No full textМонографија Ризница Саборне цркве Вазнесења Господњег у Чачку представља прву целовиту научну обраду покретне културне баштине и књижног фонда једне од најзначајнијих катедралних цркава Епархије жичке, Српске Православне Цркве. Полазећи од историјског развоја храма, од средњовековне Богородице Градачке, преко периода османске власти, до обнове у 19. веку након стицања државне и црквене аутономије, аутори ризницу сагледавају као сложену културно-историјску целину и поуздан извор за проучавање визуелне, литургијске и црквене културе. Посебна пажња посвећена је улози владарске породице Обреновић, епископата, градских елита и еснафа у процесу опремања и обликовања ризнице, као и значају приложничке праксе као механизма меморијализације и друштвене репрезентације.
Књига је структурисана кроз уводну синтетичку студију и каталог одабраних предмета, обрађених у складу са савременим стандардима музеолошке и историјско-уметничке анализе. Каталог обухвата рукописне и штампане црквене књиге, богослужбене сасуде, литургијско сребро, текстил и архијерејске одежде, као и појединачне уметнички и историјски изузетне предмете од 16. до 20. века. Комбиновањем формално-стилске, иконографске и контекстуалне анализе, публикација доприноси разумевању ризнице као динамичног одраза историјских, политичких и културних процеса, истовремено је позиционирајући у шири оквир националне и европске сакралне уметности.The monograph The Treasury of the Cathedral Church of the Ascension of the Lord in Čačak represents the first comprehensive scholarly study of the movable cultural heritage and the book collection of one of the most important cathedral churches of the Diocese of Žiča within the Serbian Orthodox Church. Proceeding from the historical development of the church—from the medieval Church of the Mother of God of Gradac, through the period of Ottoman rule, to its renewal in the nineteenth century following the attainment of state and ecclesiastical autonomy—the authors approach the treasury as a complex cultural-historical entity and a reliable source for the study of visual, liturgical, and ecclesiastical culture. Particular attention is devoted to the role of the Obrenović ruling dynasty, the episcopate, urban elites, and guilds in the process of furnishing and shaping the treasury, as well as to the significance of votive donation practices as mechanisms of memorialization and social representation.
The book is structured around an introductory synthetic study and a catalogue of selected objects, analyzed in accordance with contemporary standards of museological and art-historical research. The catalogue encompasses manuscript and printed ecclesiastical books, liturgical vessels, liturgical silver, textiles, and episcopal vestments, as well as individual objects of exceptional artistic and historical value dating from the sixteenth to the twentieth century. By combining formal-stylistic, iconographic, and contextual analysis, the publication contributes to an understanding of the treasury as a dynamic reflection of historical, political, and cultural processes, while simultaneously situating it within the broader framework of national and European sacred art
How to Individuate Potentialities
No full textAccording to Barbara Vetter, stimulus conditions should not play a role when it comes to individuating dispositions. Her view is that we should individuate dispositions solely by their manifestations, while also rejecting the conditional approaches to analysis of disposition
ascriptions. Vetter denies that there is an important link between dispositions and counterfactual conditionals. Instead, she claims that the expression “x can M” (x being a particular object and M being the relevant manifestation) describes the nature of dispositions in a more perspicuous way. Thus, she refers to her approach to understanding dispositional properties as the “possibility conception of dispositional properties”. Vetter, however, understands the notion of possibility, and metaphysical modality in general in a different way in comparison to most contemporary metaphysicians. Namely, the key notion in Vetter’s theory is that of potentiality, historically most notably described by Aristotle. Vetter’s broader project is to provide an understanding of metaphysical modality in terms of potentialities. Her view on how dispositions relate to potentialities is straightforward: Every disposition is a kind of potentiality, and non-dispositional potentialities exist.
Recently, Nathan Wildman has provided a couple of challenges for Vetter’s theory. In this paper, I will devote my attention to his challenge based on the problem of the individuation of potentialities. Wildman suggests that there seems to be an issue with the idea that potentialities should be individuated solely by their manifestations. Namely, some potentialities appear to have identical manifestations, while belonging to objects of a different kind. The idea that potentialities that apply to different kinds of objects are identical seems counterintuitive. The proponent of conditional analysis could, perhaps, avoid the problem by showing the necessary connection between stimulus conditions and the nature of objects. Therefore, the proponent of Vetter’s analysis of disposition ascriptions should try to meet this challenge.
