The paper deals with the issue of foreign language teaching methodology. It presents a question of motivating foreign students to intensify their speech activity while learning the Ukrainian language. The author’s principal focus is on the role of motivational tasks in the formation of foreign-language communicative competence, as well as in building professional and social skills by a foreign audience. Results of the conducted research confirmed the usefulness of creating such motivational tasks, based on cross-cultural sources, for foreign students of humanities. Said motivational tasks include open-type creative assignments that are based on the previously received phonetic, lexical and grammar skills and encourage learners to speak out using the Ukrainian language. This article provides models of communication situations, role-playing games, presentations, discussions, projects and some other creative oral and written exercises based on materials about life in Kyiv. The conclusions on the results of the integration of these tasks into the educational process are subsequently presented. The paper deals with the issue of foreign language teaching methodology.
Due to the increase of the importance of translation in the modern world, the profession of translator has gained some popularity — especially among those who study foreign languages. The article discusses the role of translation in teaching Ukrainian as a foreign language, where translation is suggested as the fifth language skill (following speaking, writing, etc). The possibilities for the development of translation competence together with the role of didactic translation in a Ukrainian class for foreign language learners have been analyzed herein. Moreover, the article presents some methodological recommendations for a variety of text types as well as a choice of useful translation exercises for teaching Ukrainian as a foreign language.Due to the increase of the importance of translation in the modern world, the profession of translator has gained some popularity — especially among those who study foreign languages.
The article is devoted to the study of linguistic texts, namely reviews, published in two Ukrainian journals which played an active role in the field of scientific journalism in the 1920s and 1930s. This study was conducted according to the principles of descriptive analysis. The structure of selected reviews is presented, as well as an outline of certain issues that were unresolved in the contemporaneous study of language, such as the question about the origin of the Ukrainian language or the issues of language norm or description of phonetic phenomena. In addition, the issue of two linguistic schools in Ukraine of that period was raised and their confrontation was outlined based on the analyzed texts. The article is devoted to the study of linguistic texts, namely reviews, published in two Ukrainian journals which played an active role in the field of scientific journalism in the 1920s and 1930s. Struktura ontyczna świata poetyckiego w „Balladach i romansach” Adama Mickiewicza. Część pierwsza
This paper continues the analysis of Adam Mickiewicz’s dissertation On Romantic Poetry and expands the thesis that the presented theory of poetic worlds and types of poetry is a literary application of a more general, ontological theory of the human universe. The investigation into the spiritual world conducted by the poet in “Hymn for the Day of the Annunciation of the Blessed Virgin Mary” serves as the initial exposition in favor of this theory.
The subject of this study is the institution of a break in order to undertake treatment or rehabilitation. Due to the fact that this is a special extra-code mechanism dedicated to convicted addicts, the considerations undertaken by the author go in two directions.Firstly, an attempt was made to determine to what extent it is consistent with the entire system of execution of penalties and penal measures, especially against the background of recent changes in the area of deviations from the principle of continuity of punishment. Secondly, a detailed analysis of the correctness of the regulation of this provision was conducted in terms of its eff ective and ratio legis application to addicted prisoners.
The article presents the relationship between the principles, directives, and aims of imposing and executing a penalty. The author attempts to show that these principles, directives, and aims are closely related to and included in the conviction and sanction phases of the enforcement process. Taking these connections into account allows one to solve many practically signifi cant problems and reconstruct the content of premises of various penal structures in more effective way.W artykule zaprezentowano relacje między zasadami, dyrektywami oraz celami wymiaru oraz wykonania kary.
Upojenie i melancholia. „Sztuka w zaścianku” Jacka Malczewskiego
The article is a voice in the discussion on the interpretation of Jacek Malczewski’s painting Sztuka w zaścianku (Art in a backwater). The author, referring to the Nietzschean interpretation of art presented in The Birth of Tragedy, focuses on the motif of artistic initiation, the question of the nature and sources of creation, the artist’s mission and doubts. She emphasizes the peculiar correspondence between the poetics of folk ballads, revealing supernatural reality, and Mediterranean myths. Art, seen as a metaphysical act, an eternal, primordial, inexhaustible force, as Malczewski shows – arises and revives not only under the Greek sky, but also in a backwater devoid of any sun. The Polish symbolist shares with the German philosopher a longing for the lost power of creating the spiritual world, the mystery of myth, which pacifies the horror and chaos of existence. The figure of the faun, popular in modernist poetry, is in Malczewski’s view a figure of the artist-dreamer, but also a sign of melancholy, uncertainty of modern human
Controversies around the concept of “style” in the architecture of the 20th and 21st centuries
The term “style” was associated with the periodization of art and architecture in Johann Joachim Winckelmann’s work Geschichte der Kunst des Alterthums (1764). Despite the passage of time, many elements of Winckelmann’s theory in hidden form remained valid in the following epochs. The influence of Georg Wilhelm Friedrich Hegel’s philosophy led to the belief that the circumstances of the creation of a work of art affect its forms and contents. This view was argued by art historians in the late 1960s. Criticism of historicism in humanistic research was initially carried out under the influence of the philosophy of science of Karl Raimund Popper. At that time, the beliefs about the existence of ideological values of subsequent epochs that determine the forms and content of works of art were rejected. Another form of criticism of historicism stemmed from the philosophy of Hans-Georg Gadamer, who recognized that a work of art actualizes the message of tradition in contact with the viewer. A critique of historicism in architecture, based on Popper, can be found in the work of David Watkin. The errors in the historiography of modernist architecture were characterized by Panayotis Tournikiotis. He showed contradictions in the definition of avant-garde modernism that occurred in the first two generations of his historians. Today, however, the concepts of styles still contain threads of thought reaching back to Winckelmann and Hegel. The basic feature of the functioning of contemporary styles in architecture is their historicism reaching beyond history, and therefore not so much imitation of old forms, but rather a critical examination of the intellectual foundations of architecture
