    Get PDF
At Yaoundé Central Prison Yaoundé, there is a total lack of post-prison follow-up, particularly the existence of outplacement centres for prisoners on their release from prison. As a result, former inmates face many difficulties in reintegrating into society after their stay in prison. These shortcomings reflect a form of cognitive dissonance between the texts and the context. Under these conditions, how can you be an ex-prisoner, deal with the post-prison reality post-prison reality and successfully reintegrate into socio-professional life? life? To answer this question, the research was based on interviews and questionnaires carried out with a sample of 50 ex-prisoners selected using the accidental sampling technique snowball method. Analysis of the results the non-existence of post-prison support structures, social exclusion, and the country's economic situation have an impact on the reintegration of ex-prisoners

Conclusion: PRP has strongly emerged in recent years due to its successful therapeutic use in high-level athletes. Its indications were quickly extended to the treatment of osteoarthritic pathology, particularly knee osteoarthritis

    Get PDF
Political culture in Morocco recognized the Moroccan sovereign as a sacred person. Royal sacredness, based on the possession of baraka (spiritual blessing), shaped life at the sultans' court and their relationship with their subjects. The sacred nature of monarchy, as well as its connection to power and violence, is related to the sovereign's lineage and noble birth. The secular world was ruled by a sacred person. Moulay Hassan is an example of a Moroccan sultan who held both legitimate physical power and spiritual authority. The anthropological approach helps us get closer to the actors and describe the situations in which the sovereign’s spiritual reality is expressed. Historiographers close to the Moroccan court were given more importance than others, following the principle of methodological proximity. The structure of monarchical power fits with the general principle of legitimacy: being a descendant of the Prophet, inheritor of baraka, and commander of the faithful

    Get PDF
Rectal surgery is the only potentially curative treatment for many rectal pathologies, whether benign or malignant. However, postoperative complications can significantly impact the prognosis of patients. This retrospective study aimed to investigate morbidity and mortality among patients undergoing rectal cancer surgery over a two-year period at the Department of Digestive Cancer Surgery and Hepatic Transplantation of Ibn Rochd University Hospital (CHU) in Casablanca, Morocco. Among 62 patients, the average age was 61.98 ± 10.2 years (mean ± SD), with a female-to-male ratio of 1.5. Overall morbidity and mortality rates were 40.3% and 12%, respectively. Postoperative complications primarily included surgical site infections (40%) and urinary infections (20%), while long-term complications comprised incisional hernias (20%) and sexual problems (8%). The primary cause of mortality was intraoperative hemorrhage (8%) (Almatroudi, 2020). Factors influencing morbidity and mortality included age, BMI, comorbidities, type of intervention, and the benign or malignant nature of the pathology. Neoadjuvant chemotherapy was administered to 88% of patients and should be considered a key factor influencing outcomes, as it may contribute to better tumor control and reduce the extent of surgical resections required (Gado et al., 2014). The small sample size of this study may limit the statistical significance of the findings. Further research with a larger cohort is necessary to corroborate these results

Factors Influencing Farmers’ Knowledge, Capacity, and Practice of Conservation Agriculture in Bangladesh

    Get PDF
Conservation Agriculture (CA) is an alternative to the conventional farming system, which is considered a way of achieving climate-smart agriculture. Despite various CA support programs and promotional activities in Bangladesh, a major portion of CA farmers are reluctant to continue CA farming. This research aimed to reveal the extent and difficulties of continuing the practice and the gap between farmers’ knowledge, ability, and performance. To collect data, we conducted a cross-sectional survey of 201 CA-adopting farmers from northern districts, namely Rajshahi, Rangpur, and Dinajpur. Results show that, among all components of CA practices in the area, most of the farmers regularly practice minimum tillage. The results also indicate that average income, access to and availability of machinery, and the knowledge gap are all commonly significant and have a big effect on the three dependent variables: the can-do gap, the know-can gap, and the know gap. The evidence indicates that reducing these gaps requires subsidies for resource-poor farmers and easy access to the machinery needed for CA practice. Public or private investments, or a combination of both, can effectively reduce these gaps

