    No full text
The way COVID-19 impacted every aspect of human life around the world, is now considered more disastrous than the World War II. Both the policy and academic researchers have been contributing to assess its severity and impact on businesses and economies while examining the foci of business researchers in this era of contagion. In this assessment, we have applied the approaches of bibliometric and content analysis on 403 qualified studies, drawn from the Scopus database. The period of data ranges from 2003 to June 2020. We identified 11 different research streams including tourism, supply chain besides economic and finance-related research. We highlighted the sub-streams and main concerns raised in the published literature. The findings of this research indicate that COVID will force the policy makers to come up with strategy and changes in various business fields. The implications of the study may be important for business managers to chalk out a proactive approach for business handling during and post-COVID eras.&nbsp

Teaching is an art of transferring knowledge, information and skills from one person to another. It is mandatory for teachers to use variety of instructional strategies to meet the needs of students and high-quality Education. However, most of the institutes in Pakistan uses a limited range of methods for instructions. There is an urgent need to evaluate the current practices of Instruction adopted by most of the teachers in general institutes. The core purpose of this study was to scrutinize the perception of university teachers concerning the usage and effectiveness of teaching practices in terms of particular strategies, methods and casual activities. A case study methodology was adopted to attain the objectives of the study. Hence, Bahauddin Zakariya University Multan was carefully chosen as a case.  Approximately, 619 teachers were teaching at Bahauddin Zakariya university and selected as population. The researcher combined eight of the faculties and divided into four sections. Total 45 departments were nominated using Simple random sampling. Furthermore, 395 teachers were chosen through lottery method of simple random sampling. Data was collected through Questionnaire and the questionnaire reliability was also computed through Cronbach's Alpha Model (e.g.,0.96) the value explicitly indicated the scale’s consistency and reliability. Data was composed in tables to be analyzed, comparisons were made and interpreted according to the to the study objectives. For the interpretation of Questionnaire data descriptive statistics i.e., Mean and SD were applied, and thematic analysis was used for open-ended research question responses. According to the study findings, lecture method, project method, demonstration method, problem-solving method, discussion, brainstorming and quiz were described as occasionally used teaching practices at universities. While other selected methods/strategies/activities were rarely used. Likewise, the final conclusion of the research also specified teachers’ opinion regarding the selected teaching practices (methods/strategies/activities) that they were effective mainly due to their own observations at university. The study also recommended that teaching practices must be evaluated occasionally for the improvement of teachers’ teaching practices, which is vital for quality education and teaching-learning process

Saussure's 'Course in General Linguistics', is a book dealing with a particular topic in the broader subject of 'Language'. It was compiled and put into book form, after his death, with the help of notes collected by his students from his lectures given in the University of Geneva. It is a common mistake that his lectures (this book) contains a great deal of material upon which the huge theories of Structuralism and Post-Structuralism were formulated. A thorough study of the books rectifies the error. More-over this study also clarifies the aspect that there are some short comings in the Saussurean Linguistic Model too, to rectify them, is the work of Linguists

Facile Synthesis of New CuS/Activated Kaolinite Composite for Photo-Fenton Degradation of Textile Dyes

    No full text
In this study, we successfully synthesized a CuS/Activated Kaolinite composite using a cost-effective co-precipitation method. In FTIR analysis, the appearance of vibration bands at 1107 cm-1, 1017 cm-1, and 803 cm-1 confirmed the presence of SO42-, Si-O, and Al (IV) functional groups in the composite. UV-visible spectroscopy demonstrated that the synthesized composite exhibited high degradation efficiency, achieving 98.1 % degradation of cationic dye (crystal violet) and 90.2 % degradation of anionic dye (methyl orange) within one hour through a Photo-Fenton reaction. The kinetic study revealed that the rate of degradation followed pseudo-first order (R2 > 0,95) and the prepared catalyst could degrade 0.030 ppm and 0.01 ppm of crystal violet and methyl orange in one minute, respectively. Given its outstanding activity, the catalyst can be used for treating textile wastewater on the commercial level, especially when dealing with various types of dyes

This research paper is a narratological analysis of the strategic construction of the worldview involving America in Zeb-un-Nissa Hamidullah’s travelogue, Sixty Days in America (1956).It studies the political discourse in the historical contextualisation of political implications of her travelogue which allowed Hamidullah to create a world view. It subjects Hamidullah’s travelogue to a narratological political discourse analysis which I a new method of analysis. Ittriangulates its methods of political discourse analysis with the strategies developed in contextualist-rhetorical studies. The narratological analysis, thus, focuses on the political orientation of her personal narrative and her construction of narrative situations which employ political discourse strategies to embed her ideology. The study finds narratological evidence to prove that Hamidullah presented America as a hegemonic world leader that has replaced UK. The paper identifies several narrative techniques which can be used to analyse narratives of the hegemonised third world people living under imperialist pressures

Television political comedy shows have gained popularity in Pakistan. This studyexamines and pinpoints the factors that influence the people to watch such shows. For the purpose, survey method has been employed. The data has been collected from respondents (N=300) belonging to various demographic backgrounds. It has been inferred from the study that an affinity for political humor (AFPH) drives people to watch political comedy shows. In this regard, age has come across as the only significant factor, which has a meaningful positive relationship with AFPH. Moreover, the study also discovers that monthly income is a significant positive predictor of political comedy show viewership. Besides, various types of media and genres of TV program have also been found as strong predictors of the political comedy shows. The study concludes that political comedy shows should not be taken as a mere entertainment product, rather they can prove to be an important source for political communication and creation of political awareness. In a country like Pakistan where literacy rates are on the lower side, informal and humorous political communication may raise political awareness amongst people. Lastly, it has been recommended that future researchers may study the direct behavioral and political effects of political comedy shows aired on Pakistani television channels
