Taqi Mir. The writer has tried to establish the point that Mir had special longing for this art of expression and play of words. Mir not only liked such Rhetoric but also considered it an essential part of great poetry. Tajnees is such a craft of words which has various types, forms or kinds. In this essay, all the prominent forms and kinds of Tajnees have been discussed and various examples have been given out of Mir's poetry. No full textThe decline of Mughal Empire in 18th Century badly affected all spheres of life. Social and administrative set up turned into anarchy which ultimately distorted the contours of civilization. Economic and moral values were also lost. In such chaotic situation, it was only Urdu poetry which flourished. However, the prevailing circumstances affected Urdu poetry and resultantly the element of dejection, despondency, hopelessness and pessimism that brought Urdu poetry closer to mysticism. This research paper focuses on the golden age of Urdu poetry with special reference to economic, social and cultural values and norms: and without its cognizance the proper comprehension and appreciation of Urdu Poetry is useless
