Factors of decreasing students interest when learning from home
Background: Distance learning is one solution to replace offline learning, with distance learning. foster interest in learning for students because without interest the learning objectives will not be achieved. However, the implementation of the current distance learning system does not rule out the emergence of several problems in the learning process. Starting from the limited facilities of students, lack of understanding of the use of technology, the difficulty of internet networks in some areas where they live.
Purpose: This research aims to find out what causes the decline in interest in learning in low-level elementary school students in distance learning.
Design and methods: This research uses one type of descriptive qualitative research with a case study method or approach. The subjects of this study were elementary school teachers, parents, and low-level elementary school students. The technique that researchers use in collecting data is the data triangulation technique.
Results: The research result states that the factors that cause a decline in the learning interest of low-level elementary school students during distance learning are caused by several internal and external factors
A bilingual news webpage ideology translation
Background: Cultural problem commonly arising in translation is related to the cultural differences between the two languages involved. However, deciding what ideology should be used in the translation process is complicated.
Purpose: This paper aims to give the explanation to the readers about the type and dominant ideology of translation in the article of www.Berita2Bahasa.com.
Design and methods: To answer the purpose, this study uses the descriptive method to analyze those articles. The data were gathered based on news from May 29 – June 3, 2017. To analyze the data, first step is deciding the right topic, writer chooses the article. The writer also prepares the theories to support the analysis
Results: This study revealed that in each article of www.Berita2Bahasa.com, the translator uses 2 type ideology of translation, those are Domestication and Foreignization Ideology. Most of articles is dominantly used domestication Ideology
The influence of animation video media on the Arabic vocabulary mastery of grade VIII students of MTs Asnawiyah
Background: Students' difficulties in learning Arabic are due to their lack of mastery of Arabic vocabulary and this affects other Arabic language skills. The learning that has been less interactive so far due to the lack of variety of teachers in the use of learning media, improvements can be made by utilizing existing media to assist the learning process
Purpose: This study aims to determine the effect of the use of animated video media on the Arabic vocabulary mastery of class VIII MTs Asnawiyah.
Design and methods: The method used in this study is the quantitative method, the type of experimental research and the research design using a quasi-experimental design with a pretest-posttest control design. Data collection techniques by means of observation, interviews, documentation and tests, namely pretest and posttest in the experimental class and control class with a total sample of 86 samples.
Results: The final results of this study indicate that there is an influence of animated video media on the vocabulary mastery of class VIII students of MTs Asnawiyah, this can be shown from the results of the study which were measured using Mann Whitney and obtained a sig value of 0.000 where a sig value of 0.000 <0.05
Imperative sentence distribution on a novel
Background: Novel readers from Indonesia, especially students, are less able to distinguish the types of sentences.
Purpose: This study aims to describe what are the kind of imperative sentences on Divergent Novel.
Design and methods: The method used in this research is descriptive analysis method. The data that the researchers used as material for analysis were obtained in the novel Divergent by Veronica Roth. The procedure is as follows: 1) Selecting the data, obtained by marking parts of the text that are considered important and in accordance with the formulation of the problem; 2) Arrange the data in a systematic structure by grouping the data according to the research objectives and classifying the data into a data corpus; 3) Analyze and interpret data according to the elements studied. Based on the findings on step 2.
Results: This study revealed the total imperative sentence found are 106 times. The details are as follows—the command category consists 41 times, the request category consists 28 times, the invitation category consists 4 times, the suggestion category consists 20 times, the advice category consists 7 times, the prohibition category consists 4 times, the compulsion category consists 2 times
An independent character of students in learning during the pandemic
Background: Online learning is carried out as the right step to prevent the transmission of the Covid-19 virus, so that students will not miss lessons as planned in the curriculum for one academic year. When students learn at home following online learning provided by the teachers, parents are not always present to accompany and monitor the learning process of students, so inevitably independent learning is needed so that students can participate in learning activities and be responsible for complete the task of learning each subject. Teachers and parents must work together to supervise and encourage students to be able to learn independently.
Purpose: The purpose of this study was to determine the extent to which elementary school students' independent character during distance learning as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Design and methods: This type of research is descriptive qualitative research. The subjects of this study were homeroom teachers and teachers of sports subjects. The data validation technique of this research is the source triangulation validation technique.
