Development of a Cognitive Scale of the Development Support in Childcare and Analysis of Its Individual Factors
Get PDFThe purposes of this study were to develop a Cognitive Scale of the Development Support in Childcare (CSDSC), and to analyze the individual factors. Valid responses were received from 513 nursery teachers in the field of childcare. They were analyzed to examine the structure of factors associated with the scale, and two factors were extracted, Factors I “Recognition of direct and indirect supports in childcare”, and Factors II “Recognition of institutional childcare environment”. The results show that CSDSC had adequate reliability and validity. Cronbach’s α value for the scale was .84, and those for the subscales were .81 and .86. Findings from the statistical analysis suggest that how the association of these factors differs depending on respondent attributes such as age, years of experience, and the type of facility to which they belong.departmental bulletin pape

Aaptocarbamates A-G, chlorinated terpene carbamates with antiosteoclastogenic activities from the marine sponge Aaptos sp.
No full textSix undescribed chlorinated sesquiterpene carbamates, aaptocarbamates A–F, and a chlorinated tris-norsesquiterpene carbamate, aaptocarbamate G, were isolated from the marine sponge Aaptos sp. collected in Indonesia. Aaptocarbamates D–F and G possess tetrahydrofurans and a tetrahydrofuranone, respectively. The relative configurations of the tetrahydrofuran units were determined by the NOE correlations and DFT-based calculation of the 13C chemical shifts. This is the first time that chlorinated terpene carbamates have been reported from natural sources. Various aaptamine derivatives have been reported from the Aaptos sponges so far, the isolation of chlorinated terpene carbamates is very rare. An empirical study of student agency through school-to-school and school-municipality collaboration in curriculum : Maximizing community well-being through inquiry-based “community’s well-being” initiatives
Get PDFStudent agency, the quality and ability for children to autonomously be motivated, think critically, and take responsible actions in their local community, is considered to be a cornerstone in the realization of individual and societal well-being. This research aims to investigate the significance of such an approach by comparing the outcomes of the inquiry-based “community’s well-being” initiatives during language and integrated study classes, conducted for primary 6th-grade students in Kumamoto City, involving their interaction with the local community and municipality to maximize community well-being. By comparing pre- and post-intervention results with a non-participating group, this study attempts to empirically validate the outcomes and reflect upon the implications of these efforts. The results of the statistical analysis show that this initiative, utilizing integrated study classes, positively influenced indices related to community engagement and the value of exchanging opinions with others. However, significant effects were not observed in indicators related to philanthropic attitude, future orientation, and self-efficacy. From these findings, it is concluded that while this initiative contributed to exploring solutions for enhancing community well-being and influencing the valuation of relationships with diverse others, it did not fully realize into implementing community development ideas, thus not leading to a sense of self-efficacy.departmental bulletin pape
