Cyrkularne inscenizacje tożsamości. O jednoujęciowych filmach Shahrama Mokriego
The goal of this article is to reopen the debate over the relationship between aesthetics and ethics, using Shahram Mokri’s innovative poetics as an example. The author employs structural, comparative, and ideological analysis methods to examine Iranian one-take films. He situates the director’s filmography within the broader context of Iranian cinema history and provides a detailed description of the narrative loop tactics employed by Mokri in his works. Then he interprets the original style using Gilbert Simondon’s ontological concept of individuation and Judith Butler’s queer theory. Thus, he combines a look at the periphery of film production with an examination of the marginal position of entities resisting discursive hegemony. The author argues that the epistemic dissonance that results from the confrontation of a long take’s apparent realism with mise en abyme narrative strategies and chronological aporicity has the potential to reflect the complex nature of identity lability without resorting to explicitly political or philosophical content

Pleasure, impulse, compulsion, and rationality in the behavior of young consumers in the context of contemporary challenges and current events
In modern societies, significant changes are taking place in the sphere of consumption. Consumption is no longer just a way of satisfying needs. Sometimes it can also be about experiencing pleasure (also on impulse) or relieving tension. A characteristic behavior of pleasure consumers is the spontaneous (impulsive) purchase of goods that are attractive to them. At the same time, impulsive purchases differ from rationalized purchases in that the decision to purchase a given product is made quickly and usually without deeper reflection. The purpose of this article is to try to answer the question, what is the essence of purchasing decisions in the face of the challenges of the modern world, such as the COVID-19 pandemic, the war in Ukraine and inflation? What are the shopping habits of young consumers, especially in relation to their emotional, psychological, social, and economic spheres? In light of these challenges, can one notice any adaptation strategies, “survival” strategies, rationalization of behavior, or, on the contrary, will the orientation towards pleasure, compulsive shopping, or impulse purchases dominate? The subject of this article is the consumer behavior of young people, perceived as a series of reactions to various stimuli — instincts, emotions — that inspire and mobilize them to satisfy their needs. The answers to the questions posed above were obtained by analyzing the data obtained through qualitative research using the technique of focus group interviews

Artysta i jego matka. „Pamiętnik...” Adelajdy Wiwulskiej jako świadectwo epoki
Architect and sculptor Antoni Wiwulski (1877–1919) is one of the most interesting figures in Polish artistic life of the early 20th century. His mother, Adelajda Wiwulska, née Karpuszko (1857–1945), played an important role in his life. Antoni, who never married and did not start a family of his own, remained under her considerable influence throughout his life.Adelajda Wiwulska was a strong personality, with a firm character, very religious and having close contacts with church circles. In her youth she showed a penchant for music. She married when she was only 18; when she was widowed, she was 26. A valuable document introducing her life and personality, but also the customs of the era, is Pamiętnik... (Memoir...), left by her, written in 1930–1932 and left in manuscript. It contains information about the Karpuszko and Wiwulski families, shows the fate of Adelajda, and the last part focuses on the person of her son, Antoni. The most interesting passages, however, are the earlier ones, depicting the customs of the moderately wealthy Lithuanian nobility in the 19th c., as well as shedding light on the position of a young woman in those days – on the nature of education and issues related to marriage. The dramatic events of the January Uprising and post-Uprising repressions constitute an important theme as well
Loan words or (neo)linguistic purism: A false alternative instead of complementary dialectics
Loan words generally have a bad reputation – but it is hard to imagine the language without them anyway. The reason for this ambivalence seems not least to be the fact that foreign borrowings, mostly in statu nascendi, may cause hostility because of the disruption of the usual resting position, while their numerically serious catalytic role in the establishment of target language equivalents – usually with the disappearance of the borrowings connected – mostly goes unnoticed. This discrepancy is summed up as the dialectic of conflict, and according to Spitzmüller (2005) as the “incompatibility of two divergent discourses”: “[It] shows that language in public is more than a medium of communication: it functions as a collective ›social symbol‹ and as a means of constituting identity and alterity. Metalinguistic discourse is therefore never exclusively related to language. Social fears, social conflicts and therefore a given socio-historical situation always stand behind it.”Loan words generally have a bad reputation – but it is hard to imagine the language without them anyway.
