Public-Private Partnerships and academic freedom in African higher education: A delicate balance
African higher education institutions face severe funding shortages and pressure to align with market demands, leading to the rise of public-private partnerships (PPPs) as alternative solutions. While PPPs can mobilize resources and foster innovation, they raise critical concerns regarding academic freedom, institutional autonomy, and equitable access. This study employs a qualitative comparative case study based on secondary data from policy documents, institutional reports, and academic literature. Three national contexts are analyzed: Morocco’s resource-backed model at Mohammed VI Polytechnic University (UM6P), South Africa’s structured legal framework, and Uganda’s market-driven approach. Findings reveal that well-regulated PPPs, as in Morocco and South Africa, strengthen infrastructure and research capacity while safeguarding academic freedom. In contrast, Uganda’s weaker governance context shows heightened commercial pressures, restricted autonomy, and greater inequities. The study concludes that PPPs in Africa represent a double-edged sword, with their success contingent on governance frameworks that protect academic freedom alongside efficiency
Forecasting Regional Inequality from Time Series Models to Artificial Intelligence-Based Frameworks
This research investigates the performance of the traditional econometric models against the advanced AI-based approaches in forecasting regional inequality in Morocco. Recognizing that regional inequalities evolve in complex, non-linear ways, the research evaluates models for their predictive accuracy and practical applicability in guiding policy. Conventional methods demonstrate reasonable performance, particularly in capturing linear trends. Among them, the AR model achieved the lowest MAPE and RMSE. However, AI-based models—especially LSTM and XGBoost—outperformed traditional techniques. LSTM proved highly effective in capturing both short- and long-term behavior, while XGBoost offered strong accuracy with efficient runtime. Conversely, Support Vector Regression (SVR) underperformed, reflecting its limitations in handling complex patterns. The findings highlight the growing inadequacy of traditional models for forecasting modern inequality dynamics and suggest that advanced AI tools, particularly LSTM, can provide more nuanced and reliable forecasts. These insights support the integration of AI in regional policy planning
L’intention d’achat de l’assurance Takaful : Une revue bibliométrique
This article aims to systematically map and analyze the current state of academic research on the purchase intention of Takaful insurance. It seeks to identify major contributions, uncover dominant schools of thought, analyze the field’s evolving trends, and propose a structured agenda for future research. The methodology relies on a rigorous bibliometric review, combined with qualitative content analysis. A corpus of 45 articles (2012–2024), extracted from the Scopus database, was analyzed using VOSviewer and the Bibliometrix package in R. The study combines performance analyses (sources, authors, countries, citations) and co-occurrence mapping to reveal underlying thematic clusters and their evolution. The analysis highlights six core thematic clusters: (1) psychological and religious factors, (2) brand equity and risk perception, (3) family Takaful core, (4) branding in Gulf markets, (5) adoption by SMEs and microenterprises, and (6) macroeconomic approaches. Theoretically, the Theory of Planned Behavior remains predominant, often hybridized with frameworks such as the Diffusion of Innovation Theory or the UTAUT model. The analysis is limited by the exclusive use of the Scopus database and the selection criteria defined in the initial query. Nonetheless, the findings offer valuable implications for researchers, practitioners, and policymakers, advocating for a deeper integration of behavioral and macroeconomic approaches, a focus on socio-demographic segmentation, and further exploration of digitalization and ESG concerns in the Takaful sector.
Congenital retinal macrovessel associated with pachychoroid disease
Congenital retinal macrovessel (CRM) is a rare vascular abnormality characterized by the presence of a large aberrant retinal vessel crossing the center of the macula, typically associated with a vascular network extending above and below the horizontal raphe. We present imaging findings of a CRM in an asymptomatic patient.
Innovation in clusters : a study by structural determinants
This work aims to present the cluster as a fertile ground for innovation, and for this we will shed light on the structural determinants of an innovative environment based on location theories. In this work we will opt for an approach of the cluster as "innovative environments", where skills training, financing of initiatives, circulation of information, socio-economic animation, basic services to the community takes place. population, territorial synergy, in order to serve the development of innovation

This work mainly aims to highlight the role played by some banks, in this case in supporting and encouraging sustainable projects within the framework of the circular economy, thus achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) by 2030. To do this, we opted for a case study on the BNP Paribas Group, to highlight its pilot experience in bringing this type of sustainable project to fruition. Among the results of this research work: the BNP Paribas Group certainly had a strategic vision in turning towards technological and environmental development, moreover its shift in 2019 towards the circular economy was the result of an imperative change and not an optional change, by opting for contracts with social and environmental characteristics... This strategic change by the group has increased the volume of financing for sustainable projects over the period 2022-2025, with 223 billion euros invested in 2022 and 285 billion euros in 2024, to reach the goal of 300 billion euros in 2025. This diversification of the group's investment portfolio should enable better manage banking risks
spatial-temporal analysis of rainfall and temperature patterns in NCA, Northern Tanzania from 1978 and 2019
Context and background
Changes in precipitation and temperature may imply changes and variability in climate which may cause negative and positive environmental and social-economic impacts even within protected and /or conserved areas. Changes in trends of temperature and precipitation can instigate impacts on a particular environment and subsequently affect lives (biodiversity) and interactions between organisms and their environment (ecosystem). This paper presents a spatial-temporal trend analysis in temperature and rainfall patterns from 1978 to 2019 in Ngorongoro Conservation Area (NCA), northern Tanzania
Goal and Objectives:
This paper presents a spatial-temporal trend analysis in temperature and rainfall patterns from 1978 to 2019 in Ngorongoro Conservation Area (NCA), The findings obtained can be used in understanding the influence of changes in precipitation and temperature on distribution and abundance of biodiversity in the ecosystem; and in development and implementation of appropriate conservation strategies and plans for enhanced management and sustainable conservation
Methodology:
Gridded monthly rainfall and temperature data from TerraClimate (TC) database have been utilized. Modified Mann-Kendal and Thiel-Sen’s slope estimators were used to test the significance and compute magnitude of trend of each variable respectively..
Results:
The results show a significant decreasing trend ( < 0.1) in long-term annual rainfall ranging from −1mm to – 6mm per year. Maximum and minimum temperature indicate a significant increasing trend (p < 0.1) between 0.02 to 0.03°C per year, generally along the South-West and North-East parts of NCA
