Those writers having a dream of social change through their writings sometimes prefer to make a comrade in pen a companion of life. In Urdu literature such couples got a fame (Sajjad Zaheer and Razia, Faiz and Alyess, Imtiaz Taj and Hijab, Ashfaq and Bano) whereas some underwent ordeals and miseries (Jaan Nisar and Safia,Kishwar and Yousuf,John Elia and Zahida) but one glaring example of a golden couple of Prem Chand and Shiva Rani  has been ignored in Urdu research and criticism. In fact this article compensates such loss. Shiva Rani was a child widow who was debarred for second marriage and Prem Chand himself was not allowed to contract second marriage in the presence of first wife. Their marriage proved both of them as "Rebels" of religious customs but real rebel of tradition was father of Shiva Rani, who gave an advertisement in a paper that he intended to find a match for his daughter who is child widow

The tradition of urdu novel is very old. Urdu novelists have been taking interest in culture of South Punjab since the dawn of twentieth century. This aspect of Urdu novel was almost neglected by researchers. I discuss it by examining writing of numerous urdu novelist i.e. Lala Doulat Roy, Quratulain Haider, Shoukat Sidiquei, Syed Shabir Hussain, Bano Qudsia, Imran Iqbal and Mustansar Hussain Tarar. Old urdu novelist Lala Doulat Roy, in "Mujhey Zaror Parrho", criticizes some old customs and conventions that are exploiting inhabitants of South Punjab. Mysticism is one of basic elements in early Urdu novelists.  I shed light on narration of rites and religious activities on several tombs of Muslim saints in Multan and Uch Shareef.  People enthusiastically participate in festival of Urs on tombs. In "Seeta Hirn", famous novelist Quratul Ain Haider describes the ways of living of people of Bahawalpur desert and she is highly critical of their customs. Shoukat Sidiquei becomes most important novelist in context of my research. The third volume of novel "Jangloos" deals with feudal culture of Siraiki region. He effectively pointes out the crualties of feudals in south punjab. I argue that Imran Iqbal and Syed Shabir Hussain are in agreement with Shoukat Sidiquei. They are critical of tradition Peer Parassti to improve social conditions in South Punjab. Mustansar Hussain Tarar writes about Siraiki people living on the bank of Sindh river. He points out moral corruption in the families of these fishermen. I opine, in this paper, that all urdu novelists writing about South punjab can be divided into two groups. One group, Quratul Ain Haider, Mustansar Hussain Tara, Bano Qudsia, negatively depicts culture of South Punjab and they talk about moral weaknesses and social ills of South Punjab. Second group, Shoukat Sidiquei, Imran Iqbal, Syed Shabir Hussain, has been showing positive side of South Punjab in their novels. They are sympathetic to Siraiki people and their criticism is intended to improve living conditions of Siraiki people.

Naqoosh started its literary journey in March, 1948 as a representative magazine of progressive movement. Ahmed Nadeem Qasmi and Hajra Masroor were editors of this dynamic lietrary venture. Both of them were prominent figures of progressive literary movement. They have advocated the philosophy of the movement by including the writings of progressive writers in Naqoosh. In the 3rd volume of magazine, they included controversial short story of Minto "Khol Do" and as a result of that they faced six month ban on magazine. Government did not stop their pressure after the ban so in this depressing atmosphere Ahmed Nadeem Qasmi and Hajra Masror were forced to quit the editorship of the magazine in November, 1949

Whether it is the classical heritage of literature or the contemporary, both have been contributing in lime lighting the deleterious features of the society, rather efforts were of a society which is devoid of all toxics. Commenting on females as creatures of poor or no caliber is quite easy; hence their contributive services to the society cannot be ignored altogether. Nazar-e-Sajjad Haider is one of many female writers who have struggled for the rights of females in a male oriented society. She wrote her first novel in 1911 when she was hardly fifteen or sixteen years old. She wrote many novels, short stories and essays and her manuscripts have the core objective of education for the girls, allowing them for their right to marry of their choice and providing all the rights that are salient features of a civilized society. She may be symbolized as a great feminist of her time. She was lady with a high educational profile, a liberal mind but with a moderate temperament, she was an advocate of the women rights within a certain curriculum of women identity. These were the personalities who voiced their concerns in literature which has effects in their time period. These concerns of violation and promotions of women rights has no end. It is still the need that these concerns may be raised now on a wider horizon, as the malpractices have also taken new turns. Pens are to flow to curb these activities.

Mohsin Naqvi (1947 - 1996) is considered among some of the most renowned and unique litterateurs of Urdu Literature who revitalized Urdu Poetry in Pakistan through their skilled art and masterly imagination. In addition to being a well-distinguished romantic poet, Mohsin Naqvi is also known as an excellent orator, a well-known journalist and a skilled creator of both Urdu poetry and prose who held distinguished position among his contemporaries. Today, we do not find many litterateurs in contemporary Pakistani era that have tried, tested and recognized almost all genres of Urdu poetry. Accordingly, this fact makes Mohsin even more prominent that he even included specialties of Urdu poetry such as Hamd, Naat, Salam, Manqabat and Marsiya, in addition to his core competency of creating magnificent Urdu ghazals and nazms (poems). Mohsin Naqvi is widely regarded as a deep thinker. He does not think of religious poetry as merely a collection of poems but essentially pour out his beliefs, maturity, awareness and philosophy of life in it. The fact, that Mohsin created and presented new tactics, phraseologies and thoughts through his religious poetry that were clearly well-distinguished from those of his contemporaries. The Topical division of Mohsin Naqvi's religious poetry from (Hamd-O-Naat to Risai Adab) shows that Mohsin Naqvi practiced in almost genres in religious poetry. In this context, a detailed analysis of Mohsin's religious poetry reveals that he took diligent care in keeping poetic trends and traditions, accent, phraseologies and power of expression alive

John B. Gilchrist was very important grammarian of Urdu language in the late 18th century. He, after arrival in India, learnt Urdu and other vernacular languages here. He compiled English to Urdu dictionary and Urdu (Hindoostanee) grammar to preserve the grammatical rules and vocabulary of Urdu language from common and literary circles. The history of this language discussed it just an important work formally. It was not just the compilation of works of Urdu language. Gilchrist set a plan to discover and built the structure of language of command for the upcoming colonial rule of East India Company of England. He set the three degrees of Urdu language with examples to rule on the natives of India. The pattern of "language of command" by Bernard S.Cohn is also discussed in this article to strengthen the said thesis. The language of command plan can also be derived from the books published under the title of "Hindoostanee Philology" by John Gilchrist
