Many Indonesian islands lack essential inter-island crossing facilities, posing challenges for small island communities' livelihoods. This study addresses the need for accessible docking facilities in Parit Island, Riau Islands, using a community-based floating dock approach. It is chosen due to relatively high tides conditions onsite. The project began with site-specific metocean analysis and extensive stakeholder consultations, ensuring alignment with community aspirations. Eco-friendly materials like wooden frames and plastic drums were used for simplicity and sustainability in dock construction. Local artisans and laborers were engaged, promoting community involvement and economic empowerment. This paper delves into dock design, stability, piling systems, and accessibility. The completed community-based floating dock enhances local living standards and regional trade. It serves as a model for straightforward infrastructure development in island communities, emphasizing community engagement, environmental responsibility, and socioeconomic progress

Implementation of Non-Uniform F-K and Strict F-K Filter Normalization in Seismic Downhole Processing

In fundamental geophysics, we can understand that if we hit the surface, the body and surface waves propagate into and on the soil or rock. The body waves consist of pressure waves, which are the fastest, and shear waves, which are slower. This phenomenon can be measured using the seismic downhole method to determine the velocity of P and S waves of soil layers by generating source energy at the surface and calculating the arrival time at a tri-axial sensor inside a borehole. Determining the arrival time of S waves is often tricky because the recorded S wave arrival is on the coda of the P waves and is also distracted by measurement noise. A common method to separate P and S waves is direct F-K filtering from the F-K image of the measurement data. This study modified this method by adjusting the actual source-receiver distance by implementing a non-uniform F-K transform to produce the correct velocity response. Another improvement was strict filter normalization to regain continuity, thus preventing a shadow response in the F-K image. Synthetic and real measurement data showed that our modification performed better than direct FK-filtering

saLFIA: Semi-automatic Live Feeds Image Annotation Tool for Vehicle Classification Dataset

    Get PDF
Deep learning’s reliance on abundant data with accurate annotations presents a significant drawback, as developing datasets is often time-consuming and costly for specific problems. To address this drawback, we propose a semi-automatic live-feed image annotation tool called saLFIA. Our case study utilized CCTV data from Indonesia’s toll roads as one of the sources for live-feed images. The primary contribution of saLFIA is a labeling tool designed to generate new datasets from public source images, focusing on vehicle classification using YOLOv3 and SSD algorithms. The evaluation results indicated that SSD achieved higher accuracy with fewer initial images, while YOLOv3 reached maximum accuracy with larger initial datasets, resulting in 8 misdetections out of 380 objects. The saLFIA tool simplifies the annotation process, presenting a labeling tool for creating annotated datasets in a single operation. saLFIA is available at URL https://github.com/gilangmantara/salfia

This study investigated the elements affecting job satisfaction and employee loyalty among employees from Generations X, Y, and Z in Bangkok's hospitality sector. These generational cohorts are projected to form a substantial portion of the labor force by 2025, each of which brings distinct work-related perspectives. This study aimed to identify the crucial factors influencing loyalty to enhance employee retention in the hotel and restaurant industries. Using Herzberg's Two-Factor Theory as a conceptual framework, data were gathered from 565 workers through a survey. The findings revealed that employee training, compensation, teamwork, and work-life balance had significant positive effects on job satisfaction, while employee empowerment did not show a substantial impact. Job satisfaction significantly influences employee loyalty. The results varied across generations: Generation Z valued teamwork and work-life balance significantly, with training showing marginal importance. For Generation Y, all four factors - training, compensation, teamwork, and work-life balance–were significant. Generation X prioritized work-life balance and compensation. These insights can benefit hospitality businesses by helping them develop targeted strategies for retaining employees and reducing turnover, potentially leading to enhanced productivity and financial performance. Moreover, this study offers valuable information about the motivations and preferences of the younger workforce generations, which can inform human resource management practices and policies in the industry
