Development of Non-Intrusive Load Monitoring of Electricity Load Classification with Low-Frequency Sampling Based on Support Vector Machine
Non-intrusive load monitoring (NILM) is a promising approach to provide energy consumption monitoring of electrical appliances and analysis of current and voltage data with less instrumentation. This paper proposes an electrical load classification model using support vector machine (SVM). SVM was chosen to keep the computational cost low and be able to implement an embedded system. The SVM model was utilized to classify the on/off state of air conditioners, light bulbs, other uncategorized electronics, and their combinations. It utilizes low-frequency sampling data captured every minute, or at a 0.0167 Hz rate. Utilization change in active and reactive power was used as a feature in the model training. The optimal kernel for the model was the radial basis function (RBF) kernel with C and gamma values of 88.587 and 2.336 as hyperparameters, producing a highly accurate model. In testing with real-time conditions, the model classified the on/off state of the electrical loads with 0.93 precision, 0.91 recall, and 0.91 f-score. The results of testing proved that the model can be applied in real time with high accuracy and with an acceptable performance in field implementation using an embedded system
CNN Based Covid-19 Detection from Image Processing
Covid-19 is a respirational condition that looks much like pneumonia. It is highly contagious and has many variants with different symptoms. Covid-19 poses the challenge of discovering new testing and detection methods in biomedical science. X-ray images and CT scans provide high-quality and information-rich images. These images can be processed with a convolutional neural network (CNN) to detect diseases such as Covid-19 in the pulmonary system with high accuracy. Deep learning applied to X-ray images can help to develop methods to identify Covid-19 infection. Based on the research problem, this study defined the outcome as reducing the energy costs and expenses of detecting Covid-19 in X-ray images. Analysis of the results was done by comparing a CNN model with a DenseNet model, where the first achieved more accurate performance than the second
The Utility of Decision Tree and Analytics Hierarchy Process in Prioritizing of Social Aid Distribution due to Covid-19 Pandemic in Indonesia
The Indonesian government provided various social assistance programs to local governments during Covid-19. One of the difficulties for the local governments in determining candidates for social aid is ensuring that the number of candidates is in balance with the available quota. Therefore, the local governments must select the most eligible candidates. This study proposes a priority model that can provide recommendations for candidates who meet the criteria for social assistance. The six parameters used in this study were: number of dependents, occupation, income, age, Covid status, and citizen status. The model operates in two stages, namely classification followed by ranking. The classification stage is conducted using a decision tree, while the ranking stage is performed conducted using the Analytical Hierarchy Process (AHP) algorithm. The decision tree separates two classes, namely, eligible and non-eligible. In addition, the classification process is also used to determine the dominant attributes and played a role in the modeling. The proposed model generates a list of the most eligible candidates based on our research. These are sorted by weight from greatest to most eligible using five dominant parameters: number of dependents, income, age, Covid status, and citizen status
A Scoping Review of the Hospitality Industry and Tertiary Partnership to Prepare Work-ready Graduates
This paper is a literature review, aimed to provide a comprehensive understanding of the collaboration between the hospitality higher educational sector and the industry to prepare work-ready graduates. A scoping review of 111 research papers published between April 2000 and September 2021 in reputable hospitality and tourism journals was conducted. Research revealed different perceptions between industry employers, educators, and students about competencies required of entry-level hospitality employees. Previous studies confirmed the positive impact of the industry-university collaboration on enhancing hospitality graduates’ employability. The work-integrated model has been widely implemented to develop hospitality students’ skill sets. Thus, hospitality higher education institutions need to adapt to the constantly changing business environment and present graduates with sufficient industry knowledge and skills. This study adds to the current literature on hospitality competencies expected from tertiary education graduates and highlights the appropriate methods to ensure effective industry-academia partnership. Generally, hospitality students and educators place more value on industry knowledge and technical skills. Hospitality tertiary educators should, thus, seek industry inputs more proactively to redesign their education programs, and industry professionals should engage and offer more support to higher education institutions to raise the quality of potential candidates
The Polarization of Orientation Amongst The Local on Cultural Land Utilization for Ecotourism Development in Ranah Minang Sumatera Barat
