This study uses multiple linear regression analysis techniques and path analysis with the Sobel test to see the mediating effect of intervening variables. The research shows that the results of the leverage test have no effect on profitability, company size has no effect on profitability and liquidity has a positive and significant effect on profitability. Furthermore, leverage has a positive and significant effect on firm value, firm size has no effect on firm value, liquidity has a negative and significant impact on firm value and return on assets has a positive and significant effect on firm value. Impulse Response analysis, Agricultural Financing and Economic Growth in Nigeria
The study examined the impulse response analysis of the effects of agricultural financing on economic growth in Nigeria from 1981 to 2020, using time series data on Economic growth rate, Deposit Money Banks loans to agriculture, Government capital and recurrent expenditure, Bank of Agriculture loans, and interest rate on agriculture loan obtained from the Central Bank of Nigeria statistical Bulletin and Annual Reports, National Bureau of Statistics, and Bank of Agriculture. The methodology adopted in the study is the ARDL Bounds Cointegration Approach based on the fact that the variables were not all stationary at same order of integration. The findings revealed that given the major challenges facing the agricultural sector in Nigeria such as inadequate funding, economic growth was positively affected by Deposit Money Banks Loans and advances to Agriculture, Bank of Agriculture Loans, and Federal Government Agricultural Finance but negatively affected by Interest Rate on Agricultural Loans during the period under investigation. The study recommended that since the Federal Government Agricultural Expenditure positively affects agriculture, the federal government should initiate policies towards revolutionizing agriculture to make it more productive by investing more on agriculture and concluded that considering the fact that agricultural funding variables were found to impact positively on economic growth in Nigeria during the period under investigation, adequate agricultural funding is essential for economic growth in the Nigerian economy
Competence-Based Assessment in Pre-primary School Classrooms: The Case of Pre-primary Schools in Dar es Salaam Region, Tanzania
This article is based on the study which sought to examine assessment practices in pre-primary classroom settings. Specifically, the study sought to examine pre-primary school teachers’ knowledge of competence-based assessment strategies and abilities to employ competence-based assessment strategies in improving classroom teaching and learning. A descriptive case study design was employed in which 15 quality assurance officers, 15 head of schools and 15 pre-primary school teachers from Kinondoni, Ilala and Temeke Municipalities of Dar es Salaam Region were involved. The data were collected through interviews, observations and documentary reviews and the analysis was done using thematic analysis approach. The findings indicated that teachers lacked a clear understanding of competence-based assessment strategies such as natural observations, checklists, oral interviews, peer interviews, cumulative forms, rating scales, projects and portfolios. The findings also revealed that most of the pre-primary school teachers were not able to employ competence-based assessment strategies in improving classroom teaching and learning as they were mostly using traditional ways of assessing children development such as written exercises, tests, and examinations. Based on these findings, it is recommended that Tanzania Institute of Education (TIE) should conduct regular training on competence-based assessment to enable teachers understand what it entails and how it can be effectively implemented. It is also recommended that Tanzania Institute of Education (TIE) should specify pre-primary school assessment strategies and tools which are reflective of the Tanzanian context so that the pre-primary school teachers do not encounter challenges in employing them. Lastly, it is recommended that teacher training institutions, including universities, should adopt competence-based teaching and learning styles during the preparations of teachers who will then work in pre-schools and colleges
Tribal Tradition and Globalization: Critical Study of Mahasweta Devi’s Chotti Munda And His Arrow
Tribals are the different groups of people who reside in forests, hills and far-flung areas in some isolated territories at different locations throughout the world. They have their own distinct and unique culture and dialects at different locations. Usually, they are socially and politically self-sufficient. They always keep their distance from mainstream civilized and cultured society and that is why they are uncivilized and uncultured groups from the perspective of modern development in spite of having their own cultural identity.
