    Get PDF
Nagaland is a state without any major industry, which has resulted in the people's dependence on the government, seeking government jobs. As a result, the need for survival and maintaining the standard of living has forced the household to diversify their livelihood activities by adopting multiple jobs. Numerous factors determine the ability of a household to diversify its livelihood. In this study, data was collected from 170 households. The Simpson Diversity Index is applied to measure diversity, and the censored Tobit model is used to analyze the determinants of livelihood diversification. The study found that both non-farm and farm have a high diversity level and that many households do not diversify their livelihood activities. The result also shows that education has a negative significant impact on the household’s decision to diversify their livelihood activities

This research aims to determine the political behavior of voters and the factors behind them choosing the people of the Batulanteh highlands in the 2020 Sumbawa Regency regional elections. This is interesting to research because each voter has their own reasons and interests in determining political choices so that candidates can determine strategy in campaigning to get results that are in line with the target. This study is qualitative research. The results of the research show that the tendency for political behavior to vote for the people of the Batulanteh highlands tends to be dominated by aspects of the figure and campaign issues as well as the candidate's work program. This is closely related to the real condition of Batulanteh which is still very underdeveloped and far from development aspects. The factors behind the political behavior of Batulanteh Community voters are the voter's social circle as a variable that is outside the voter but has an influence in determining individual political choices. Individual voters' decisions are strongly influenced by group cohesion processes, not purely individual decisions and actions. This creates a "threat" if an individual in a group makes a decision that is different from the group's decision, including the decision not to vote. Then there are patron client relationships, money politics, and an assessment of regional socio-economic conditions. Of the various aspects above, the most determining aspect is money politics. Meanwhile, the patron-client aspect is relative, one-off, and not literate. The existence of money politics is considered the most determinant in influencing a person's voting decisions. This is caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, making money politics easier to accept and increasing nominal vote buying. Money politics succeeded in influencing voting behavior because candidates used personal loyalist strategies to influence voters through their social environment. The use of money politics is an effort to strengthen voters' preferences for certain candidates and strengthen the confidence of regional head candidates to be able to get guaranteed voter compliance

    Get PDF
Currently, the Indonesian government is aggressively increasing Indonesia's food productivity in order to achieve national food security. Agricultural production facilities that have a vital role in increasing productivity and quality are fertilizers. Therefore, the government, in this case, the Ministry of Agriculture, and other legislative bodies has made a policy to facilitate the provision of subsidized fertilizer in the agricultural sector. In the last four years, Pasuruan Regency experienced an increase in fertilizer allocation only in 2021, while for the following two years,Pasuruan Regency experienced a decrease in subsidized fertilizer allocation and types of subsidized fertilizer based on national-level allocation. Many obstacles and problems were encountered during the implementation of the use of the Tani Card for subsidized fertilizer transactions. This research aims to describe and analyze the implementation of the policy on using the Farmer's Card in the distribution and use of subsidized fertilizer and to describe and analyze the supporting factors and factors that hinder the policy on using the Farmer's Card. This research uses a qualitative-descriptive approach and data collection techniques using interviews, observation, and documentation, as well as using Spradley's data analysis techniques, with the research focus being the level of understanding of farmers, the flow of distribution and use of Farmer Cards, control over the use of subsidized fertilizers and the government's commitment to distribution of subsidized fertilizer. Educational Strategy through School-Based Management

    Get PDF
Education is one of the critical concerns of society, and the education sector will be required to make an essential contribution to preparing qualified human resources in the future. On the other hand, the low quality of human resources in Indonesia still gives rise to various polemics and problems of its own, which have an impact on reducing the quality of education and human resources. In this era of regional autonomy, all aspects of community life which were initially regulated centrally or centrally have changed to a decentralized system, including education. Implementing centralized or centralized policies causes educational units or schools to lose their independence, creativity, and initiative in making the necessary policies. This research aims to describe the implementation of school-based management and the factors driving and inhibiting its successful implementation. This research uses a qualitative approach with research procedures that produce descriptive data. The research location is in one of the private high schools in Malang City. Determining research subjects in this study used purposive sampling and snowball sampling techniques. Data was collected using several techniques: observation, interviews, questionnaires, documentation, and field notes. Data analysis techniques in this research were carried out by condensing, presenting, and drawing conclusions or verification. The research results show that school-based management has been running quite well. However, several things still need to be considered in terms of communication, resources, disposition, and bureaucracy

The dearth of judicial independence in Zambia’s new constitutional dispensation

    Get PDF
The Judiciary is considered the vanguard of human rights protection through the enforcement of individual liberties enshrined in the Constitution. Since time immemorial, the legitimacy of decisions by the courts has been anchored, to a very large extent, on the impartiality and independence of the court. Judicial independence entails that the Judge has not, in his decision in a matter, been influenced by either his will or interest in the case’s outcome or by other persons, entities or authorities other than the law. This implies that the decision made by a Judge should be based on predetermined normative standards embedded in the law. Since the attainment of political independence, the Judiciary in Zambia has undergone scrutiny with most scholars concluding that it was bereft of independence. Although the majority of these conclusions were based on the provisions of the Constitution of 1991 (as amended in 1996), the amendments to the Constitution (in 2016) have done little to guarantee judicial independence. It is argued in this article that the provisions on judicial independence under the Constitution (amendment Act 2 of 2016) Act are not only a façade but have also been crafted in a disguised manner to extend executive powers

    Get PDF
Protecting women’s rights is predominantly adjudicated within a particular society and state. Society and state entail the laws and legislations for the protection of rights. In India's last 75 years of independence, the Constitutions, laws, and government decisions tended to ensure the rights and privileges of women. Along with the fundamental rights and different articles of the constitution, nineteen laws have been enacted to protect and preserve women's rights. But still, the conditions of the Indian women are in a marginalized position. Over time some new problems and shortcomings cropped up with new vigor and density. Thus, this study is an attempt to analyze them empathically and elaborately with new thoughts and views

Two thousand and sixty (2060) copies of a structured questionnaire were administered within the sample frame. The data collected was analyzed using descriptive and inferential statistics. It was found that there was a high prevalence of sexual assault in Benue State and that the area has a youthful population and a high proportion of single which if not checked will continue to increase the level of sexual assault in the area. The common causes of sexual assault include indecent dressing, lonely dwellings, alcoholism, and exposure to pornographic materials. The effects of sexual assault include sexually transmitted infections, unplanned pregnancies, emotional trauma, abortion, depression, reduced productivity, stigmatization, death, physical injury, discrimination, mental instability, weak security system, and school dropout. It was suggested among others that, social groups such as religious institutions and schools should embark on reorientation regarding descent dressing to curtail the predisposition to sexual assault. Also, cluster dwellings through the deliberate design of settlements and collective provision of public amenities should be promoted to limit scenarios for lonely dwellings that predispose people to sexual assault
