The study is aimed to explore the potential of cottage industry in Azad Jammu&Kashmir. The cottage industry holds a significant value in Azad Jammu &Kashmir where many families are engaged with it for their income generation. The indicators show that women entrepreneurship plays a significant role toboost the economic, social and cultural standard of the society. However, several problems affect the women through diverse ways due to structuralinequalities. The gender relationship in household hinders women from gettingtheir share of the economic benefits but still women continue to contribute andbear the dual workload in maintaining their status in the society. The CrossLoC Trade has opened the new advantageous opportunities for the AJ&Ktrading community, however; by increasing the size of the local manufacturersin Cross LoC Trade will directly benefit the home-based local industry whichultimately will improve the socio-economic status of the society
Political and Legal Frame Work and Supply of Clean Drinking Water with Special Reference to Lahore, Istanbul and Karnataka
The supply of clean drinking water is vital for human health and existence. The world community is facing a challenge of guaranteed availability of quality water to the masses. Waterborne diseases are taking heavy toll of human life especially the children. The issue of supply of clean drinking water is totally ignored by the successive political governments by disregarding their constitutional obligations. The quality of available drinking water is verydeplorable in Pakistan and it ranks at 80th out of 122 nations. Moreover, on the other hand the government is also spending Rs. 120 billion, every year on water borne diseases medication (Qudrat Ullah: 2010). The present political government has accepted the reality that the human life and health is directlylinked with provision of clean drinking water and it has also evolved a mega project of supply of clean drinking water in the country. However, thegovernment has not succeeded, so far to fulfil its legal obligations as per UNConventions, National and local laws, which are presently infield to ensure theadequate supply of clean drinking water to the citizens (Nation: October 06, 2014). The resolve of government to involve the local MPAs and MNAs inpolicy making process will support the government machinery in equal andjudicious supply of clean drinking water to the citizens (Yasir Habib: 2011)

Security Agents Public Perception in Nigeria: A Study on the Police and the Vigilante (Neighborhood Watch)
States are saddled with the responsibility of protecting the citizenry frominternal insurrection and external aggression. Formal policing sector isperceived as the most appropriate security forces to mitigate civil crises withinthe community. In the recent times the use of the police is been joggled withthe vigilante in most developing democracies. The vigilantes are seen as moreeffective in curbing immediate crime and deterring future crimes than theconventional police. The objective of this paper is to determine the extent ofpublic trust for the security (police and vigilante) agents in Nigeria. Thetheoretical framework of Chaos theory and Tyre burning model are adopted toanalyze crime while the data from Afrobarometer database and researchers'fieldwork are analyzed to see the perception of Nigerians on security andsafety of their community. Policy recommendations of co-security optionswith basic legislation to reduce the unprofessional-ism of the security sectorsare proffer
Linked Data Technologies in Libraries: An Appraisal
This study aims to explore the information professionals’ insight about thepotential benefits of Linked Data application in libraries. It also discussed thebasic concepts of LD to create the awareness among informationprofessionals.Linked Data is an emerging set of standards and technologies that couldpotentially enable information environments such as libraries to publish andinterlink their hidden data on the web for better global accessibility. However,it is also one of the least understood phenomena, especially with respect to itsadoption and application by libraries. This work is part of a larger study that was designed to investigate perceptionand application of Linked Data technologies in Pakistani libraries. This is aquantitative study based on a questionnaire survey. To meet the objective ofthe study, a survey of academic library information professionals wasdesigned and circulated online to collect data from geographically scatteredpopulation. This paper found that information professionals perceived that LD has the potential to interlink and publish library data on the Web and it will also assist patrons to discover relevant information through links to other repositories. They were of the view that LD will be useful for library patrons to find content on web and it will supplement the library’s records from online sources. Respondents also opined that LD would improve users’ overall searchexperiences with existing library catalogs. It is the base line study on Linked Data application in libraries in Pakistani context as no literature available on it. This study provides practical suggestion for decision makers and opens the future research avenues for researchers
Security and Economic Prospects of Fencing Along Pak-Afghan Border
Every border strategy is fixed in between two fears: security failures and economic crises. Durand Line and its unprincipled monitoring remained most disruptive bilateral issue between Pakistan and Afghanistan. Despite full scale kinetic operations in tribal areas of Pakistan Army, series of deadliest terror attacks across Pakistan shattered resilience of nation and forced her armed forces to install security fence as a “Need” rather than “Option”. Continuous sense of insecurity among populace and economic instability forced nuclear armed Pakistan to permanently protect her 2430 kilometers western border from illegal / sponsored movement of hardcore terrorists, smugglers and drug cartels. At present, installation of security fence and maintenance of effective bordermanagement system along Durand Line are contributing significantly in improving internal security situation and economic disparities which will systematically enhance friendly diplomatic relations, security collaboration and economic cooperation with Afghanistan in near future whereas in parallel also playing considerable role to encounter anti-Pakistan propaganda / security andeconomic proxies of hostile intelligence agencies
