The Progressive Movement was an organized, active and effective
movement of the twentieth century which promoted logical reasoning and
twentieth century analysis in Urdu literature especially Urdu criticism. The ideas
and writings of Karl Marx and Engels, which expose human history to
material realities rather than ideas, influenced the thinking and
consciousness of critics of the Urdu progressive movement. Among these
critics, Akhtar Hussain Raipuri, Sajjad Zaheer and Majnoon Gorakhpuri
laid the foundations of Urdu progressive criticism in the context of
Marxist thought and philosophy

By the beginning of the twentieth century, the British Colonial system had
become so strong that the power of the British government had not sunk. In this
scenario, a philosophical Poet Iqbal was born in the Indian subcontinent. He foresaw
how dangerous and deadly the effects of the colonial system could be. Allama Iqbal
had a deep political awareness and understanding of the political issues of his time. He
was of the view that a nation that had long been colonized and the people of the
subcontinent had fallen apart in the cultural, intellectual, political and social contexts.
The dominant Islamic civilization and culture was theirs. For them, Islamic civilization
is the permanent and true capital of the Muslim, because the Islamic Civilization and
culture depend on more spiritual values than materialism.The torture of the Colonial
System was so ingrained in the mind that it had accept slavery mentally, inside them

Urdu drama, though in its inception was a purely an artistic and
musical performance in the era of Wajid Ali Shah, but during the
independence struggle in the twentieth century and social upheaval of this

has a symbolic color. His symbols have a deep meaning. His poetry is

poems, it is necessary to study the cultural and historical background.
Similarly, to understand some of his poems, it is necessary to be familiar
with Islamic traditions. Because his poetry contains a lot of religious terms,
allusions and other references.NM Rashid's poem "The marriage of Abu
Lahab" is also written in this context. There is a lot of ambiguity and
layering in this poem. Various critics and researchers tried to untie the
knots of this poem. Yes, but its layers have not been fully opened yet. In
this regard, the views of all these researchers have been reviewed in this
article and an attempt has been made to remove the ambiguity of this

علامہ محمد اقبال کا فلسفہ خودی ڈاکٹر جاوید اقبال کی نظر میں
"Afkar e Iqbal (Tashreehate Javed)" is a book containing essays by
Dr. Javed Iqbal. This book contains seventeen articles.This book was
published by Iqbal Academy in 1994. According to Dr. Javed Iqbal, during
the tenure of General Zia ul Haq, PTV recorded fifteen lectures from him,
which were telecast on TV throughout the year. When Dr. Javed Iqbal
became a Senator, instead of sitting idle in the Senate session, he decided
to compile a book containing these lectures. This book became very
popular after its publication. It has also been translated into Persian. In
this work, various aspects of Iqbal,s concept "Khudi" have been
explained. In this research article , these aspects of Iqbal,s cocept of
"Khudi" will be studied with reference to "Afkar e Iqba (Tashreehat e
Javed" by Dr. Javed Iqbal

The political history of Indo-Pak sub-continent is marked with
two mega migrations.Firstly, it was experienced with the emergence of a
separate independent state in 1947.Secondly, when the same seperate
independent state bifircated into two wings i.e. Pakistan amp; Bangla desh.
The both migrations i.e division of india in 1947 and fall of Dhaka in
1971 gave birth to a number of tragedies on human grounds. These
tragedies are very well reflected in their parallel history of Urdu short
stories. Keeping in view these short stories especially written in view of
the Dhaka fall in 1947; present study is indicating those motives which
actually gave birth to this huge tragedy in our national history

Khawaja Hayder Ali Atish (1778D1848) is being considered as the
representative poet of Luchnavi school of poetry.Hewas one of themost
popularand significant poets of the first half of the nineteenth century.His
life and works have been narrated in almost all contemporary tadhkiras;
however, the annotated text given inthisarticleisdifferent from that of all
others in many aspects. It is a part of an unpublished tadhkira by the
renowned poet and tadhkira writer Abdul Ghafoor Nassakh(1834D1889).
The only manuscript of the tadhkira is available in the Bodlien Library,
University of Oxford. It was first discovered by thepresent researcher in
2013 and is being edited and annotated by the same. The manuscript
comprises94folios(188pages)and gives the names of 91poets and accounts
of 87 poets. It was written somewhere between 1872 D1887.The present
article gives theedited andannotated text of thechapter twoof the tadhkira
whichgivesthedetailedaccountsof Atish and his nine apprentices including
Asghar, Afzal, Bismil, Khalil, Rind, Suroor, Sharar, Sharaf and Muntaha

Old discovered manuscript which has literary and historical
importance, when arranged according to will of Author is called editing.
There are some principles to edit a text according to the Author's will and
any editor who follows those rules can edit a text. "A Text is basically a
document written in a language known more or less to the inquirer and
assumed to have a meaning which has been or can be ascertained." Hafiz
Mahmood Sherani is a well-known for his theory of "Urdu in Punjab". He
established the tradition of Urdu Editing. During his stay in Europe, He
edited Henry Stub book "An account of rise and progress Mehometanism
with the life of Mohomet and a vindication of Him and His religion from
the coloumnies of Christians". He also edited "Majmooa Nagaz and
Khaliq Bari." This article titled as "Tadweenyat-e-Hafiz Sherani" sheds
light on some dimensions of Hafiz Sherani's editing and research
