    Get PDF
The purpose of this study was to analyze the application of the gyaku-tsuki punch technique training model to improve physical readiness and character. The design of this study was quasi-experimental in the form of a posttest-only control design. The sample of this study was 56 which was divided into 2 groups, each group consisted of 28 people. Karate is a sport that requires a very good level of physical condition. The data collection method used was a questionnaire to measure character variables and documentation to measure physical readiness. The data analysis used was inferential with MANOVA. The results showed that the gyaku-tsuki punch technique training model has an impact on physical readiness and character both simultaneously and partially, this can be seen from the average value of the group trained with the gyaku-tsuki punch technique training model is greater than the exercise without the gyaku-tsuki punch technique training model. Therefore, it is recommended that this gyaku-tsuki punch technique training model can be used as an alternative to karate training to improve physical readiness and character

The aim of this study was to examine the relationship between occupational injury and AHI adjusted for age, sex and BMI in patients referring to the sleep clinic at Baharloo Hospital, Tehran. The study is practical in purpose and descriptive in experimental methods. Patients with obstructive sleep apnea were divided into her three groups based on the apnea hypopnea index (AHI):  mild: AHI = 14-5, moderate: AHI = 15-29, and severe: AHI ≥ 30. The sample size was set to 259 individuals. Data analysis was performed using SPSS software. The mean body mass index for the sample population is 29.79 with a standard deviation of 5.4. The mean and standard deviation of the ages of the study population are 41.5 and 9.7 years, respectively. Results showed that hypopnea-apnea index and lack of treatment in patients with obstructive sleep apnea were associated with occupational injuries, even after adjusting for the effects of age, gender, and BMI variables

Isolation, characterization and screening of functional properties probiotic candidates for lactic acid bacteria Bali traditional drink wong tea in vitro

    Get PDF
One of the functional foods in Bali, especially in Gianyar Regency, is teh wong (mushroom), which has a sweet-sour taste. The purpose of the study was to determine the characteristics of probiotic candidates isolated from the fermented tea wong drink and to determine the LAB of Teh Wong which could potentially be probiotic candidates. The samples used were 20 lactic acid bacteria (LAB) isolates from wong tea. The process of isolating the LAB candidate used the spread plate method from the fermented liquid of Teh Wong for 7 days. Isolation was carried out after the plates were incubated for 24 hours at 37oC. Colonies suspected of being LAB were then streaked on new De Man, Rogosa and Sharpe (MRS) Agar media to obtain a single colony. The total LAB produced from LAB isolates ranged from 3.0 x 105 cfu/ml to 7.0 x 108 cfu/ml. Of the 20 isolates from gram staining, it was found that the LAB Teh Wong isolate was dominated by rods (bacilli) and only 4 isolates were spherical (coccus)

Introduction: Gender determination in forensic medicine plays an important role in determining the identity which is very important for both the present time and in the future. (Aim)Background: To improve sex determination using skeletal remains, morphometrical study of some bones can be helpful. The aim of this study is to assess the application of five parameters of sacral bone by means of Three – Dimensional (3D) images reconstructed by multi-slice Computed Tomography (CT) in sex determination of Iranian individuals.  Materials and Methods: This cross-sectional study was conducted on one hundred of Iranian people with equal number of men and women who have undergone Pelvic CT in radiology department of Hazrat Rasoul-Akram Hospital were included. Five anthropometric indices including S1 Perimeter, S1 Area, Anterior-posterior diameter (APD), Maximum transverse diameter (MTD) and Maximum breadth of sacral alae (MBA) of their sacral bone were measured using computed tomography (CT) three dimensional images with an accuracy of 0.01º and 0.01 mm and then the association of the measurements with the gender of individuals was studied. Conclusion:  No significant difference was observed between two gender groups in terms of age (P=0.678).&nbsp
