    No full text
This study is intended to analyze the need for e-LKPD development based on the preview, question, read, reflect, recite, and review (PQ4R) to improve students' HOTS. There are three syntaxes of 3-stage levels of high order thinking skills recommended by Bloom's taxonomy. It consists of analyzing, evaluating, and creating. The type of this research is a descriptive qualitative study analysis based on a literature review of e-LKPD and equipped with the PQ4R strategy as an effort to increase the HOTS of students. The research subjects were educators and fourth-grade students of SD Negeri 1 Purwosari, Padangratu Sub-District, Central Lampung. The research objects are HOTS, PQ4R, and e-LKPD. The data collection instrument used interview guidelines, questionnaires, and tests. The cause of the low HOTS of students is the inadequacy of teaching materials and learning strategies used in training HOTS abilities. The results of the study found that educators had not fully used e-LKPD teaching materials. Educational units also require learning strategies that can increase HOTS. PQ4R is one of the learning strategies that can be applied as a solution to increase students' HOTS. Educators need e-LKPD that contains PQ4R learning strategies that are following the characteristics of students. Thus, it can be concluded that the PQ4R-based e-LKPD to improve the HOTS of students in primary schools needs to be developed

The effect of differentiated instruction on academic achievement of grade eleven students in the field of derivative in Bhutan

    No full text
Given the increasing diversity of students academically and culturally, educators are being called upon to accommodate students' diverse learning requirements through differentiated instruction strategies. In Bhutan, the Ministry of Education recently mandated the implementation of a differentiated instruction strategy in the K-12 curriculum. From this perspective, this study attempted to ascertain the effect of differentiated strategies on grade eleven mathematics students within the framework of the pre_test and post_test quasi-experimental research method. 64 grade eleven students participated in this study. The concept of derivative was taught using a differentiated instruction strategy for the experimental group (N=32) while a conventional one-size fits-all strategy was used for teaching the control group (N=32). A Conceptual Understanding Test on the Derivative (CUTD) was administered as pretest and posttest groups to examine the differences in their learning achievements. A t-test analysis of the pretests indicated no significant differences, indicating that the experimental and control groups' learning abilities on the concept of the derivative were roughly comparable. However, a statistically significant difference in favour of the experimental group over the control group was discovered in the post test analysis. It was recommended that Mathematics teachers and educators should embrace the use of differentiated instruction while teaching and learning derivative. The researchers also recommended that differentiated education be used over a prolonged period of time and with a larger sample size

The aim of this study was to analyze the need for developing appropriate science, technology, engineering, arts and mathematics (STEAM) assessment instruments (vaild, practical and effective) to improve students’ creative thinking skills. The instruments that have been used in education units have not been fully able to encourage students to think at a higher level in building conceptual understanding and solving their own problems. This study used qualitative descriptive study based on a literature review of the STEAM-based assessment instrument as an effort to improve students’ creative thinking skills. The research subjects were educators and fourth grade students of SD Negeri 2 Tulusrejo, Pekalongan District, East Lampung. The research object was creative thinking ability, assessment instrument, and STEAM. The data collection instrument used an interview guide. Questionnaire. An assessment instrument needed to support the learning process in the education unit to improve students’ creative thinking skills. The finding indicated that educators had not fully used assessment instruments that could improve students’ creative thinking skills.
