Couples travelers grow exponentially and tend to visit more exotic destinations. Yet, the existing literature has largely concentrated its investigation on the context of Western destinations. A better understanding of couples travelers' hotel satisfaction in the Southeast Asia context would help scholars to understand a holistic picture of couples travelers’ hotel satisfaction and assist hoteliers to prepare their hotels to welcome and serve such guests. This study extends the existing hospitality literature by investigating and identifying the attributes of couples travelers’ hotel satisfaction in Thailand. A total of 695 couples-travelers feedback on the TripAdvisor website were reviewed and content analyzed. Our study indicates that couples travelers’ hotel satisfaction is determined by 10 common themes and two new emerging themes. Among these themes, staff attitude was found as the most important attribute while privacy was noted as the least important attribute to generating couples-travelers’ hotel satisfaction. Not applicabl

    Get PDF
This research aimed to find the effect of initial concentration and hydraulic retention time (HRT) on modified septic tank (MST) performance in treating wastewater from an office building. The synthetic wastewater used had an average COD:TN:TP ratio of 84:28:1, adjusted to office building wastewater characteristics. The experiment was executed under steady conditions using three variations of HRT (12, 24, and 36 hours) and different initial concentrations of COD (106, 252 and 432 mg COD/L), TN (35, 85 and 146 mg N/L) and TP (1.26, 3 and 5.14 mg P/L). The result showed that the MST removed 82% to 92% of COD, 41% to 60% of TN, 45% to 61% of NH4, and 39% to 55% of TP. The maximum removal was achieved at 36 h of HRT, COD:TN (3:1), and COD:TP (84:1). One-way ANOVA showed that the initial concentration and HRT had significant effects on the performance of MST (p < 0.05). This suggests that appropriate control of the initial concentration and HRT in the MST can effectively remove organics and nutrients from office building wastewater

    Get PDF
Fused deposition modeling (FDM) is a technology with potential benefits such as material versatility, user-friendliness, and cost-effectiveness. However, the mechanical properties of FDM-printed specimens are relatively low. To address this issue, post-processing techniques such as shot peening can be employed. Shot peening is utilized as a post-treatment for metal-based and ABS materials, but its application to PLA material has not been explored yet. This study aimed to evaluate the effect of shot peening on the mechanical properties of FDM-printed PLA samples. A full factorial experimental design was employed with shot peening speed, duration, and number of outer shells as parameters. The tensile strength of 72 samples after the shot peening process was measured and evaluated. Analysis of variance (ANOVA) revealed that all parameters had a significant influence on tensile strength. Additionally, the interaction of speed*time and speed*number of shells also had a significant influence. Meanwhile, the interaction of time*number of shells and speed*time*number of shells had no significant influence. The findings of this study demonstrate the potential of post-processing techniques to enhance the mechanical strength of FDM components, particularly those composed of PLA material

    Get PDF
Microplastic removal from stormwater runoff from roads is necessary to reduce the effect of microplastic pollution in water bodies. Bioretention is a potential technology to remove microplastics in stormwater runoff from roads. A lab-scale experiment was conducted to determine the efficiency, effect on vegetation and discharge variation, and the kinetics of microplastic removal from stormwater runoff from roads using a bioretention cell. The experiment was done using an artificial sample based on visual characterization of stormwater runoff from highways, commercial, and residential roads. The vegetations that were examined were Vetivera sp. and Hibiscus sp. The operational discharge was varied based on rainfall intensity categories. The result showed that the removal efficiency was in the range of 92.4 to 99.3% with a mean of 97.2%. Statistical analysis (α = 5%) showed that variation in vegetation and discharge had no significant effect on microplastic removal using bioretention. The first-order kinetic analysis showed that the kinetic removal constant of the bioretention with Vetivera sp., bioretention with Hibiscus sp., and bioretention without vegetation was 0.0356, 0.034, and 0.0327, respectively. These results indicate that bioretention with Hibiscus sp. removed more microplastics at greater depths than with Vetivera sp

Dynamical Behaviour of Pro- and Anti-Inflammatory Cytokines during Pathogenesis of Atherosclerosis

    Get PDF
The role of anti-cytokines in atherosclerosis is to reduce inflammation in the intima. In some situations, certain anti-inflammatory cytokines like TGF-beta and IL-6 have shown the characteristics like a pro-inflammatory cytokines, which are showing different natures. In this study, a dynamical atherosclerosis model is proposed in the form of reaction-diffusion equation with consideration of immune cells, pro-inflammatory cytokines, and anti-inflammatory cytokines. The existence and uniqueness of the solutions are discussed for the proposed reaction dynamical system. The three equilibrium points, non-inflammatory, chronic, and coexistence, and their local stability are also determined for the model. Bellman and Cooke’s theorem is applied to illustrate the global stability at the coexistence equilibrium point. The effects of pro- and anti-inflammatory cytokines have also been discussed. The analytical and numerical studies evidently indicate that inflammation behaves differently when a certain number of anti-inflammatory cytokines behave like pro-inflammatory cytokines. The numerical simulations are demonstrated for different impacts of the reduction rate of macrophages due to the presence of anti-inflammatory cytokines, inhibition time, and the portion of anti-inflammatory cytokines behaving like pro-inflammatory cytokines through graphically. The results of this study suggest that chronic inflammation of the disease is likely to persist when a high concentration of ox-LDL and moderate concentration of cytokines are present in the intima. Coexistence inflammation is characterized by a high concentration of ox-LDL, moderate concentration of pro-inflammatory and high concentration of anti-cytokines; whereas a non-inflammatory condition would persevere if a low concentration of ox-LDL has been present in the intima

    Get PDF
Boardgame is one form of game that is presently popular. The development of board games is also interesting from board games which were originally just paper and boards, now they are starting to penetrate the digital world. Starting from board games that are present digitally, implementing a hybrid concept between physical and digital, to those that use the latest technology. The addition of digital tools or applications to board games seeks to enhance the playing experience by making games more exciting, fascinating and interactive. With the presence of digital media in a board game, digital media interventions such as the use of audio, video, or even interactive displays are conceivable. In addition to serving as a form of diversion, board games can also serve as an educational tool. With board games as an educational medium, tedious learning can become more enjoyable. Boardgames as learning media are not new; there are already quite a few boardgame titles that contain science and soft skills-related learning content. Students must possess four competencies in the 21st century: critical thinking and problem solving, creativity, communication skills, and problem-solving skills through collaboration. During the pandemic, many online students encountered difficulties collaborating with their classmates. There is a need for learning materials that facilitate student collaboration, and board games are one such medium. Collaboration is nothing new in the realm of collaborative education; it has become an integral part of the existing educational structure. Collaboration is an integral element of the current education system in Indonesia, which emphasises character education, and is even included in the Pancasila student profile. Based on this phenomenon and aided by a review of the relevant literature, research was conducted to determine how board games with digital media are utilised as collaborative learning media for children. It is necessary to dissect the design and concept of a board game to determine how they affect the player's experience. Based on this experience, additional research was conducted to determine what children can learn from board games with digital applications.
