Homestay Service for Tourist Satisfaction in Rural Areas
Homestay services are less well-known than hotel services for tourism. However, homestay is an important aspect of tourism, not just as lodging but as a travel attraction. This study examines the influence of the homestay experience on tourist satisfaction and its significance within the context of the tourism industry. The homestay experience was examined using 244 survey questionnaires. This study demonstrated that homestay experience affects destination satisfaction and behavioural intention. Homestay services are a destination attraction because tourists want to experience the destination's traditional culture. To increase destination satisfaction, include local cultural activities in the accommodation service. Therefore, this study has the potential to improve our knowledge of the hospitality sector broadly
Tantalizing Flavors of Sri Lanka: Unraveling Tourist Perceptions of Sri Lankan Food Culture
This research paper explores the perception of tourists regarding Sri Lankan food and its potential for culinary tourism. Sri Lanka, known for its unique flavors and culinary traditions, has a rich gastronomy that remains largely untapped in terms of culinary tourism. The study aims to gain insights into tourists' experiences, preferences, and overall perceptions of Sri Lankan cuisine. The literature review examines the importance of food flavor in shaping tourist satisfaction and its role in gastro tourism worldwide. It also explores the fusion of tradition and gastro tourism in different countries and perceptions towards traditional food experiences. Tourists' expectations and the overall culinary experience are also discussed, highlighting the significance of food in shaping their perception of a destination. The study adopted a qualitative approach and word cloud and thematic analysis were conducted in data analysis. The findings reveal tourists' perceptions of Sri Lankan food, emphasizing its flavors, authenticity, and ability to surpass expectations. Based on these perceptions, recommendations are provided to promote and enhance the gastronomic offerings of Sri Lanka, including culinary promotions, preservation of authenticity, and collaborative partnerships. The conclusion summarizes the themes that emerged from the study and emphasizes the importance of understanding tourists' perceptions to promote culinary tourism and enhance visitor experiences in Sri Lanka. Overall, this research contributes valuable insights to the development of culinary tourism in Sri Lanka and showcases the potential of Sri Lankan cuisine as a captivating and immersive culinary experience for tourists.
Blood Glucose Control on Diabetic Patient Type I using Sliding Mode Adaptive Control
Diabetes is a metabolic disorder due to insufficient insulin synthesis or inadequate insulin sensitivity. The Bergman’s minimal model describes the dynamics of blood glucose levels in type 1 diabetics. The model has control inputs in the form of insulin injections and covers external disturbance factors in the form of meal disturbances. This research developed a control design using an sliding mode adaptive control to reduce blood glucose levels in hyperglycemic patients and keep it within normal glucose levels. Sliding mode adaptive control is an adaptive controller updates the model based on measured performance while in operation. A numerical simulation of the proposed controller is carried out by giving eating disorders three times, namely at breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Based on the numerical simulation, to lower the high blood glucose in the hyperglicemic patient, the insulin injection should be given starting at 30 minutes before breakfast for the next four hour, with a maximal dose of injection is 13 mU/min. It can decrease the high blood pressure until 54.83%
Analysis of Stability, Sensitivity Index and Hopf Bifurcation of Eco-Epidemiological SIR Model under Pesticide Application
In this paper, a deterministic SIR plant mathematical model is proposed and analysed with the application of pesticides as a control measure. The primary purpose of this model is to study the role of pesticides in controlling disease prevalence in plant populations. The total plant population is subdivided into three categories: susceptible, infected, and recovered. Pesticides are considered to be applied to both susceptible and infected populations to prevent the spread of infection to unaffected plant populations. It is considered that plant populations can be recovered only through the use of pesticides. To ensure the biological validity and well-defined nature of the model, the positivity, boundedness, uniqueness and existence of solutions are analysed. The basic reproduction number (R0) of the infection is determined and observed that the disease-free equilibrium state is locally asymptotically stable whenever (R0) is less than unity and unstable otherwise. The sensitivity analysis of the basic reproduction number is carried out, and it is observed that the value of R0 decreases as the value of the death rate and the recovery rate of plants increases. Moreover, it is revealed that above a critical parameter value of the infective induce rate, the population starts oscillating periodically, and the endemic equilibrium state becomes unstable. Finally, numerical simulations are conducted in MATLAB software to compare the analytical findings. Overall, the results obtained from this analysis are both novel and significant, making them an intriguing and potentially valuable contribution to the field of theoretical ecology
An Evaluation of Stevia rebaudiana Leaf-Axillary Shoot Formation, Cultured in MS Medium Supplemented with IAA-BAP and MS Medium Supplemented with Kinetin
