Challenges in Managing an Ischemic Cerebral Vascular Stroke in a Child with a Homozygote SS Sickle Cell Associated with Cerebral Palsy: A Case Study
Introduction: Ischemic stroke is one of the most frequently observed complications of sickle cell disease. It can also be associated with cognitive impairment. These two neurological expressions of the disease can coexist in the same patient. Objective: Report a case of stroke and mental retardation in a child with homozygous SS sickle cell disease. Observation: A child aged 5 years and 8 months, homozygous sickle cell anemia, epileptic non-compliant with his antiepileptic treatment, was admitted for epileptic seizures that gradually developed over 2 months. The diagnosis of severe complicated major sickle cell syndrome was established. Discussion: The management of neurovascular, epileptic, and cognitive complications of sickle cell disease in our patient with cerebral palsy and major sickle cell disease required evaluating the risk of occurrence of severe anemia and stratification of the risk of stroke recurrence. Conclusion: Management of a major sickle cell syndrome associated with neurovascular, epileptic, and cognitive impact in a child with sickle cell disease and cerebral palsy must comply with recent recommendations
This article examines psychiatric dangerousness, defined as the likelihood that an individual with a mental disorder may act dangerously. The objective is to analyze the psychosocial determinants of this dangerousness based on in-depth interviews with eight patients from the Bingerville Psychiatric Hospital (BPH). Among them, there is one case of delusional psychosis, three borderline personalities, one psychotic disorder, one paranoid disorder, one substance dependency, and one case of schizophrenia. Four are women, and four are men. Their ages range from 26 to 55 years. The hypothesis suggests that social stigma, family isolation, and lack of support are crucial factors in the emergence of deviant behaviors. The study adopts a qualitative approach, relying on semi-structured interviews and clinical observation. Engel's biopsychosocial model is used to integrate biological, psychological, and social factors. The results show that stigma and isolation exacerbate deviant behaviors, which patients perceive as survival mechanisms. These findings highlight the need for a care approach that goes beyond mere security, focusing on psychosocial interventions to reduce marginalization and improve patients' social reintegration
This study aims to assess the content related to earthquakes and seismic risk, as well as the integration of seismic risk education in Life and Earth Sciences textbooks in Morocco. To achieve this, a content analysis was conducted on nine textbooks, including six from the middle school level and three from the high school level, using an analysis grid based on five criteria. The results revealed that the treatment of earthquakes is predominantly descriptive. The concept of seismic risk, which includes hazard, vulnerability, and exposure, is entirely absent. Furthermore, the textbooks focus mainly on the origins of earthquakes, tectonic plates, and their movements. In addition, LES textbooks at the secondary school level do not cover the impact of earthquakes or seismic risk management strategies. The destructive effects of earthquakes on human life, property, and landscapes are mentioned in some middle school textbooks. Regarding earthquake management, only a few middle school textbooks address certain preventive and safety measures. There is a need to include more concrete examples and mitigation measures to enhance students' understanding. In conclusion, this research highlights the importance of connecting acquired scientific knowledge with local issues and the need to better integrate seismic risk prevention education into LES school textbooks. This would not only raise students' awareness of mitigation strategies and practical earthquake management but also strengthen their resilience in the face of natural disasters

The carbon footprint as a key indicator for environmental management controllers: towards environmental performance: A literature review
Environmental considerations are increasingly critical for corporate sustainability and success. While businesses integrate environmental management into their strategies, the practical implementation of environmental management control systems, or “eco-control,” remains underexplored. This paper examines the conditions necessary for effectively integrating carbon footprint requirements and regulatory codes into eco-control systems. We articulate the importance of environmental performance objectives in addition to traditional performance objectives as core values of control management. Additionally, we highlight the pivotal role of environmental management controllers in aligning environmental sustainability with traditional business objectives. By measuring greenhouse gas emissions and developing strategies that are both economically viable and environmentally sound, controllers embed environmental objectives into core business processes. Despite challenges like capturing indirect emissions and the lack of standardized reporting methods, they have the potential to make sustainability a strategic component of corporate management. Future research should focus on enhancing their role by developing better tools and standardized methodologies for measuring environmental performance
The skin is the main organ of the outer covering of the body of humans and animals. It is often confronted with burns that are expensive to treat and sometimes leave after-effects on the victims. This study aims to evaluate the healing effect of Saba senegalensis gum on a second-degree burn model in Rattus norvegicus strain Wistar. The ointment formulated with 15 % hydroethanolic extract 70% Saba senegalensis gum promoted wound healing on day 17, while the ointment formulated with 5 % led to wound healing on day 23. As for the placebo and the healing cream: silver sulfadiazine, did not succeed in healing the rats' wounds during the 23 days of treatment. This healing activity of Saba senegalensis gum is linked to the presence of flavonoids and tannins, as well as zinc. Indeed, flavonoids promote the production of collagen fibers and fibroblasts and increase the angiogenic response necessary for wound healing. Also, the presence of tannins in Saba senegalensis gum promotes the healing of skin wounds because tannins have antibacterial and angiogenic activities. In addition, the zinc present in Saba senegalensis gum contributes to wound healing because zinc is a cofactor of many metalloenzymes necessary for cell membrane repair. This extract is a promising source for the development of healing herbal medicines

Decoupling and EKC in European Union countries: A shiftshare decomposition of air emissions
This paper examines the non-linear effect of per capita GDP growth rate, trade openness, physical and human capital endowments on air pollution in the EU region over the period 2008-2016 by decomposing air emissions into scale, composition and technique effects. Results show a negative non-linear relationship between greenhouse and acidifying gases emissions and per capita GDP growth rate, with more open economies tending to reduce emissions both directly and indirectly through investment in physical capital. The determinants mainly affect the scale component, although the environmental improvement due to capital investment works through the technique component. There are heterogeneous effects across countries, with more pronounced environmental benefits for countries in the higher deciles of GDP and trade growth rates.

Impact of the Distance Travelled to School on Students' Performance, Tardiness, and Absenteeism in Public Schools in Morocco
The challenges of providing equitable access to quality education are particularly acute in rural areas, where the distance pupils have to travel to school can have a significant impact on their academic performance. This study addresses the critical question: How does the distance students have to travel to school affect their academic outcomes? Focusing on a primary school in a rural area of Morocco, the research aims to analyze the relationship between students' travel times and their academic performance. Based on a statistical analysis of data collected from 220 students, the study uses univariate analysis, ANOVA, and Pearson correlation tests to examine the effects of commute time on tardiness, absenteeism, and academic performance. The results indicate that longer commute times are associated with higher rates of tardiness and absenteeism, as well as lower student performance. These findings highlight the urgent need to address logistical challenges in rural areas in order to improve educational outcomes. The study concludes by emphasizing the need for targeted interventions, such as improved transport infrastructure, to mitigate the negative impact of long commutes on student performance