Results: The existence of good examples and cooperation between teachers and parents will help students to be able to imitate and do so, so that awareness and habits will be formed in students to become humans who are full of responsibility with their duties. From the online learning process that is currently being carried out, it is hoped that the teacher is not satisfied with providing material through one learning application that is commonly used, especially in elementary schools, which is only through the WhatsApp application, the teacher can provide learning materials by making learning videos that are easy for students to understand. By considering the number / portion given, so as to minimize the stress level of students, especially by giving assignments that are always given every day
Parents as chaperones the long distance study results for elementary school students
Background: Student parents are supposed to provide maximum chaperones in primary school study. However, some parents are not at home at all and work late into the night, including the parents of Pasir Jawa 01.
Purpose: The results of student study can be seen from parents' association. Therefore, the intent is to know the parent's relation to the students' learning during long distance study.
Design and methods: The method used was the quantitative method, the collection of data done with Numbers and written documentation. The analysis subject is student parents and student learning during the long range learning process.
Results: This study suggests that there is no or no influence between parent-teaching and student learning during long range study. This is because some of the student parents work late into the night so that the child feels inadequate to his or her parents' attention, when parents are not at home only a few students are accompanied by other family members, a parent's education, parental understanding in operating the technology and the student's parent's cell phone monitoring policies that cause a parent's absence from the results of a student's learning over long distances
Transformation of number head together method as adaptive way from COVID-19 effects.
Background: COVID-19 affects education systems and leading to the closure of schools, universities and colleges. As the consequence, the learning process is done from home in which needs some adjustment on the delivery method of teaching-learning. To be specific, the teaching-learning process is about how teacher and students interact each other based on a certain method of learning.
Purpose: This study aims to investigate to what extent the NHT method can be used for an alternative method in promoting teaching-learning process in COVID-19 era.
Design and methods: The study used library research method which investigates data from the documents, such as articles, news, books etc. related to NHT. The findings are validated by using triangulation data source technique.
Results: the study reveals Transforming the method of teaching from offline class to online class is a way to solve in transferring the knowledge to the students. NHT is one of the many methods can use the meetings conference platform
An analysis of lexical categories in the Castle on the hill song lyric from Ed Sheeran
Background: It’s very important to learn about morphology because morphology is the study of word and sub-discipline of linguistics that study word, structure and form which has components such as lexical categories. This process can reduce ambiguity during the process of correcting the words in sentences.
Purpose: This study investigated the lexical categories in the song lyrics of Ed Sheeran’s album “Divide” entitle castle on the hills.
Design and methods: This study used a qualitative method. Process of collecting data used to identify lyric that has lexical categories. The researcher used some of the lyrics of Ed Sheeran’s album as the data source. The technique of collecting data was content analysis.
Results: The results of the research showed that cases of lexical categories. Based on the data analysis in the song lyrics of Ed Sheeran’s. There are 13 words noun, there are 5 words adjective, there are 7 words verb, there are 3 words adverb, and there are 4 words prepositio
Teaching Pantomime for Elementary Students
Background: The development of digital teaching materials is sought to help teachers in the learning process. solitary materials were selected and believed to be able to be teaching materials that could facilitate teachers in the learning process both synchronously and asynchronously. The learning material referred to in the research is mime material.
Purpose: this study aims to determine the extent of mime learning efforts for elementary school students.
Design and methods: This research belongs to the category of literature study research considering that the data sources mostly refer to document analysis. Documents were collected through various sources, including journals, books, online news media, and video documents related to pantomime.
Results: Pantomime learning for elementary school children is embedded by the government through a number of activity programs on the content of learning arts and culture
Kinds of figurative language in three songs of Disney movies original soundtrack
Background: Figurative language are quite popular in song’s lyric because we can hide our messages or what we had experienced or felt. That became a reason why we should learn more about kinds of figurative language in order to understand more about the real meanings that are conveyed in the songs.
Purpose: The aim for this research is to discover the kinds of figurative language in three songs of Disney Movies Original Soundtrack.
Design and methods: In this research, the researcher used qualitative methods. In analyzing the data, the researcher used Mezo’s theory of figurative language. The source of data for this research are from Disney movies original soundtrack namely, the song entitled “Lead the way” from Raya and the last dragon movie, “Love, brave and true” from Mulan movie and “How does a moment last forever” from the Beauty and the Beast movie. The data from this research are the sentences that had figurative language.
Result: After doing an analysis, there are 21 data appeared. The researcher discovered 6 kinds of figurative language from those data namely, Hyperbole (6 data), Metaphor (5 data), Personification (4 data), Litotes (2 data), Simile (2 data), and Synecdoche (2 data)
