This article was intended to criticise the expert’s claims towards across disciplines who stated the Balinese people were a multicultural society and had been inherited since royal and prehistoric times. Whereas, the multiculturalism was as the main concepts that make up the newly formed multicultural conception of society in the United States in the 1960s. The claim was a historical reality that was not neutral, which was more geared to the present interests, in order to justify the general opinion that stated Balinese people was the most tolerant society in Indonesia. An evening I visited the park and sitting there on the bench I could see my childhood playing. It was an evening so dear to me, the wind teasing my hair, sunshine caressing my skin, lush green grass tickling my soles, my frolic life joyously jumping around, so free, so relieved, how easy everything seemed but one step towards the steep grassy slope seemed like a great leap, cackling laughter slowly changed to screams. How hard I tried to stop my flow of thoughts, but in that never-ending fall childhood growing up, feelings bloomed, a flood of emotions, an upsurge of expectations into disappointments

The Sense of Belonging (SB) is a highlighted concept that has been a subject matter of various social disciplines such as education, geography, psychology, religion, and sociology. It is defined as people’s experience of being involved in a system or environment so that they feel as an integral part of that system or the environment. It can be said that it is a primordial archetypical desire for human beings to develop and maintain a positive, durable, and remarkable interpersonal relationship with other human beings.  Furthermore, it is claimed that the decrease or increase of this sense is correlated with Freud’s concept of Heimlich or unheimlich, which is translated into English as uncanny, the term, which inspired Homi Bhabha to coin his renowned concept of unhomely. Considering the theories and explanations of Baumeister, Goodenow, and Alfred Adler on the concept of “Sense of Belonging” and regarding Homi Bhabha’s concept of unhomeliness, this article portrays the protagonist Hamko’s lack of Sense of Belonging stemmed from his “unhomely” situation due to his having been stateless

The spread of globalization and marketing during the last century triggered the proliferation of advertising genres. The language of advertisement is unique and very persuasive. The goal of advertisements is to persuade consumers to act and think in a textually determined way in order to boost sales of particular commodities and services. In order to capture attention, convey the message and persuade the consumer, advertising texts use a range of manipulative language devices. This study aims at investigating the register of Indonesian advertisements. A register is a variety associated with a particular situation of use. The description of a register covers three major components: the situational context, the linguistic features, and the functional relationships between the first two components. The linguistic features cover the word choice such as the use of noun, pronoun, active, and passive voice, the use of prefix and suffix as well. Register analysis of Indonesian advertising text is still limited and very interesting to analyze. The data were taken from some advertisements, which were published on different mass media such as newspaper, radio, and television. The data were collected through observation and note-taking method. The theory of register from Biber and Conrad (2009) was used to analyze the register of the advertisements. In addition, the theory of corpus linguistics by O’Keeffe (2010) was also used to support the analysis. Results are presented through formal and informal methods. The results show that those advertisements have high register since most of them used formal linguistic features
