Jak amerykański ewangelikalizm „zaprzedał duszę diabłu”? Polityzacja ewangelikalizmu i podjęcie agendy konserwatyzmu politycznego

    No full text
In recent decades, the growing politicization of the space of faith and religious activity has been observed in American Evangelicalism. Particular involvement in public discourse has become an expression of departure from, or perhaps even betrayal of, the all-evangelical strategy of isolation from “the things of this world”. The missiological and evangelical imperative no longer emphasizes only the need to tear as many souls as possible from the “snares of damnation”, but the necessity of introducing social change, which is to become a harbinger of the opening of the eschatological scenario. The state’s aid role has a special place in the politization process. However, this attitude towards this issue is instrumentally used by political circles, especially right-wing populism, which has now become the ideological core of the Republican Party. By supporting the religiously conservative agenda, it is implementing its political program, which is the dismantling of all institutions of the welfare state (deregulation, decentralization). This situation deepens the public sense of insecurity and instability, which in turn pushes the fearful masses into the arms of populism and ideological and identity wars. The aim of this article is to present selected aspects of the process of politicization of Evangelicalism and the resulting implications, for example in the form of opposition to the welfare state.W ostatnich dekadach można zaobserwować w ewangelikalizmie amerykańskim rosnącą polityzację przestrzeni wiary i aktywności religijnej. Poparciem konserwatywnej religijnie agendy realizuje on swój program polityczny, którym jest demontaż wszystkich instytucji państwa opiekuńczego (deregulacja, decentralizacja).

The Polish-German seminars co-organised by staff from the University of Wrocław and the Universities of Siegen and Halle are interdisciplinary events aimed at sharing knowledge, promoting cooperation and integration among participants, and disseminating information about Central European regions and their histories. In September 2024, during the 19th seminar, researchers and students explored the unique region of Lower Lusatia. They were engaged in its multi-religious and multicultural character, reflected in outstanding works of art and architecture, as well as in the region’s rich intangible heritage. At these seminars, art historians, theologians, and Church historians from three academic centres come together to share their expertise and collaborate on group projects – one of the three central pillars of the programme. The second pillar consists of student-led lectures that introduce participants to the history of the region in which that year’s seminar takes place. The third pillar comprises heritage field trips, during which students and art historians deliver presentations on the architecture and art of the region. These excursions offer insights into the area’s rich past as well as the contemporary life of its cultural heritage. The seminar in Lower Lusatia provided participants with the opportunity to experience this unique region in the heart of Europe, take part in interdisciplinary work, and integrate with representatives of all three institutions

„Zadanie nadania Wrocławiowi projektu urbanistycznego godnego jego tradycji architektonicznej i jego pozycji w regionie wschodnim”. Wizje urbanistyczne Wrocławia z lat 1935–1943

The article discusses German urban visions of Breslau from 1935–1943, developed during the period of National Socialist rule in the Third Reich. It analyses the plans for transforming the city into a Nazi metropolis, in accordance with the German Urban Redevelopment Act of 1937. The main directions of change included the monumental architectural projects of Werner March and Herbert Boehm, such as the Gauforum and the reconstruction of the castle square, as well as concepts related to the functional development of the city – new housing estates, the expansion of transport routes and the modernisation of the railway network. The projects presented were part of the propaganda character of Nazi urban planning, emphasising the importance of Wrocław as a centre of Germanness on the eastern fringes of the Reich. The article also identifies regional factors, such as the planned Breslau–Stettin motorway and the Oder–Donau canal, which influenced visions of the city’s redevelopment. The final work was interrupted by warfare and the deteriorating situation of the Third Reich, which meant that most of the plans remained at the concept stage. The text draws on archival material, highlighting its importance for the study of urban planning in the National Socialist period

Muzeum Wsi Opolskiej. Historia powstania oraz ideologiczne i tożsamościowe znaczenie skansenu w Opolu-Bierkowicach

    No full text
This article presents the history behind the establishment of the Museum of Opole Village in Opole-Bierkowice, taking into account its original, never completed project, designed by Jerzy Gurawski. Although currently the open-air museum in Opole does not differ significantly from other such establishments, its original concept, now largely unknown, is an extremely interesting example of the conscious creation of tension between modernity and historicity, and at the same time a kind of architectural commentary on the concept of an open-air museum as a museum space. This article also posits that the Museum of Opole Village is not a neutral presentation of historic folk architecture in a new spatial context. The arrangement and selection of the presented buildings, as well as the narratives created about them, demonstrate that the facility also played an important identity, ideological and political role. Thus, it can be embedded in a broader context of the process of modifying and reinterpreting space and architecture that took place in Opole after its incorporation into Poland in 1945

Voljeni vampir: Vampirica Castelli Roberta Naprte u (poslije)ratnom kontekstu

    No full text
In this article, the author analyses the contemporary interpretation of the vampire theme in the context of war and trauma, as presented in the novel Vampirica Castelli by Robert Naprta (2006). The narrative is divided into two distinct lines. The first one explores the post-war reality, highlighting the crime and immorality that infiltrate a society in transition. The second one delves into a surreal, parallel world shrouded in darkness, set in caves, and located in Velebit and Lika. That world arises from the depths of folk consciousness and mythical traditions. On the one hand, there’s Zagreb, depicted as an urban environment and a tangible reality. On the other hand, there are areas steeped in mysticism, shadowed by the recent war, and laden with mythical significance, like Velebit, often perceived as a mythical mountain. The second narrative line intersects with the first, adding complexity and depth by introducing a vampire, Zoran, who symbolizes the lingering impact of wartime atrocities. The analysis also addresses an identity crisis manifested in the unraveling supernatural mysteries and the examination of masculinity. Male characters are compelled to reassess their role in the world, beliefs, attitudes, values, sexuality, and spirituality, spurred by the intrusion of the irrational into daily life.U ovom radu autorica analizira suvremenu interpretaciju vampirske tematike kroz prizmu ratnih zbivanja i traume u romanu Vampirica Castelli Roberta Naprte.

The concept of a “regional language” was first introduced in the European Charter for Regional or Minority Languages, and then implemented in Poland through The Act on National and Ethnic Minorities and the Regional Language of January 6, 2005, seemed to be a counterweight to the nation–state–language relationship in the Herderian approach, which had long been established in the history of Europe. The experiences of users of the Kashubian language as a “regional language” and the efforts to obtain the same status for the Silesian language show that it is inevitable that the concept of “regional language” will become part of the nationalist discourse of the heritage of national languages. A significant problem is the awareness of the definition of a regional language, because a “regional language” commonly functions as a variety of the Polish language spoken regionally and differing from the literary/standard Polish language. This classification was adopted in Polish studies in the mid–20th century. The well–established terminology allows for various interpretations, also by supporters of the dialectal status of regional languages with regard to Kashubian and Silesian. Many aspects of the relationship between “national/state” languages and “regional” languages can be described using postcolonial discourse. There is no doubt that in the Republic of Poland the status of a minority language is decided by the dominant majority and it is always a political decision.Pòjmjenjé „rejonalni jãzëk” vprovadzoné nôprzód v Europejskji kôrce rejonalnëch abò mjészëznovëch jãzëkóv z 5 nóvembra 1992 rokù, a téj v Pòlsce v Wustavje wo nôrodnëch ë etnjicznëch mjészëznach a téż wo rejonalnim jãzëkù z 6 januara 2005 rokù, vëdôvalo sã bëc procëmvôgõ do dôvno jú fùnkcionérëjõcégò v historëji Europë pòrzõdkù nôród–państvò–jãzëk v herderiańskjim wujãcim.
