    Get PDF
Wound washing with antiseptic liquid is one step in the management of chronic wounds. In infected wounds, washing with antiseptic is expected to reduce bacterial colonies and help eradicate infection. One of the important pathogenic bacteria is Acinetobacter Baumannii. These opportunistic germs can form colonies, especially in patients receiving broad-spectrum antibiotic therapy, treatment in the ICU, and on skin affected by burns. Antiseptic commonly used to wash wound are Savlon and Povidone-iodine 10%. Both antiseptic are broad spectrum antisepctic, kill gram negative and gram positive bacteria. However Savlon could caused skin irritation. Therefore dilution is needed to prevent this effect. This study was intended to determine the difference and comparison of the effectiveness of Savlon and Povidone iodine antiseptic to bacterial growth on wound infected by Acinetobacter Baumannii.  This study is an experimental study with a randomized controlled trial without blinding. The wound research procedure was made on the right and left sides of the rat's back with a size of 1x1 cm each. Wounds that have been contaminated with Acinetobacter Baumannii are left for 4 hours. After 4 hours the wound will be washed and irrigated. The wound that has been made is closed with a transparent dressing

    Get PDF
To evaluate radiologic findings of portal hypertension at computed tomography (CT) of patients with non-alcoholic fatty liver disease for early diagnosis. Images of 200 cases who underwent non-enhanced abdominal CT were reviewed. The patients with the difference between hepatic and splenic attenuation (CT L-S)> 10 were enrolled in hepatosteatosis group. The remaining formed control group. The relationship between two groups about diameters of portal and splenic veins, craniocaudal (CC) span of liver, splenic index, caudate lobe/right lobe (C/RL) ratio was analyzed statistically by Mann– Whitney U Test and Student’s t-test. Total 200 cases, as hepatosteatosis (n= 120) and control (n= 80) groups, were involved in this study. Liver CC span, splenic index and C/RL ratio between two groups were found to be statistically significant (p< 0.01). The splenic index and C/RL ratio are important findings of portal HT and fibrosis. CT imaging can be beneficial for diagnosis and treatment of NAFLD patients

    Get PDF
The study's objective was to assess the clinical behavior of monolithic zirconia crowns with two different margin designs in terms of fracture during a one-year period. Forty-four posterior endodontically treated molars received full coverage monolithic crowns. The teeth were separated into two groups depending on the margin design: the control group (RS) had a rounded shoulder finish-line while the intervention group (F) had a feather-edge finish-line. An intra-oral scan was used for the full coverage restorations, which were designed using open source software and machined on a 5 axis machine. The crowns were sandblasted and cemented with conventional glass ionomer cement. The modified United States Public Health Service (USPHS) criteria were used to assess clinical behavior in terms of fracture following cementation. The grades were immediately taken after cementation and at three consecutive three-month follow-up assessments over the course of a year. In terms of restoration fractures, all three follow-up examinations yielded a perfect Alpha score of 100 percent for each group. (P<0.05) There was no statistically significant difference between the control (RS) and intervention (F) groups. In this one-year randomized clinical investigation, all of the crowns assessed were clinically successful, with no signs of fractures
