Digitalization and Poverty Reduction in the Era of Regional Integration: A Review of the China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC)
In the era of digital transformation and deepening global interconnectivity, the nexus between digital governance, regional infrastructural integration, and poverty reduction presents growing policy relevance. This review synthesizes theoretical and empirical literatures around digitalization, poverty alleviation, and the CPEC initiatives linking China and Pakistan. It argues that CPEC’s infrastructural and governance investments provide an illustrative case of “regionalization where corridor driven infrastructure, institutional reform, and digital platforms converge to reshape developmental trajectories. The review identifies three key literatures: (i) digitalization and inclusive development (ii) regional corridor and value-chain integration, and (iii) poverty reduction mechanisms in developing contexts. Through a thematic analysis, the paper highlights how digitalization operates as a multiplier of infrastructural investments and governance reform in the CPEC context, yet also reveals enduring governance, geography and equity related bottlenecks. It concludes by offering a research agenda for future inquiry and policy implications for governments engaged in digital infrastructure led regional integration
The Classical and Keynesian Approaches to Interest Rate Determination: A Theoretical Overview
Interest rates play a pivotal role in shaping the economic environment. They determine the cost of borrowing and the return on savings and have significant effects on investment, consumption, and overall economic growth. The Classical and Keynesian schools of thought provide distinct approaches to understanding how interest rates are determined. The Classical theory emphasizes the interplay between savings and investment, while the Keynesian theory focuses on the influence of demand for money and supply of money. As a result, the purpose of this research is to compare both theories and analyze them from a theoretical perspective
Application of Rational Planning Theory in Performance Contracting: Bridging Theory and Practice in Selected Kenyan Public Universities
This study examines the application of Rational Planning Theory (RPT) in the implementation of Performance Contracting (PC) within Kenyan public universities. Using a comparative case study approach, it analyzes performance trends between established institutions University of Nairobi, Kenyatta University, and University of Embu and the emerging Turkana University College. Drawing from secondary data (2020–2024), the research integrates quantitative analysis and qualitative thematic evaluation to assess institutional alignment with RPT principles such as evidence-based planning and systematic goal-setting. Findings reveal that while mature universities demonstrate strong alignment with RPT, emerging institutions struggle due to limited resources, weak administrative systems, and contextual volatility. The study argues that RPT's assumption of stable planning environments is misaligned with the realities of newer institutions, thus highlighting the need for context-sensitive, differentiated PC models. It concludes with recommendations for adaptive planning frameworks and tailored performance indicators to enhance PC effectiveness across Kenya's diverse higher education sector
An Analysis of the Level of Examination Anxiety in Senior Secondary Students
The study focuses on assessing the Level of Examination Anxiety (LEA) among senior secondary students in the West Karbianglong district of Assam, India. It highlights that examination anxiety, characterized by worry and distress experienced before, during, and after exams, can adversely impact students’ performance and well-being. The study employed a descriptive survey method to measure and analyze the anxiety levels, with particular attention to gender differences. The findings indicate that girls tend to experience higher levels of examination anxiety compared to boys, and this heightened anxiety may serve as a barrier to academic success. The study emphasizes the importance of understanding these patterns to develop effective interventions, such as counselling, relaxation techniques, and supportive educational environments, aiming to mitigate anxiety and promote better mental health and academic achievement among students

Protection of the Environment Due to Reclamation on Bungin Island, West Nusa Tenggara
Self-help coastal reclamation by the Bajo people on Bungin Island, Sumbawa, is carried out due to limited land and high population density. Without a legal basis and adequate environmental studies, this activity damages marine ecosystems such as seagrass beds and coral reefs. This study examines (1) the form of legal protection for the environment in reclamation based on the principles of sustainable development and (2) the impacts of reclamation and efforts to enforce environmental law. The method used is empirical juridical with a sociological approach through observation and interviews. The results indicate that legal protection is ineffective due to weak oversight, low public legal awareness, and the lack of integration of reclamation with environmental regulations. Although national laws are in place, local implementation remains weak. This study recommends synergy between the government and the community, increased environmental legal literacy, and the development of local regulations based on sustainable development
Living Traditions: Fairs and Festivals as Vessels of India’s Cultural Continuity
India's cultural heritage, both tangible and intangible, stands as a testament to its historical depth and civilizational continuity. Fairs and festivals, deeply embedded in the socio-cultural fabric of the nation, play a pivotal role in preserving and promoting this heritage. These celebrations transcend caste, creed, and regional boundaries, fostering communal harmony, social cohesion, and a shared sense of identity. Historically, they have also served as platforms for socio-political mobilization, as evidenced by Lokmanya Tilak’s strategic use of public festivals like Ganesh Chaturthi and the Shivaji Utsav during the Indian independence movement. Today, festivals such as Diwali, Holi, Baisakhi, Pongal, Kumbh Mela, and regional fairs like the Camel Fair and Jagannath Yatra continue to function not only as cultural expressions but also as significant drivers of local economies and tourism. This study critically examines the role of fairs and festivals in promoting national identity, stimulating economic activity, and safeguarding India’s intangible cultural heritage. Through a multidisciplinary lens, it further explores sustainable strategies for cultural preservation to ensure the resilience and continuity of India’s diverse traditions in the face of globalization and modernization
Women’s Empowerment: A Comparison of Major Indian States
Gender inequality persists globally, but in India it presents unique complexities due deeply rooted entrenched patriarchal structure intersects with rapid economic development. This study compares women’s empowerment across major Indian states using NFHS-5 (2019-21) data. It focuses on employment, decision making, and financial autonomy to highlight gender disparities. The Study highlights the uneven realization of women’s economic and social agency. States like Tamil Nadu and Gujarat exhibit higher level female workforce participation, largely in non-agricultural sectors, correlating with greater cash earnings and increased decision-making power. In contrast, Bihar and Uttar Pradesh lag, with women primarily in low paid informal agricultural works and facing limited financial and social autonomy. Although financial inclusion initiative have increased women access to banking services and microcredit schemes, it does not inherently guarantee empowerment, as patriarchal norms and educational barriers often hinder true agency. Women’s decision making autonomy remains uneven across states, Punjab and Haryana show higher rates of women’s participation in critical household decisions, states such as Madhya Pradesh reflect significant exclusion. These findings advocate the need for state specific strategies to bridge gender, thereby advancing toward SDG 5’s commitment to gender equality
Methamphetamine Use and its Associated Psycho Socio/Economic Impact: The Need for Drug Education
Methamphetamine (MA) is a powerful and addictive stimulant that affects the central nervous system. MA use/abuse among adolescents and adults has become a significant social and public health concern globally. However, despite the increased knowledge and awareness of methamphetamine use among the population, research is still sparse on the psycho social impact of MA use. This paper examines the methamphetamine use/abuse and its associated psycho social/economic impact among adolescents and adults in Nigeria. The paper focused on methamphetamine use among adolescents/adults, the psycho social/economic impact and the role of health education intervention. Based on the review, the paper recommended among others that Government through its policies should ensure that jobs are created, social services are rendered, and above all, its policies should be feasible and capable of implementation. Moreover, individuals, families, communities, and the entire society should ensure that moral values are inculcated in the youths. This will help governments in the fight against the menace. Further, the Non Governmental Organizations (NGOs) and Community Based Organizations (CBOs) should encourage the sensitization campaigns against drug abuse/abuse among adolescents and adult as well as engage them in the rehabilitation programs
