Every country has its own culture as a character or a way of life. This character has to be preserved and maintained by every citizen of a country including Indonesia as a big nation which has many cultures and tribes. One of the effort to preserve cultures is spreading information of it to people outside the country using English as an international language. It can be started from college students as youth by teaching them to translate from Indonesian about Javanese culture into English. Every vocational student of Bogor Agricultural University from communication major is expected to master this skill to attract foreigners to come visit the country as tourists. To reach this goal, it is important for them to master translation strategies to avoid mistakes on the meaning of words or context. There are some strategies that can be applied in translation to deliver messages from source language into target language. They need to practice these strategies to know which strategies produce the equivalent meaning of target language to source language. However, they get cultural materials but they do not get translation materials. On the other hand, the other group of students majoring environmental management does not get cultural materials but they get translation materials in their English subject that they take. Thus, this research tries to answer the strategies that are commonly used by vocational students of Bogor Agricultural University from two majors in translating a cultural text based on the perspective of Vinay and Darbelnet. The method used in this research was a qualitative descriptive methodology which tries to reveal the most common translation strategy used by vocational students in Bogor Agricultural University and the difference between the two group of students. The most common strategy used by vocational students in translating cultural text is borrowing

The impact of green revolution movement towards socio-economic life in the countryside
The green revolution became an icon in agricultural development in Indonesia in the early seventies to eighty. It was regarded as a savior for the agricultural sector, especially in developing countries characterized by low productivity, long plant duration, low growth, and minimal farmer's welfare. Without the green revolution, it was hard to imagine how agricultural production would have been able to feed the growing population. A prominent feature of the green revolution was the use of superior varieties included PB 5, PB 8, IR 36, IR 48, IR 54, substituted the local seeds i.e. Bengawan, Rajalele, Cianjur, Mentik that have transformed their traditional cultivation systems into the modern farming systems which marginalize a local wisdom. In terms of this has led to socio-economic changes in the rural level, especially to the functions of traditional farming tools unlike ani-ani, granaries, pestle, plow, replaced by slash, tractor and huller systems
The use of language elements in the creation of coherences in discourse
Good discourse has a coherence that binds statements involved in it based on logical thinking. In a coherent discourse, the reader finds the order thoughts which is clearly the tip of the base as a form of the regular mode of thinking of the author. Coherence is the final character of writing that reflects the perfection of the author in controlling his or her way of thinking in order to realize a discourse. Coherence in discourse can be seen primarily as the sentences involved in it are intertwined each other and the ideas flow smoothly. One sentence relation to another sentence or the smooth movement of ideas in discourse is formed by the use of certain language elements as a grammatical form that embodies the cohesiveness of a discourse. The language elements, in this case, are transitional words/phrases, pronouns, and repetitions of keywords. The use of these elements is quite important in constructing sentences that mesh and flow logically in a discourse. It also happens between a paragraph one and another paragraph in a discourse, the elements of language is a bridge that is vital for the transition of thoughts or ideas in a writer's writings

Application of principles of testing: A study in the context of third year engineering graduates
Language testing has been an elemental part of the teaching- learning the process, though views on language testing have always been changing. This paper presents the various components required to construct and use a language test. It primarily aims at highlighting the importance of validity, reliability, and washback and focuses if a test paper is valid, reliable and has a washback effect. A test should measure what it intends to measure and for this validity, of a test is an essential component. Reliability of a test refers to how a test should be measured and is also concerned with the consistency of scoring and the accuracy of the organization of the test, hence reliability also is an important factor for a test. Further, any item should ideally have a positive washback effect i.e., the test must have a beneficial effect. Any test setter has to consider these three qualities of a test discussed above. The paper aims at highlighting about these important aspects of test i.e. validity, reliability and washback and elucidates how these three aspects could be integrated into testing writing skills

The affix me-/-kan and me(n)-/-kan in the presidential candidates’ debate texts in 2014 – 2019: morphology observation on derivation and inflection
The affix me-/-kan, me (N)- and -kan have a tendency to form classes of verbs. The process of forming verbs can be constructed from nouns, adjectives, and adverbs. Moreover, there are also verbs which do not change the class, although it has experienced the process of affixation. These phenomena are known as derivation and inflection. Derivation system and status change of these verbs applied to the debate text of RI presidential candidates in the period of 2014 to 2015. The study aims to describe the derivation and inflection system in the candidates’ debate texts. The concept of derivation and inflection is formed based on several criteria, such as class or status and acceptance in the clause. The data analysis only focuses on the candidates’ debate texts. The data were collected by writing the text documents for patterning and sorting. The result of the research on the candidates’ debate texts is that a derivation process occurs in class N ? V, A ? V, and Adv ? V. Moreover, inflection does not change the class of verb, such as V ? V. However, in a different view, the change of V ? V can be considered as derivation, on the basis that it can change the semantics and clause. Therefore, it is hoped this research can describe the construction of derivation and inflection