The main goal of mypaper is to explore the strategies for addresing the problem of individuation of potentialities. I argue that, despite Wildman’s challenge, it would be plausible to stick to the original individuation conditions of Vetter’s theory. Andragogy – Dynamic Past, Challenging Present and Uncertain Future
Get PDFThis paper explores the development and current state of andragogy as a scientif ic discipline in Serbia, with a particular focus on its professionalisation at the University of Belgrade. Despite periods of crisis and societal transitions, andragogy has demonstrated remarkable resilience, remaining relevant and influential in the edu-cational landscape. The current study program at the Department of Andragogy at the University of Belgrade is depicted at the undergraduate, master’s, and doctoral levels. By analysing master’s and doctoral theses, and published scientif ic papers, the paper provides insights into the prevalent issues and topics in the f ield. The f indings underscore the impact and relevance of andragogy in Serbia and suggest its future prospects. Upholding its core principles and holistic approach, andragogy can play a pivotal role in bridging the gap between the past and the present, leading to the revitalisation of adult education and shaping the trajectory of the discipline itself in Serbia and beyond
„Do you even listen to me?“: Phases in the development of couples’ contact episode in the initial stage of couple therapy
Get PDFFrom the perspective of the dialogic approach, the initial stage of partner therapy is
characterized by monitoring the dialogic exchange of partners, to identify the characteristics of
relational dynamics that facilitate or hinder constructive exchange. These relational microprocesses,
however, are largely unexplored. The goal of this exploratory study (as a part of
larger research) is to map in-session couple dynamics in the initial stage of therapy. The
question that guided us was: what formally defined phases characterize the development of
partner interaction? The participants were six heterosexual couples (29–45 years old, ≥2 years
together, 5 without children). The data was collected through videotaping the second therapy
session. The material for the analysis were contact episodes: couple interaction regarding the
self-selected topic, during which the therapist entered the observer role. Thematic analysis was
applied by the authors, with the interpretation based on Martin Buber’s dialogical approach
and theory of Gestalt therapy. Five themes, i.e., phases of the contact episode were identified,
with some variations of these phases being more and some less supportive of constructive
exchange. The first phase is The emergence of the need, in which the couple defines the
individual or relational needs and the obstacles to their realization. Variations concern
participation in problem definition (one-sided or mutual), way of defining (as relational or as
personal), and communication style (e.g., criticizing). The second phase is the Habitual attempt
to satisfy the needs and concerns couple’s usual problem-solving style, which can be less
constructive (e.g., blaming, fruitless confrontation), or more constructive (communicating
personal shortcomings and boundaries). The third stage is Impasse, in which repeated
unsuccessful attempts at resolution lead to a feeling of being stuck. This could appear in the
form of polarization of positions, or the form of resignation and withdrawal. The fourth stage
is Novelty and regression, in which a constructive change appears briefly before it is quickly
lost by returning to previous communication patterns. The fifth stage is a Constructive
dialogical relationship, in which the novelty introduced by one partner brings either calmness
and reflection, or empathy and validation of the other partner. The paper extends the efforts of
the integrative family therapists regarding the process diagnostic in the initial stage of couple
therapy, by offering tools that could be useful in the shorter time frame – within one therapy

Порекло контекста и значења мотива делфина посведоченог на луцерни у Смедеревском музеју (IV век)
No full textThe dolphin motif on the ship-shaped oil lamp treasured in the Museum of Smederevo (4th century AD) has complex iconography, multi-layered and complex symbolism, and a long history. This article presents and explains how its iconography and meaning were gradually formed and developed in ancient Greek and Roman art, as well as the peculiarities of its gradual transformation into a Christian symbol. It is found that the context of the appearance of the dolphin motif in art during different epochs is not a mere coincidence, but the expression
of a clear intention on the part of particularly learned artists and commissioners of works of art. Since there are no written records of this motif that would explain its iconography and meaning, and since the motif itself is by nature very hermetic,
and at the same time very rare, the characteristic context of the appearance of the dolphin motif in art is also a decisive parameter for analyzing its meaning and its gradual formation.У овој студији реч је о постепеном уобличавању тј. „историјату” формирања
значења и иконографије мотива делфина посведоченог на луцерни у облику
брода, која се чува у Смедеревском музеју (IV век; сл. 1а–b, 2). Ова лампа по
својим бројним одликама представља јединствен налаз – како по раскоши,
репрезентативности и врсти њеног украса тако и финоћи обраде, димензијама
и другим карактеристикама. У контексту овог истраживања, од посебне је важности чињеница да мотив делфина на њој има вишеслојну и веома комплексну
симболику, као и дугу историју. Такође, реч је о (изгледа) јединој очуваној лампи
ранохришћанске и византијске провенијениције на којој је делфин приказан као
украс брода у тзв. сложеној иконографској формули како лови и прождире плен.