Integrated Response to COVID-19: A Case of Good Governance in Pakistan
COVID-19 has shaken the whole world economically, politically, socially and administratively. It has forced the governments globally to reimagine the governance innovatively to deal with the new types of challenges posed by this pandemic. Pakistan was also in crisis initially due to weak governance framework, low cooperation and coordination between different actors and punyinstitutional capacity. These factors aggravated the situation in terms of disease outbreak and its adverse effects on the livelihood of the people of the country. Far along, Pakistan dealt this pandemic creatively through newly established body in the form of National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC). NCOC has designed national integrated response for fighting this menace of COVID-19 effectively. It has proved itself a success story over the period of time and acase of effective governance in Pakistan. The effective national integrated response of NCOC towards pandemic has been acknowledged internationally as well. Therefore, it has been studied in this research as a case study through qualitative methodology for exploring its effectiveness and contributions towards overall governance framework and policy arena of Pakistan. The findingsof this research show that pragmatic and creative initiatives of NCOC through whole-of-thegovernment approach at different fronts have made it a successful model in Pakistan and its experiences and lessons can contribute positively in the governance framework and national resilience of the country in the post pandemic world
Mathematical Treatment of Nonlinear Pine Wilt Disease Model: An Evolutionary Approach
In human life, the forest plays an important role in safeguarding trees against disease infection. The pine wilt disease is one of the big threats for the forest and the environment. Optimum control theory is about discovering a complex system control rule over a period of time. In this paper Evolutionary Pad¶e Approximation (EPA) scheme has been implemented for the treatment of non-linear pine wilt disease model.Evolutionary Pad¶e Approximation scheme transforms the nonlinear pinewilt disease model into optimization problem. Initial conditions are converted into problem constraints and then constraint problem is convertedinto unconstraint problem by using penalty function. Sufficient parametersettings for EPA have been implemented. The simulations are numericalsolutions of the model of pine wilt disease by solving the proven problemof optimization. It is also determined the threshold value for the fundamental reproductive number and the endemic disease balance point ofthe model. Evolutionary Pad¶e Approximation has provided convergencesolution regarding relationship among the different population compartments for diseases equilibrium, it has been observed that the results EPA scheme are more reliable and significant when a comparison is drawn with Non-Standard Finite Difference (NSFD) numerical scheme. Finally, EPA scheme reduces the infected rates very fast. Further, in a strong contrastto NFSD, this technique has eliminated the need to provide step siz
Critical Discourse Analysis of Clinton's Orations at Presidential Elections in 2016
This study aims at critical analysis of the orations of the candidate of democrat party, Clinton, at presidential elections of America. It has been done based on her independent orations and also her last face to face debate with Trump, the candidate of Republic party. In this sense, data analysis has been carried out not only based on the used key words by herself in the orations but also the selection of the theme of speech at odds with the other by using comparative approach in which we have focused on the analysis of the selective words used in the last debate. Also, the findings indicate the most use of four themes of security, nationalism, women and justice among which justice and equality themes have been considered as the nodal point and the theme of women's rights as the empty signifier
Equal Education for Everyone An Evaluation Report of National Plan of ActionICT
In order to attain the Millennium Development Goal (MDG) of education by 2015/16, the Government of Pakistan had designed a National Plan of Action (NPA). The rationale behind the NPA was to increase and fasten the progress towards achieving education MDG till 2016. The NPA specifically aimed at achieving maximum enrolment of children in primary classes, in-school retention of the enrolled children, so that they may complete their primary education, and improved quality of primary education. The present study aims at evaluating the NPA of Islamabad on the basis of five evaluation standards set by the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) and Development Assistance Committee (DAC) including relevance, efficiency, effectiveness, impact, and sustainability. The results show that the plan has been comprehensive enough to comply with all the basic international standards of evaluation. The plan had been implemented in compliance with the socio-cultural setting of Islamabad, and had the capability to meet the issues defined. An important recommendation based on the report is the inclusion of special needs and incentives for the minorities of Pakistan, and keeping a proper check on the curriculum designing of deeni madaris, as they serve as a very basic building block for the character of children