Stevia rebaudiana leaves can be used as a sweetener alternatives because they contain steviol glycoside derivative compounds, including steviosides and rebaudioside-A. Propagation of Stevia is more optimally carried out using in vitro culture when compared to conventional propagation through seeds or cuttings. This study aimed to evaluate the formation and growth of Stevia shoots and leaves in MS medium containing a mixture of IAA and BAP with MS medium containing kinetin only, as well as evaluating the use of a liquid medium containing kinetin. Stevia was initiated from apical shoot then grown in MS medium containing a mixture of IAA and BAP with MS medium containing kinetin only. Stevia was subcultured every 4 weeks. Several parameters measured were number of axillary shoots and number of leaves. It was transferred into a liquid medium for 7 days. The results showed that the formation and growth of axillary buds and leaves at the initiation stage were better in medium containing IAA and BAP compared to medium containing single hormone kinetin. At the stage of shoot multiplication and maintenance, cultivation in semi-solid medium containing kinetin showed more leaves and axillary shoots compared to that cultivated in semi-solid medium with the addition of IAA and BAP. Plants acclimatized in liquid medium supplemented with 1 ppm kinetin showed fast plant growth but were not accompanied by sturdy stem growth. The presence of brownish color on certain parts of the plant such as in some leaves and stems was also observed.
A Decoupling Technique for Beamforming Antenna Arrays Using Simple Guard Trace Structures
This paper discusses decoupling techniques for suppressing electromagnetic coupling between elements of beamforming antenna arrays. Guard trace structures, which are commonly used for crosstalk reduction on printed circuit board technology, are proposed to be inserted between the array elements for coupling reduction. Two types of guard trace structures, i.e., straight guard traces and serpentine guard traces, were explored, and the effect of using via holes on both types of guard traces was studied. For this purpose, two-element antenna arrays with guard trace structures inserted between array elements were designed and simulated. The simulation results showed that a straight guard trace with vias (straight GTV) and a serpentine guard trace without vias (serpentine GT) could effectively reduce EM coupling between elements of array antennas. To verify the simulation results, prototypes of antenna arrays with straight GTV and serpentine GT were realized and measured. The measurement results showed coupling reductions of 5 dB and 6.4 dB could be achieved when straight GTV and serpentine GT are inserted between two array elements separated by edge-to-edge distances of 4 mm and 9.05 mm, respectively. Therefore, the proposed decoupling technique is suitable for beamforming antenna arrays with a very close distance between array elements
Leveraging Data Management Capabilities for Innovation Capabilities: The Moderating Role of Cross-Functional Integration
In today’s dynamic and competitive business environment, data are crucial for sustaining a competitive advantage. Organizations are also constantly seeking ways to enhance their innovation capabilities in order to stay ahead of the competition. One critical factor that has been identified as influential in enabling innovation are the organization’s data management capabilities. Past studies have found that cross-functional integration may enhance the impact of data management on innovation. Hence, this study aimed to investigate the influence of data management capabilities on explorative and exploitative innovation by considering the role of cross-functional integration as a moderating variable. This study used 116 data samples from medium and large companies across different industries in Indonesia. The PLS-SEM analysis was applied to test the research hypotheses. The results indicate that data management capabilities as a third-order construct, consisting of three dimensions, namely data governance, technology, and skills, have significant direct influences on explorative and exploitative innovation. This study demonstrated that cross-functional integration still plays an important role in amplifying the relationship between data management capabilities and innovation capabilities, especially in relation to explorative innovation
Evaluasi Shear Strength dan Stress History Tanah Lunak pada Pekerjaan Vacuum Preloading Menggunakan Uji CPTu
Makalah berikut menyajikan evaluasi nilai shear strength dan stress history tanah lunak menggunakan CPTu. Lokasi penelitian berada di Kosambi Tangerang, pada tanah Jakarta marine clay. Pada area penelitian dilakukan pematangan lahan menggunakan prefabricated vertical drain (PVD) yang dikombinasikan dengan vacuum preloading sebesar 80 kPa. Dalam penelitian ini disebut metode konsolidasi vakum. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengukur efektifitas pekerjaan konsolidasi metode vacuum preloading. Metode pengukuran efektivitas konsolidasi vakum menggunakan evaluasi nilai shear strength dan stress history dari CPTu. Hasil analisis dapat menunjukkan beban vacuum preloading yang diterima di setiap lapisan tanah. Besar derajat konsolidasi menggunakan analisis settlement plate tidak selalu mencerminkan besar peningkatan nilai kuat geser tanah. Nilai derajat konsolidasi tanah pada vacuum preloading lebih mendekati kondisi aktual jika menggunakan acuan peningkatan kuat geser tanah daripada hasil analisis settlement plate. Tanah Jakarta marine clay memiliki nilai α berkisar 2.5 dan nilai Ch mendekati nilai Cv.
