Evaluation of 6-Bromo-2-Imino-2H-Chromene-3-Carboxamide as an Efficient Inhibitor for Corrosion of Mild Steel in HCl Solution: Experimental and Theoretical Approaches: A Combined Study of Electrochemical Performance and Molecular Interaction Mechanisms
This study investigated the application of 6-bromo-2-imino-2H-chromene-3-carboxamide (BIHCC) as a corrosion inhibitor of mild steel in a 1 M HCl solution. The inhibition efficiency and adsorption behavior of the compound were studied by means of potentiodynamic polarization, weight loss measurements and density functional theory (DFT) calculations. In experimental conditions, it demonstrates that the best concentration at which BIHCC could achieve a high level of inhibition efficiency of 81.3% was at an optimum level of 0.5 mM. This is due to the formation of protecting film on mild steel surface, thus reducing the corrosion rate. The inhibition efficiency and corrosion resistance increased with increasing BIHCC concentration, indicating that it is very effective at higher concentrations. Temperature effects were also assessed in measure using the weight loss method and found that immediately there was a minor increase of the inhibition efficiency with the increment in temperature meaning that thermal stability was achieved for the adsorbed BIHCC layer. BIHCC adsorption on mild steel gave satisfaction on the Langmuir model of adsorption isotherm. DFT calculations of electronic indices, namely ΔEgap and EHOMO, further established the strong adsorption potential of the inhibitor and its better performance compared to experimental derived values of adsorption free energy (ΔGads). The agreement of experimental results to the theoretical ones confirms the suitability of BIHCC as an effective corrosion inhibitor and a stable alternative for mild steel in acidic environments
Harnessing Biomass Waste for Value-Added Products in Achieving Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs): A Systematic Review of Low-Carbon Transition, Bibliometric, Technical Insights, and Challenges
This study aims to systematically examine the utilization of biomass waste into value-added products in supporting the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), especially in the context of the transition to a low-carbon society and circular economy. The Systematic Literature Review (SLR) method was used. Biomass can be converted into various products such as bioenergy, bioplastics, briquettes, biochar, biofertilizers, and automotive composites. Conversion technologies such as pyrolysis, fermentation, and biorefinery support the principles of circularity and emission mitigation. This study also reveals challenges in technical, social, and policy aspects. The implication is that cross-sector synergy is needed to encourage the utilization of biomass as a strategic solution for sustainable development and to strengthen the green industry in the future
Development of a Carbon Paste Electrode Modified with Urea-Based Polymer for Sensitive Detection of Paracetamol
In this study, a carbon paste electrode modified with a urea-based polymer was developed for the detection of paracetamol. The electrode design and detection parameters were systematically optimized, including pH, accumulation potential, accumulation time, scan rate, and buffer solution. Employing differential pulse voltammetry, a calibration curve was established over a wide concentration range (10⁻⁴ to 10⁻¹⁰ M) .The sensor demonstrated remarkable repeatability, reproducibility, and reliability. Additionally, real-world applicability was confirmed by successfully detecting paracetamol in wastewater samples yielded recovery rates of 95-97.5%, confirming its suitability for real-world scenarios. These findings highlight the potential of the proposed electrode for sensitive and reliable pharmaceutical analysis in complex matrices
ANALYSE DES DETERMINANTS DE L’ABANDON SCOLAIRE EN REPUBLIQUE DU CONGO
The aim of this research is to analyze the determinants of school dropout in the Republic of Congo . To this end, we implemented a logit model using data from the Congolese household survey (ECOM2). The results show that the variables selected have a profound impact on school drop-out. The dropout rate is 99.66%, with 48.35% for boys and 51.65% for girls. Similarly, the study reveals that as the number of active members increases, so does the probability of dropping out of school.

Chemical Profiling, In Silico Modeling, and Antifungal Effects of Lavandula stoechas Essential Oil Against Verticillium dahliae in Olive Cultivation: Chemical Profiling, In Silico Modeling, and Antifungal Effects of Lavandula stoechas Essential Oil
The shift toward sustainable approaches in disease management has led to increased attention on natural substitutes for synthetic fungicides. This study investigated the antifungal potential of essential oil (EO) from a wild Moroccan population of Lavandula stoechas against Verticillium dahliae, the causal agent of Verticillium wilt in olive trees. The EO yield (1.75%) ranked among the highest reported for this species in the Mediterranean region. GC-MS analysis revealed a distinct chemotype dominated by thujone (15.15%), camphor (14.09%), viridiflorene (14.03%), verticiol (12.11%), and 1,8-cineole (11.28%). In vitro bioassays showed a clear dose-dependent inhibition of fungal growth, with complete suppression at 604 ppm. Complementary molecular docking studies identified viridiflorene as the compound with the highest affinity for key fungal virulence proteins including pectinase VdPelB and the effector PevD1, suggesting a primary role in disrupting pathogenicity. These results expand the chemotaxonomic knowledge of L. stoechas and support new avenues for exploring its adaptive traits. Moreover, this work highlights the antifungal potential of this unique Moroccan chemotype and contributes to the valorization of underexplored native aromatic plants in Morocco for agricultural and pharmaceutical applications
