In a context of rapid industrial transformation and growing sustainability demands, Industry 4.0 has emerged as a key technological paradigm for the textile sector, historically characterized by labor intensity and low digitalization. Despite its potential for automation, flexibility, and traceability, adoption remains partial and uneven. This study addresses a major gap in the literature by providing a systematic and longitudinal mapping of the barriers to Industry 4.0 adoption in the global textile industry.
Using a quantitative bibliometric approach, 150 Scopus-indexed articles (2013–2025) were analyzed with Bibliometrix (R), Biblioshiny, and VOSviewer. The study combines performance analyses (output, citations, H-index) with structural analyses (co-occurrence, co-citation, and bibliographic coupling) to identify the field’s main themes, key contributors, and persistent barriers.
The results indicate an average annual growth rate of 24.6% and reveal four thematic clusters: (1) intelligent production technologies, (2) sustainability and circularity, (3) organizational adoption models, and (4) innovations in smart and functional textiles. The main obstacles are interconnected: high investment costs, lack of data science skills, limited interoperability, cybersecurity risks, and socio-technical resistance. The analysis also highlights geographic asymmetries, as Southern countries often produce knowledge that remains under-cited. Artificial intelligence emerges as a transversal enabler applied to predictive maintenance, simulation, automation, and adaptive management.
Overall, this study calls for a systemic reassessment of the barriers to adoption, integrating human, technical, and institutional dimensions. It offers a structured framework to guide the textile industry’s transition toward a smarter, more sustainable, and resilient model.

This study analyzes the determinants of decision-making autonomy granted to subsidiaries of hypo-groups by applying socio-emotional selectivity theory to examine how managers structure their preferences and trade-offs within a perceived time horizon. The survey is based on a sample of 246 managers from Moroccan subsidiaries, who were interviewed using a 5-point Likert scale questionnaire. The data were analyzed using multiple regression, which allowed for the simultaneous assessment of the impact of socio-emotional dimensions on decision-making autonomy. The results show that socio-emotional orientation and perceived time horizon significantly influence the decision-making discretion granted. They also indicate that these individual factors interact with subsidiary characteristics to shape governance practices. The study provides a theoretical contribution by emphasizing that decision-making autonomy is not solely a result of organizational parameters but also of the socio-emotional motivations of managers. It also offers an empirical contribution by validating these effects through statistical analyses, as well as a methodological contribution by using a standardized and replicable measurement framework. Overall, it renews the understanding of hypo-group governance by demonstrating that decision-making autonomy results from the interplay between relational factors and socio-emotional preferences within a time horizon perceived by the managers of hypo-group subsidiaries.

Investigating Maritime Ports’ Operational Performance Determinants: An Empirical Study of Operational Delays and Moroccan Container Terminal Productivity
This study investigates how operational delays influence container terminal productivity by quantifying their effect on Gross Crane Productivity (GCP) at Moroccan container terminals. Based on six months of calls data (April–September 2025), we used a simple linear regression based on a sample of 422 observations. The distribution of GCP shows a slight right skew, with a stable operating range of 28–35 moves per crane-hour, whereas delays are heavily right-skewed, mostly under 10 minutes with occasional long outliers. Ordinary Least Squares results reveal a significant negative association between delays and GCP (β = −0.46, p < 0.001), indicating that each additional minute of delay lowers productivity by about 0.46 moves per hour, delays account for roughly 20% of the variance in GCP (R² = 0.20). LOWESS analysis highlights a tolerance threshold near 10 minutes, after which productivity drops sharply due to congestion propagation and loss of synchronization between quay and yard operations. Over the study period, cumulative delays decreased by nearly half while average GCP improved by approximately 25%, suggesting learning effects, better planning, and enhanced coordination. Overall, the findings show how micro-level time losses affect terminal productivity and connect directly to the smart-port agenda, emphasizing that automation and digital connectivity yield the greatest benefits when supported by integrated scheduling and strong organizational readiness. The study recommends the development of predictive delay analytics (e.g., AIS combined with machine learning) and real-time, integrated equipment scheduling as key levers to sustain both operational efficiency and environmental performance.