The following paper shows an evaluation of the shear strength and stress history values of soft soils using CPTu. The research location is in Kosambi, Tangerang, on Jakarta marine clay soil. In the research area, ground preparation was carried out using a prefabricated vertical drain (PVD) combined with a vacuum preloading of 80 kPa. In this study it is called vacuum consolidation method. This study aims to measure the effectiveness of consolidation using vacuum consolidation method by using the evaluation of shear strength values and stress history of CPTu. The results of the analysis can show the vacuum preloading load received in each soil layer. The result of consolidation degree using analysis of settlement plate does not always indicate the increase of shear strength in the soil. The value of degree consolidation on the vacuum preloading is closer to the actual condition when using the increasing shear strength compared to the result analysis from the settlement plate. Jakarta marine clay soil has an α value of around 2.5 and the Ch value is close to the Cv value
Analisis Pola Pergerakan ke Universitas dengan Aplikasi GIS Studi Kasus: Institut Teknologi Bandung
Abstrak
Mahasiswa yang menggunakan kendaraan pribadi maupun angkutan umum menyebabkan seringnya terjadi kemacetan pada ruas - ruas jalan menuju kampus, terutama pada jam perkuliahan. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah mengevaluasi pola pergerakan menuju Institut Teknologi Bandung dan mengurangi penggunaan kendaraan pribadi menuju kampus. Penelitian ini dilakukan dengan melakukan analisis matriks asal tujuan dan analisis trayek angkot dengan aplikasi ArcGIS dengan data berdasarkan hasil survey. Mayoritas mahasiswa ITB Ganesha menggunakan Motor, yaitu sebanyak 50,9% mahasiswa. Selain itu didapatkan 21,8% menggunakan ojek online, 10,4% menggunakan mobil, 7,6% mahasiswa menggunakan angkot, 8,9% mahasiswa yang berjalan kaki, dan 0,3% mahasiswa menggunakan sepeda. Untuk kelurahan yang terletak jauh dari ITB Ganesha, mahasiswa cenderung memilih untuk menggunakan kendaraan pribadi seperti motor dan mobil. Sedangkan untuk yang berada di sekitar ITB sendiri memiliki pemilihan moda yang lebih bervariasi seperti dengan berjalan kaki, menggunakan sepeda, angkot, maupun ojek online. Secara keseluruhan, kelurahan yang berada di sekitar ITB memerlukan hanya 1 kali angkot untuk mencapai ITB. Sedangkan kelurahan yang jauh dari ITB memerlukan 2 kali angkot untuk mencapai ITB. Jika mahasiswa memerlukan 2 kali angkot, maka biaya dan waktu tunggu juga akan semakin besar
Socio-Economic Factors and Tourism – Impact Analysis using Indicator Approach
The study uses an indicator approach to assess the socioeconomic impact on tourism in developing countries, using Sri Lanka as a case. Tourism is a flourishing sector in Sri Lanka that was affected by different aspects such as pandemics, terrorism, and economic, social, and political instabilities. Though the effects of these events have been studied separately, studies done to assess the socio-economic impact of tourism in Sri Lanka using an indicator approach are scarce; hence the study aims to fill this prevailing knowledge gap. Based on data availability, the study uses secondary data from Sri Lanka Tourism Development Authority and Central Bank reports of Sri Lanka from 2010 to 2019. The socio-economic impact of tourism is measured using integral indicators calculated using the coefficients and weights of the data collected. The study concludes that tourism in Sri Lanka has had a positive socioeconomic impact and has increased continuously since 2010 except in 2019, due to the aftermath of the Easter Sunday attacks in April 2019. This study indeed provides a stepping stone to study the Sri Lankan Tourism Sector which is currently going through political and economic turmoil