The dynamics of problems related to land occupation, ownership of cultural land, and agricultural land in Indonesia, especially in Ranah Minang, West Sumatra, have become so serious they need to be solved first before trying to achieve the ideals of sustainable development. The research methodology used in this study was a phenomenological approach. The data were analyzed through the One Score-One Criterion Scoring System. The mean values obtained for the phenomenon of cultural land-use patterns in the region were very good in many aspects. On the other hand, the dynamics of stakeholder perceptions, motivations, and preferences did not indicate any directional bias or attitudinal scale among actors over the use of cultural land. This would be different if observed in the dynamics of perception and ecotourism motivation by generating inferences of the direction polarization and attitude scale among actors. The strategy for this purpose was to optimize various aspects of land-use patterns for ecotourism development: 1) strengthening the function of cultural lands as precious treasure; 2) creating a communal business field; 3) optimizing the productivity of agricultural commodities as added value for land users; 4) establishing no-building zones in certain strategic areas as well as providing incentives to land users
Urban Transformation and Associated Emerging Urban Forms: An Examination of Physical Density from Planning Interventions Perspective
Rapid urbanization frequently results in unanticipated morphological traits that could have multifaceted consequences, especially in the urban physical transformation of cities in developing countries. This study aimed to examine these spatial transformation events and identify the related emergent urban forms in the morphogenesis of Dire Dawa, Ethiopia from the perspective of plan-led and spontaneous developments. The researchers conducted a thorough on-site investigation to gather the necessary physical information and supplemented it with a desk review and focus group discussion. We utilized the Spacematrix software to examine the data and pinpoint the evolving urban structures from different time periods. Overall, the research demonstrated that point-type low-rise development dominated organically developed sites, whereas plan-driven developments were dominated by block-type low-rise and block-type midrise forms. Furthermore, except for outlying areas, there has been a rising trend in the floor space index and spatial coverage patterns over the course of the city’s morphological eras. This may indicate a growing concern for space efficiency and sustainable development. The density of the street network in organically developed portions, on the other hand, was greater than that in formally planned areas. This shows the relevance of considering the concept behind organic development in planning and designing interventions besides the formal western planning philosophy

Evaluation NO2 Detection Using Low-Cost Folded-Path Photometer
The measurement of nitrogen dioxide (NO2) in industrial and residential areas needs comprehensive and reliable instrumentation providing long-interference-free operation and minimum maintenance and recalibration. Differential optical absorption spectroscopy can be used as a direct measurement technique based on the specific absorption characteristics of NO2 following the Berr-Lambert law. This paper proposes a low-cost folded-path photometer to measure NO2 in the air. Cheap tubular acrylic was used as a detection cell with a 3D printed framework, making it compact, modular, and flexible. Evaluation of this differential optical absorption spectroscope (DOAS) was conducted by instrument test responses using NO2 gas. The estimated LOD was ~1263 ppb using a 2-nm resolution of the spectrometer and a 6-meter detection cell length. Deviation of the DOAS was estimated to be 0.8% at high concentration and 2.85% at low concentration based on the calibrated DOAS. Intercomparison of the results was conducted using two different instruments to evaluate the DOAS’s performance by measuring NO2 from motorcycle emissions, which indicated that there was a good correlation between the results. The coefficient correlation (R) was 0.649 for the DOAS- ASTM D1607 Griesz Saltzmann method pairing and 0.846 for the DOAS- electrochemical gas analyzer pairing
FENOMENA KONSUMERISME BATIK SEBAGAI IDENTITAS, KOMODITAS, DAN GAYA HIDUP: Indonesia
Batik is an Indonesian cultural heritage recognized by UNESCO as an Intangible Cultural Heritage. The development of batik in Indonesia has received government support through initiatives such as intellectual property clinics and collaborations with local governments. Technological advancements have also allowed for the creation of batik motifs through printing techniques. However, these advancements have had an unintended consequence: batik has become entangled with the fast fashion industry. As a result, there has been a shift in the production and consumption of batik, leading to increased demand, impulsive consumption, and rapid changes in batik fashion trends. This, in turn, has had an impact on the traditional high culture associated with batik. Despite these challenges, batik remains a symbol of pride and continues to be popular as a cultural identity among the public.