Introduction: Maternal mortality remains a major public health problem, particularly in resource-limited countries such as Benin. Despite efforts made in recent years, maternal deaths remain a cause for concern, notably due to direct obstetrical complications and indirect causes, such as medical pathologies associated with pregnancy. This study aims to describe the epidemiological aspects of maternal deaths in the Donga department, Benin, from 2020 to 2024. Methodology: This is a retrospective descriptive study based on data from audits of maternal deaths in the two health zones of Donga department: Djougou-Copargo-Ouaké and Bassila. Data were collected using a standardized audit form, then analyzed by distinguishing between direct and indirect obstetrical causes, in accordance with World Health Organization classification. Variables analyzed included year of occurrence, sociodemographic characteristics of the deceased women, time to care and circumstances of death. Results: For the Donga department as a whole, the cumulative maternal mortality rate between 2020 and 2024 is estimated at around 95.65 deaths per 100,000 live births. The majority of women who died were aged between 20 and 35 years (72.00%) and lived in rural areas (74.80%), the main causes being post-partum haemorrhage (36.21%), hypertensive disorders of pregnancy, notably pre-eclampsia and eclampsia (17.24%), and uterine rupture (11.21%). Indirect causes were dominated by severe anemia (62.96%). The majority of deaths (72.70%) occurred within the first 24 hours of admission, mainly in the post-partum period (67.80%). Conclusion: Maternal mortality in Donga remains a cause for concern, with preventable causes such as post-partum haemorrhage and hypertensive complications. The results of this study underline the need to reinforce access to and quality of emergency obstetric care, particularly in the post-partum period, and to improve prevention and management of medical pathologies associated with pregnancy

Leadership Transformationnel des Conseillers d’Orientation face aux Violences de Genre en Milieu Scolaire au Nord Cameroun

    Get PDF
In the northern region of Cameroon, gender – based violence in schools (SGBV) is exacerbated by structural factors such as patriarchy, poverty, security crises and rigid traditional norms. This psychological, sexual and physical violence affects pupils of all genders and contributes to school drop – out. The effects of such violence vary, from isolation among girls to aggression among boys. A study, carried out between June and July 2020 in the context of COVID – 19, explored the impact of the transformational leadership of guidance counsellors in preventing this violence. It adopted a mixed methodology by reasoned choice, based on 929 participants by questionnaire administered in 7 secondary schools and 11 by interview in 1 additional school. She demonstrates that the dimensions of transformational leadership – transformational charisma, intellectual stimulation and individual consideration – foster a healthier school climate. This style of leadership encourages listening and boosts students’ self – esteem. It promotes values of respect and solidarity. Although each dimension has a moderate effect, the synergy between them helps to improve behaviour and student development in schools. Despite the structural factors, transformational leadership appears to be a relevant strategy for reducing SGBV and supporting pupils in their personal and educational development

    Get PDF
This study examines the representation of novelistic space along three axes: mimetic space, functional toposemy, and ideological symbolism in Camara Laye’s The Dark Child and Ahmadou Kourouma’s The Suns of Independence. A critical reading demonstrates that the space in both texts is constructed to interrogate the foundations of culture, identity, and history within Africa's precolonial and postcolonial reality. Situated within nationalist literature, Camara Laye extols the values of traditional Africa as a means of demonizing and deconstructing colonization, thereby transforming novelistic space into a tool of colonial resistance. The idyllic places depicted in The Dark Child symbolize a harmonious, free, prosperous, and secure ancestral Africa, embodying a memorial utopia. Conversely, the repugnant space in The Suns of Independence criticizes colonization, as well as the institutions and sociopolitical and religious structures primarily of postcolonial Africa through its dystopian setting. Steeped in pessimism, this space depicts the current state of Africa, which is in crisis, ravaged by the absurdity of colonization and injustices. Kourouma establishes a parallel between his characters and their space. The dialectical components of the depicted places reflect the psychological, moral, and economic imbalance of the characters, and a collapse of the social, political, and religious structures of post-independence Africa. Despite depicting contrasting spaces of idealized past and postcolonial crisis respectively, both novels ultimately use spatial representation to advocate for a united, prosperous, and regenerated Africa. &nbsp

Framing the Decision: An Experimental Study on Managerial Judgements Post-Leadership Training

    Get PDF
This study was designed to contribute to the literature on behavioral economics and managerial psychology by investigating the influence of cognitive biases on decision-making processes. The research experimentally examines how managerial investment decisions may vary when identical market information is framed positively or negatively (framing effect). The study involved a total of 45 managers employed at a university. Participants first received a four-hour leadership training and were then randomly divided into two groups. Each group was presented with identical investment content, but framed differently. One group received information emphasizing investment opportunities (positive framing), while the other was exposed to risk- and uncertainty-oriented expressions (negative framing). Participants were asked to respond to the question “Should the company enter the market under these conditions?” with a simple “yes” or “no” and provide a brief justification for their decision. The quantitative findings revealed no statistically significant difference between the positively and negatively framed groups (χ² ≈ 0.045, p > .05). However, content analysis of open-ended responses showed that the underlying arguments were shaped in a frame-sensitive manner. While the positive framing group focused on opportunity-oriented reasoning, the negative framing group emphasized risk avoidance themes. These results are consistent with Tversky and Kahneman’s (1981) prospect theory and Loewenstein’s (2001) risk-as-feelings hypothesis. Furthermore, the leadership training appears to have mitigated the framing effect. The study highlights the impact of cognitive awareness and presentation style on managerial decisions and provides important evidence suggesting that such cognitive biases can be reduced through training
