MANAGING THE TEACHING COMPETENCE OF PART-TIME INSTRUCTORS AT ILOCOS SUR POLYTECHNIC STATE COLLEGE, PHILIPPINES
There is little investigation on the exposure of non-education part-time instructors to pedagogical experience in higher education and on practical support and opportunities for their professional development. This study examined the non-education part-time instructors’ level of competence in teaching tasks through the quantitative approach employing the descriptive-correlative design. The result showed that although there was a high competence in instructional preparation among the non-education part-time instructors, it found that there was moderate competence in constructing learning outcomes and in integrating them with learning activities. Similarly, the respondents also acquired a high level of competence in instructional delivery but showed a lower rating in the appropriate application of teaching methods during instruction. Although a very high competence in psychosocial support was recorded, results showed that their level of competence in assessment and feedback was high. Still, they were found moderately competent in employing various assessment techniques. In correlating these variables with the respondents’ profiles, the four areas of teaching tasks were significantly associated with formal training, and educational attainment was significantly correlated to instructional delivery. It concluded that there is a need to provide a support mechanism through the adoption of the expanded program for non-education part-time instructors.

Application of the Problem-Based Learning Model to Improve Students' Understanding of Welding Defect Material
The purpose of the study is to observe the Problem-Based Learning learning model; it is hoped that students, as prospective welding welders, can understand the types and forms of welding defects that arise to assess the quality of welding performed. This research was conducted on grade XI Las 2 students of SMKN 1 Udanawu using the classroom action research method (Classroom Action Research). The results of the research conducted obtained an increase in the average completeness results of students from the precycle, cycle I, and cycle II students of grade XI Las 2 SMKN 1 Udanawu, which initially only reached 30.2 in the precycle to 56.4 in cycle I and in cycle II to 81.3. This happens because, in practice-based learning, students only concentrate on practice and ignore theories related to welding defects. After Problem-Based Learning is carried out, students better understand the causes and effects of welding defects that arise. The factor that increases student understanding in cycles I and II is that learning is made in groups, so students are more active in identifying welding defects. In cycle II, students present the identification results so that students indirectly understand the material related to welding defects. From the increased learning outcomes, students can judge the welding quality performed
Trends in Islamic Education Management Studies, 2018- 2022
This article discusses the trends in Islamic education management studies at UIN Sunan Ampel Surabaya and UIN Sunan Kalijaga Yogyakarta, as well as the factors driving these trends. After identifying the trends and their influencing factors, this research further proposes recommendations for bolstering Islamic education management studies. The analysis of these trends utilizes theses written by students of the Islamic education management study program at these two universities over five years, from 2018 to 2022. Considering that the theses are available online, the data in this study are sourced from the institutional repositories of both campuses. The data are classified into three study topics: management, leadership, and supervision. These topics are further categorized based on their study area, namely Islamic educational institutions. The data, presented in tables and graphs, are also supplemented with interviews with policy-makers. These interviews serve to delve deeper into the factors influencing the trends in studies. The research reveals a clustering of studies in certain sub-disciplinary areas, attributed to the tendencies in the supervisors' expertise and the availability of topics within the study program, which in turn shape the students' choices of thesis topics. Additionally, there is a factor of replication from previous studies conducted by former students
