Dyspozycyjny wizerunek Rosji jako wroga w nagłośnieniu incydentu w Cieśninie Kerczeńskiej (2018) przez polskie media
This paper aims to analyze how the Polish media constructed a dispositional enemy image of Russia during the Kerch Strait Incident. Eighty-seven materials from four daily newspapers and two TV news programs were analyzed using the content analysis method with elements of framing analysis and comparative analysis. The results show that the anti-Russian perspective of the coverage was the result of negative stereotypes and prejudices, and Polish journalists demonized Russia’s actions by referring to historical events and the negative consequences of the Russo–Ukrainian dispute for Poland, such as the military threat from Russia. This paper aims to analyze how the Polish media constructed a dispositional enemy image of Russia during the Kerch Strait Incident. The New Antireductionism: Its Components and Its Significance
Beginning in the 1970s and culminating in the first two decades of the 21st century, there has been a marked shift in the sciences from a predominantly reductionist and mechanistic approach to a broader and more holistic viewpoint. It goes without saying that such a shift in point of view will have significant implications, not only for the sciences but for our concepts of nature and of human beings. The present essay is an attempt to assess the significance of this change in the focus of the sciences and to describe the nature of its components. Originally, it had a far more limited scope, that of comparing two of the parts of the new nonreductionist stance: brain plasticity and biological systems theory. Unfortunately, my understanding of one of these factors (systems theory) turned out to be incorrect, while the section on brain plasticity was incomplete. The result of this dual realization is an essay of far greater scope, taking in both new developments in the sciences far beyond that of plasticity, and reassessing the content and impact of systems theory, which is greater than I had thought. I will begin with a study of systems theory, dealing first with the unexpected mathematics which made its present status possible. Then I will deal with its history, which reaches back over a century. One of the confusions into which we are liable to fall is to fail to distinguish the old systems theory from the new. This is even more likely because the two versions of the theory have many features in common
Model mitograficzny i model muzyczny jako dwa sposoby interpretacji storytellingu w serialu „Ślepnąc od świateł” Krzysztofa Skoniecznego oraz jego powieściowym pierwowzorze
The adventures of a Warsaw-based drug dealer described in the narratives of Żulczyk’s Blinded by the Lights novel (2014) and Skonieczny’s streaming series (2018) obviously are drawn from the British hip-hop composition Blinded by the Lights by The Streets (2014), both from it’s musical and narrative structure. This, in turn, is undoubtedly derived from the archetype of the mythical journey of the hero described in Jonathan Campbell’s seminal work The Hero with a Thousand Faces (1949). Żulczyk’s prose may indeed be a kind of extended gloss to the piece by The Streets, which takes the hero’s story to a higher narrative level. At the same time, however, it becomes a pre-text for the series, which can already draw on both narratives and define itself in relation to them. The above analysis shows how this interpretative dependence can be defined by the use of different models of interpretation that are embedded in two cultural patterns: the archetypal narrative prototype of a monomyth and the narrative-musical form of a hip-hop storytelling based on the cultural framework of the mythical katabasis. „Życie na podsłuchu”. Ocena treści filmu w świetle praktyki działania Ministerstwa Bezpieczeństwa Państwowego NRD. Głos w dyskusji
The article presents an analysis of the film The Lives of Others which assesses it accuracy in depicting the methods utilized by the Ministry of State Security of the GDR. It was undertaken in the context of the persistent post-2022 criticism of the production. My considerations are not limited to the historical plausibility of the main story arc, but also the depictions of the security officers’ professional ethics, their conduct, the jargon they use, and the equipment they were shown using. The analysis was supplemented with the results archival research on the functioning of the GDR as a state and more specifically — its security apparatus. The primary conclusion is that the depictions of the professional ethos and conduct of the officers was mostly accurate, at least as long as depicting these elements did not distort the coherence of the narrative. What is more, the main story arc is found to be reasonably plausible, as is the case with the vivid portrayal of the climate of fear and surveillance by the secret service, which was prevalent in the GDR.The article presents an analysis of the film The Lives of Others which assesses it accuracy in depicting the methods utilized by the Ministry of State Security of the GDR. Albumy Feliksa Matuszelańskiego. Pamiątka osobista — dokumentacja filmów — upamiętnienie Marii Hirszbein
In the collection of the Museum of the History of Polish Jews POLIN is an album that contains various paper documents, such as programmes, leaflets on several pre-war films, as well as photographs of the films and their sets. There are also cards with commemorative writings (stammbuch) sewn into the initial section. These are mainly materials from the production of the Warsaw-based Leo-Film studio, headed since 1926 by Maria Hirszbein, one of the most important institutions of its kind in pre-war Poland. The author of this article describes this unusual artefact, trying to show its multi-layered nature. Matuszelański’s album, originally intended as a reflection of his own professional way and an album of memorabilia, and evolving over the years into an archive showing the activities of the Leo-Film studio — in its present form it is an album in memory of Maria Hirszbein, who was perished in the Holocaust. In the collection of the Museum of the History of Polish Jews POLIN is an album that contains various paper documents, such as programmes, leaflets on several pre-war films, as well as photographs of the films and their sets. De variatie van de Nederlandse diminutieve allomorfie: een empirische benadering
This article deals with the variation of diminutive forms in contemporary standard Dutch. Various aspects of the Dutch diminutive are well-documented in the literature. However, there is a distinct lack of empirical research in connection with the variation of the diminutive forms. The article provides a brief overview of diminutive formation in Dutch as well as an account of a corpus-based study examining a group of words that exhibit variation in their diminutive forms in contemporary standard Dutch, namely monosyllabic words ending in either a non-coronal stop or a velar fricative preceded by a short vowel. The goal of the study is to provide insight on the behaviour of the diminutive forms of these stems. This article deals with the variation of diminutive forms in contemporary standard Dutch. Comment comparer les formules expressives de la conversation : le cas de « faut pas pousser » et son équivalent en polonais « bez przesady »
The main aim of this article is to highlight discrepancies and similarities in the structuring and use of the French expressive conversational formula faut pas pousser and its Polish equivalent bez przesady. The use of a descriptive model based on a set of relevant formal, pragmatic-semantic, discourse, affective and socio-cultural parameters made it possible to show in which speech acts, depending on the respective contexts, the formulae being compared are involved. The main aim of this article is to highlight discrepancies and similarities in the structuring and use of the French expressive conversational formula faut pas pousser and its Polish equivalent bez przesady. Entre la linguistique et le social : comparaison des principes théoriques et méthodologiques de l’ethnolinguistique de Lublin et de la sémantique discursive
This paper focuses on the theorical and methodological principles of two linguistic trends interested in the conceptualisation of reality in language or in discourse: the ethnolinguistic school of Lublin and discursive semantics. The similarities and differences between the two approaches described in the article concern their goals, research concepts, data corpus and analysis results. The paper ends up with a conclusion on the possibility of integrating ethnolinguistic and semanticdiscursive research within a multidisciplinary project. This paper focuses on the theorical and methodological principles of two linguistic trends interested in the conceptualisation of reality in language or in discourse: the ethnolinguistic school of Lublin and discursive semantics.