У овом раду представљен је пут постепеног уобличавања и формирања његове
иконографије и значења, као и специфичности преиначавања његовог значења у
симбол хришћанског култа. Што је важно истаћи и указати, овај трансфер симболике мотива делфина из једног у други култ изведен је тако педантно, брижљиво
и учено да је приликом преласка из једног у други култ – из римског паганског у
хришћански – његово значење остало нетакнуто, али је његов контекст потпуно
саображен новом, хришћанском култу. С обзиром на сву суптилност и прецизност
која се огледа у поштовању традиције, указивање на овакав манир трансфера представља главни циљ овог рада. Имајући све речено у виду, установљено је да
модуси присуства мотива делфина у уметности током различитих епоха, тј. његов
контекст, не представљају пуку случајност, већ одраз јасне намере уметникâ и
поручилаца делâ. Најзад, с обзиром на чињеницу да о овом мотиву како у древној античкој, тако ни у хришћанској уметности не постоје писана сведочанства,
тј. литерарни извори који би објаснили иконографију и значење овог мотива,
карактеристични модуси појаве мотива делфина уједно представљају и кључни
параметар у анализи његове симболике и њеног уобличавања и формирања.
У овом раду анализирани су мотиви делфина уз одабране представе бога Диониса
(сл. 3, 4 а–c). Узете су у обзир представе на којима се мотив делфина јавља као
„украс” бродова, као и на лампи из Смедеревског музеја. Поменути одабрани
примери датог мотива наглашеном контекстуализацијом недвосмислено указују
на значење мотива делфина присутног на луцерни из Смедеревског музеја, као и
на даље аналогије овом мотиву (сл. 5, 6) које поткрепљују везу између наведених
мотива делфина и мотива делфина са луцерне из Смедеревског музеја, а уједно
и везе између мотива делфина и тема везаних за бога Диониса, које заслужују и
даља истраживања

How resistance to social change undermines personal change? Perspective of the Model of the Agonistic Self (MAS)
No full textThe aim of this paper is to demonstrate the usefulness of the MAS in analyzing relatedness
between social and personal change. MAS is developed by integrating key ideas from Dialogical
Self Theory with contributions of Foucault’s analytics of power, and conceptualizes the self as
a polyphony of voices struggling to obtain power. The model entails: a) functions of voices, b)
forms and practices of exercising power, c) relationships between voices, and d) formative and
legitimizing effect of the context. Context-embedded self appears in the form of a constellation
of voices whose time-limited dynamic follows the specific and repetitive scenario which has a
particular psychosocial purpose. The focus of this paper is “King and his Kingdom” constellation
– “default” functioning when a person’s prevailing values, personified by the King’s coalition,
direct the behavior. The disturbance in the order of power between social discourses can lead to
legitimization of the interior voice which represents values different from the King’s. This voice
can shortly “take over the scene”, which marks a temporary personal change, with the possibility of
becoming a new King. However, reasserting the previous order of power between social discourses
results in strong delegitimization of change within the self, and in restoring the prevailment of “the
old” King, even when the person identifies more with the values proposed by the prospective “new”
King. This points to the strong dependence of permanent personal change upon the change within
the social context, which will be illustrated by the case study from the psychotherapeutic practice
How is Self-Fashioning Possible? Nietzsche on Agency and Freedom
No full textIn this paper I shall explore how self-fashioning, as conceived by Friedrich Nietzsche, is possible. My goal is to show that self-fashioning is not jeopardized by Nietzsche’s determinism and his rejection of traditional ideas of selfhood, agency, and freedom. First, I shall clarify why the abandonment of this traditional conception of human beings is seen by some as deleterious to the project of self-fashioning. Afterwards, I shall argue that Nietzsche is a determinist: he maintains that one could not have acted otherwise. If thought of in this way, freedom is impossible. However, Nietzsche also has a more positive conception of freedom. Following John Richardson’s reading of Nietzsche, I shall examine the three main stages through which freedom evolves. I shall expand Richardson‘s account with a corresponding analysis of Nietzsche’s notion of responsibility. Finally, we shall see how a discussion of such issues allows us to understand how self-fashioning is possible