In the context of public administration transformation, Morocco has progressively incorporated the principles of New Public Management (NPM) into the governance of its institutions, notably through the General Directorate of Taxes (DGI). This article offers an empirical analysis of the determinants of NPM appropriation by the DGI, examining the organizational, institutional, and human factors that influence the effective implementation of performance, efficiency, and managerial governance logic. The objective is to identify the key explanatory variables underpinning adherence to NPM, while also assessing the gaps between the promoted principles and the practices actually observed.
Based on a survey conducted among 346 users of the tax administration, the findings highlight that the successful integration of NPM relies on several levers: managerial autonomy, clarity of strategic objectives, the quality of continuous training, and the pre-existing organizational culture. The most significant obstacles are found in the persistence of bureaucratic practices, the limited involvement of staff in defining performance indicators, and the lack of systematic feedback on results achieved. The article concludes by underscoring the need to design context-sensitive managerial reforms, taking into account internal dynamics, actor logic, and incentive mechanisms.

Due to their scale and the diversity of economic, social, political, and cultural issues they raise, sporting mega-events are attracting growing interest in scientific research. This literature review takes a critical and integrative approach to better understand the complex effects of these events. It analyzes the expected positive spin-offs as well as the numerous reservations highlighted in the literature, particularly those concerning profitability, social inequalities, governance, and sustainability. The central question is: To what extent can sports mega-events promote a country's development and increase its visibility and influence on the international stage?
To address this issue, the analysis draws on studies by researchers in various fields and on Morocco's preparations to host the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations and the 2030 FIFA World Cup. These events provide a unique opportunity to examine infrastructure, public management, sports diplomacy, and economic and symbolic spinoffs.
This analysis aims to provide researchers, public decision-makers, and stakeholders involved in organizing these events with an analytical framework based on a rigorous summary of existing scientific publications combined with a critical reading of the Moroccan experience.
Classification JEL: Z20

Operational Risk Management in Participatory Banks: Mapping Challenges and Identification under Prudential Requirements – This doctoral research investigates how Islamic “participatory” banks identify and manage operational risk within the prudential framework of the Basel Accords. The study follows an exploratory qualitative approach, based on semi-structured interviews with industry professionals in Morocco. In the theoretical section, we clarify the concepts of participatory banking and operational risk, then review key explanatory theories and existing academic literature on the topic. The empirical section presents a case study, including a mapping of operational risk incidents in a Moroccan participatory bank, followed by an analysis of that bank’s risk management and monitoring practices. The findings reveal a concentration of incidents in certain critical categories – notably Shariah non-compliance risk and process failures in financing – which highlights specific organizational weaknesses. These results suggest that despite adopting regulatory frameworks (e.g. the Basel II standard approach), participatory banks face gaps in effectively implementing risk identification and oversight processes. The thesis recommends strengthening internal controls and staff training, improving dedicated technological tools, and fostering a strong risk culture within these banks to better anticipate and mitigate operational risks. By helping to fill the research gap on operational risk in Islamic finance, this work offers insights for a more proactive and context-sensitive management of such risks.
Paper type: Practical research

The impact of macroeconomic conditions on credit risk in the Moroccan banking system: empirical evidence from the ARDL model and the Toda-Yamamoto test
This study investigates the impact of macroeconomic conditions on credit risk in the Moroccan banking sector, covering the period from the first quarter of 2009 to the first quarter of 2020. The research employs the Autoregressive Distributed Lag (ARDL) method to effectively assess both the short-term and long-term effects of various explanatory variables on the dependent variable. In addition, the Toda-Yamamoto causality test is utilized to identify which key macroeconomic variables drive credit risk.
The ARDL findings indicate that, in the short term, real GDP, inflation, and the exchange rate have a statistically significant negative impact on the rate of non-performing loans. This result aligns with theoretical expectations. In the long term, however, the unemployment rate shows a positive and statistically significant effect on the credit risk indicator, particularly the non-performing loan rate. Furthermore, a decline in the value of a currency appears to negatively affect the credit risk proxy. The results from the Toda-Yamamoto test reveal that interest rates, the unemployment rate, and currency exchange rates significantly influence the ratio of non-performing loans. These findings corroborate the assertion that banking and financial upheavals are manifestations of economic instability.
