A school nurse's response to COVID-19 pandemic : Insight from a case study of a special support school for intellectual disabilities
We have discussed the response of special support school nurse during the COVID-19 pandemic and have come to the following conclusions. First, in Chapter 1, we saw that teacher Goto worked with colleagues and managers during the school closure period to prepare for the school’s reopening. Additionally, the results of a survey conducted by teacher Goto revealed that children were becoming more irritated and more picky during the school closures. In particular, it was surmised that the special disability characteristics of the special students, combined with the unusual situation of school closures, amplified their frustration and obsession. Next, in Chapter 2, we saw how, from an expert’s point of view, teacher Goto carefully deals with fever in schools for special needs students who have difficulty regulating their body temperature. At the same time, we introduced the disinfection work that was carried out by all the teachers and staff after the students returned from school. It has become clear that the fact that each teacher, who is familiar with children’s disabilities and their lives at school and at home, took the initiative in disinfecting was a remarkable response by the school during the coronavirus situation. Finally, in Chapter 3, we took up the questionnaire survey again and compared the responses during the school closure period and when schools resumed. What we can see from this is that both children and parents were frustrated during the school closures, but once the school closures were lifted and the children returned to school, not only did the children become more energetic, but so did their parents. became. What became clear from this was that the school had become a community (school community).departmental bulletin pape
Health education practice centered on developing children's independence : through the practice of health education classes and child health committee activities
The goal of health education in schools is for students to acquire the qualities and abilities to proactively maintain and improve their physical and mental health. It is necessary for school nurses with specialized knowledge to actively participate in the educational curriculum. On the other hand, it cannot be said that there are many such initiatives in actual schools. We focused on the usefulness of fostering children’s independence. We then decided to consider how health education practices should be carried out as school nurses, based on examples of health education classes centered on fostering children’s independence and activities of child health committees. In a health education class for fifth graders, the students reflected on their own actions during two hours of discussion, and it was possible to see a growing desire to aim for better behavior. In addition, in the activities of the child health committee, which is made up of 5th and 6th grade students, each committee member was able to carry out health awareness activities and hand washing awareness activity plans based on the teacher’s encouragement. Through two practices, we considered the significance of school nurses fostering children’s independence in school education.departmental bulletin pape

The curriculum management, nowadays, is expected in order to improve qualitatively the educational activities at schools. The PDCA cycle is one of the means to attain such goals. In this article, firstly, the manual for teachers to implement a study of educational practice according to the PDCA cycle is introduced. Secondly, issues among the PDCA, OODA, and D-OODA are discussed. Thirdly, the paradigm shifts towards (1) the accountability for school-based curriculum, (2) the development of competencies to create future society, and (3) the cooperation and collaboration to implement cross-curricular approach to develop such competencies, are needed so that each reflective practitioner can share the goals to improve learning of students and one’s own practical teaching skills. Prevention and awareness of sexual problems in junior high school students : The effectiveness of preventive education practices using case studies of troubles via social media
Recently, sexual problems on the Internet, especially through social networking sites (SNS), have increased. SNS is a tool that many people, including students, are familiar with, and the fact that sexual problems occur there means that students are at high risk of getting involved. In this study, we implement an educational practice to prevent sexual problems among junior high school students and evaluate the effectiveness of the practice. The class was organized as follows: first, a general lecture was given on topics related to physical and sexual development, followed by exercise classes for each class. In the exercise class, students were given the opportunity to think about the situation in terms of their own selves by examining specific cases of SNS. Feedback from students after the class was generally positive, and it was clear that many students acquired valuable insights. The results suggest that not only getting knowledge, but also independent-minded learning by students is effective in preventing sexual problems via the Internet.departmental bulletin pape
A Quantitative analysis of compositions written by learners of Japanese as a second language in Taiwan : Use of jWriter
The purpose of this study is to conduct a quantitative analysis of Japanese compositions written by Japanese learners in Taiwan using a automatic evaluation system "jWriter".The following two issues were analyzed.1) To analyze the compositions of the second-year Taiwanese students in the first semester and the second semester and to conduct a quantitative analysis and "visualization" of the changes in their writing. 2) To compare the compositions of Taiwanese second semester Japanese language students with those of Japanese university students, and to grasp the current status of the Japanese writing ability of the Taiwanese students. The results of Analysis 1) The grade on compositions of student significantly increased, due to the increased number of morphemes in a sentence and the increased difficulty of the vocabulary used. The results of analysis 2) suggested that Japanese learners in Taiwan need to further improve the variety of word types and particle words used and to use more verbs in their writing.departmental bulletin pape
