This paper analyzes the origins and key features of Spanish influence on Russian culture and literature, particularly evident in the poetry of Alexander Anashevich from the 1990s to the 2010s. The author places significant emphasis on the urban context of Madrid, a city characterized by its profound emotional depth, physicality, erotic motifs, and dreamlike qualities. Additionally, Madrid serves as a logical counterpoint to St Petersburg, often considered the most literature-rich city in Russia, creating a geo-cultural “South–North” dichotomy. In this artistic exploration, Spain as a whole serves as a prototype for a universe that encompasses both heavenly and hellish elements within its creative sphere. In summary, Anashevich presents an idealistic landscape that is most suitable for erotic lyrics while also serving as a space for transgressive themes.
The article is devoted to the analysis of the reflections of the Russian writer and poet Maria Stepanova on the place and meaning of her family history in the face of groundbreaking events on a global scale. The place in memory of active participants of “grand history” as well as those who — as in the case of Stepanova’s family members — remained unnoticed by it. The author based her methodological approach on the concepts formulated by theoreticians of broadly understood memory studies: Marianna Hirsch, Aleida Assmann, Krzysztof Pomian and Astrid Erll. The concepts of post-memory, semiophore, and counter-memory creatively adapted to the analysis of the work allowed us to draw a conclusion about the transcultural dimension of memory in Maria Stepanova’s novel.
Na przeklętej ziemi. Obraz życia wspólnoty czarnogórskiej w miniaturze literackiej „Vrana” Miodraga Bulatovicia
The article is part on an ongoing study on the early works of Miodrag Bulatović. It’s main subject is the writer’s literary debut in the press — a miniature entitled Vrana. The author focuses on the everyday life of the Montenegrin communities. The analysis includes the motifs present in the miniature, namely: wandering, barren landscapes, extreme poverty, collective rejection, hunger, madness and crime. Moreover, the author draws attention to theriomorphic symbols, the social category of stigma, selected elements of spiritual culture and customary law in the form of blood feuds. The analysis utilizes conceptual tools from the fields of psychopathology, humanistic psychiatry, demonology, sociology, the theory of the grotesque — with a particular emphasis on the aesthetics of ugliness.
The object of the study is sandhi in the modern Czech language based on phonetic research of the Czech corpus of spoken language – ORTOFON v2. In the Czech Standard norm, wordfinal obstruents undergo devoicing before the initial sonorant of the following word. The research showed that the standard norm does not reflect fully the modern spoken Czech language situation. In the modern Czech language, the word-final obstruents may undergo voicing before the initial sonorant
Implozje kultury i natury. O projektowaniu wraz z przyrodą
The problem of the climate crisis is being analysed within a variety of scientific disciplines, and its complexity is prompting researchers to blur conceptual boundaries and strive for interdisciplinary research. This gives rise to ontological considerations, as it addresses, among other things, the now well-established nature-culture dualism. Numerous polemics against its validity are based on the need for cultural studies, and humanities in general, to move out of an anthropocentric orientation. The creation of hybrid terms like ‘natureculture’ aims to build a new vocabulary and bottom-up methodologies that respond to new challenges. Is there a chance to find in Stanislaw Pietraszko’s binary theory of culture a gateway to transcend dualisms and search for the intertwining of the human and the non-human? In this text I seek an answer to this question, and point to the theoretical basis for developing possible narratives about the world after the Anthropocene. These stories situate at their centre adventitious relations that happen between species. I present examples of these through an analysis of three unique activities in which male and female designers collaborate with nature: animate and inanimate. Their practices transcend anthropocentric boundaries and inspire new ways of living.
I present an analysis of the significance of language in the processes of identity negotiation and community building in Nakivale, one of the largest and oldest refugee camps in the world. Utilizing Homi Bhabha’s theory of hybridization, I demonstrate how language shapes interactions among refugees from diverse cultures. In Nakivale, where more than seven nationalities reside, language plays a crucial role in daily identity negotiations. The hybrid identity, formed in the “third space”, results from complex linguistic and cultural processes. I emphasize that language can both support integration and lead to exclusion if systematic support is lacking. I propose interventions aimed at promoting multilingualism and cultural sensitivity, which can improve the living conditions of refugees in Nakivale
Państwo w „epoce człowieka” — wymiar ontologiczny i epistemologiczny
The central problem constituting the background of this text is to seek answer to the questions about the main strengths that change the state identity during the long term of its existence and evolution starting from the Holocen Age to Anthropocen. The main problem are the main changes or the driving forces that facilitate the potential of adaption to the real world. Among the effects of driving forces that facilitate the potential of adaptation to the real world which is changing in the long term.
It is my main thesis that central position in the processes of evolution and adaptation to the developing world was played by the human being. It means that the main idea of this text is to discuss human abilities to change our living space, forces changing the space, the social structure, and civilizational achievements.
The problem addressed in this article is directly related to the relationship between phenomena and occurrences which have been taking place in the real world for generation and which are substantial to the state and its ontological context
Erozja demokracji liberalnej w Polsce po 2015 roku
The admiration for liberal democracy as a future of postcommunist states has gone irretrievably. Its crisis has been discussed more and more often. The search for alternative solutions (more adjusted to the post-communist conditions) continues. Such notions as erosion or regression of liberal democracy, democratic backsliding or autocratization seem to reflect more properly the political reality of at least some of East European countries. The aim of this article is on the one hand the analysis of the semantic categories used in description of political processes occurring in such countries as Hungary and Poland, and on the other picture of peculiar features of Poland, which may be treated as an example of “advanced erosion” and “incomplete autocratization”
Życiorys Augusta Krasickiego (1873–1946) na tle dziejów rodziny
The Krasicki family remained in possession of the Lesko estate for a little less than 150 years. During this period, many Krasickis were involved in the Polish independence movement as well as engaged in political, economic and cultural activities. The last owner of Lesko— count August Krasicki (1873–1946) — took part in public life both during Austrian rule and in independent Poland. Before 1914, he held the position of the marshal of the Lesko county and served as a member of the Diet of Galicia and Lodomeria. During World War I, he served in the Polish Legions as the commandant’s aide-de-camp. He was part of the 2nd Brigade of the Legions. In 1916, he became a member of the Military Department of the Supreme National Committee. A dendrologist by education, he served as the president of the Galician and then Małopolska (Lesser Poland) Forest Society, as well as a member of many other economic and educational organizations (local and national). His biography shows numerous similarities with the fate of his ancestors, thus proving the vitality of the landed gentry tradition
Pieśni i opowieści łemkowskie. Etnograficzno-teatralny projekt „Spotkania/Muzykowania”
Spotkania/Muzykowania (Meetings/Music-making) was an ethnographic and theatrical project carried out at the New World Centre affiliated to the Modjeska Theatre in Legnica, Poland, from April 2011 to October 2012. The project focused on Lemko culture, specifically, on Lemko folk songs and the narratives of the Lemkos resettled under Operation Vistula in 1947. Building on Victor Turner’s experiments and experiences, the project was designed to ‘perform ethnography’ as part of theatrical work on the narratives and folk songs encountered in the field. An amateur musical performance staged in Legnica, Gorlice and other venues was one of the project’s outcomes. The article briefly introduces the history of Operation Vistula, outlines the stages of the project (research, workshops and the performance) and attempts to capture the reception of the performance and its impact and influence on the audience, the participants and the interlocutors
