Examining teacher-made English test in a language school
Background: Multiple-choice, teacher-made English tests have constantly been popular due to their immediate alignment to classroom instructions. However, ample studies have indicated the need for continuous evaluation of their quality to allow evidence-based feedbacks for sustained betterment of assessment practices.
Purpose: This study sought to examine the quality of a multiple-choice, teacher-made English formative informal assessment for four classes of high school students of an English course in Madura, Indonesia.Design and methods: Data were collected from the test results of eighty students and put in an excel document. The data were then analysed with a computer application called Conquest to analyse the responses of each of the students on every item of the test. Based on this item response analysis, it turned out that the test could have achieved a higher credibility if necessary, moderations had been taken.
Results: The findings recommend that schools as well as teacher institutions need to provide necessary trainings to ensure in-service teachers and pre-service teachers possess adequate test development and test analysis expertise for continuous improvement of the learning, teaching and assessment practices
Agglutinative language in bahasa Indonesia
Background: Morphology, defined as the internal structure of words, has always played an important role in linguistic typology, and it is with the morphological classification of languages into fusional, agglutinative, and isolation This paper will take one language as an example or object that is Indonesian language, and analysis the morphological typology characteristics in the Indonesian language.
Purpose: This research is to find out the all characteristic of the morphology typology and analysis Indonesian language based on the agglutinative language because Indonesian language has same type with agglutinative language.
Design and methods: This paper using descriptive qualitative method. The author analysis all of morphology typology branch especially agglutinative. To support analysis, the author using theory from other journal to strength the result of analysis.
Results: The result show the Indonesian language is included to agglutinative language based on the analysis
Riko the series (murrotal edition): Surah At-Tin episode as a medium to introduce surah At-Tin to children
Background: Quran's introduction to children has evolved over time. Animation can now be a medium to learn the Quran such as "Riko the Series: Murrotal Edition” which introduces the Quran to children.
Purpose: The aim of this research is limited to how the visualizations constructions of “Riko the Series: Murrotal Edition" in the Surah At-Tin episode introduce Surah At-Tin to the children.
Design and Methods: This research uses a descriptive qualitative method with the video of Surah At-Tin’s episode from “Riko the Series: Murrotal Edition" as the source of the data. Due to the fact, that the research study is limited to the visualization of the episode, the theories that are used as tools in analyzing the data are the theory of Semiotic Significations.
Result: Visual significations are divided into six (6) structures, they are (1) the opening of the video; (2) the section header; (3) the opening of the surah; (4) the visualization during the recitation of the surah; (5) the second reading section; (5) the third reading section. There are two forms of visual patterns found in the video (episode), they are: (1) the visualization related to verses 1 and 2 of surah At-Tin; (2) the visualization narratives which have no specific form in relation to verses 3 until 8 of Surah At-Tin. The video applies repetition (three times) to introduce and familiarize Surah At-Tin. The solid visual signification construction serves as a medium to introduce Surah At-Tin to children.

Parental discourse strategies in Indonesian multilingual families
Background: In Indonesia, the amount of family speaking more than one language recently increase in intensity. They not only speak their official language and mother tongue for daily communication, but do they also be fluent in another foreign language for example English.
Purpose: The present study closely examines spontaneous interactions between parents and children and explore the family members’ efforts to shape children’s foreign language use and learning outcomes. The focus is on the parental discourse strategies which presents a sequential analysis of the child’s language mixing in interaction which each parent and how the parent reacts to that mixing.
Design and methods: To obtain the data, open-ended questionnaires were sent out to five families in which the children actively use English in their daily conversation. Using Lanza’s (1997) parental discourse strategies.
Results: the result reveals that parents mostly follow code-switching in negotiating and enforcing their children to maintain their communication in English
The implementation of Raudhatul Athfal (RA)’s emergency curriculum towards post-covid-19 pandemic: a case study of RA Al-Akhyar in East Cilandak, South Jakarta
Background: RA encounters the challenge of curriculum adjustment during the Covid-19 pandemic. The RA Emergency Curriculum Guide as a reference requires adjustments to be implemented according to RA’s circumstance.
Purpose: The purpose of this study is to find out the implementation of the Emergency Curriculum at RA Al-Akhyar South Jakarta, in the learning process towards the post Covid-19 pandemic.
Design and methods: This study uses a qualitative approach with research procedures involving observation, interpretation and reporting of research results descriptively. The research subjects are RA Al-Akhyar in South Jakarta and the Principal of RA Al-Akhyar. Research subjects are determined by purposive sampling technique. The research instruments are observation and interviews. Observations are conducted to determine the implementation of the curriculum at RA Al-Akhyar, while interviews are conducted to understand the perspective of the research subjects on curriculum implementation at RA Al-Akhyar.
Results: The results of the study show that during the pandemic, the learning time starts earlier. During the pandemic, the learning method focuses on three (3) methods or their combinations, namely; (1) inquiry learning; (2) project-based learning; and (3) problem-based learning. Utilization of Information Technology and the environment around students is well perceived. During the pandemic, the effectiveness of the material for clean and healthy living behavior, as well as literacy and life skills content is increasing. Identifying level and category shift in Legenda Pulau Senua bilingual storybook

Purpose: This study is conducted to analyze translation shifts in Bilingual book story.
Design and methods: This study used qualitative research method in the form of content analysis. Data analysis techniques is the process of organizing and sorting data into the patterns, categories and units of the basic description so that it can be determined the theme and can be formulated working hypothesis as based on the data.
Results: there were 15 data that indicated translation shift in this book, and the category shift were dominantly used. Any shift in the process of translation is normal, as long as it does not change the meaning or the message of the text
Aphorism using and meaning in Raja Mati play script
Background: Raja Mati is one of the famous popular play for college students. It is full of meaning psychologically. The script is about a king whom got dying from sickness. As the death will come, people tend to speak wise. To identify how wise the words is delivered in the dialogue. An aphorism investigation is proposed.
Purpose: This study aims to identify the aphorism in Indonesian version of Le Roi Se Meurt by Ionesco titled Raja Mati. Further, this study investigates what kind of messages that the aphorism line tells to.
Design and methods: This study uses content analysis investigating dialogue in the written script. The dialogues are placed in a table to help investigating whether the line consist semantically an aphorism or not. each row represents a line of dialogue. Next, the lines are analyzed to reveal what is the background of the maxims generated to obtain the main information. To verify the results, the triangulation of the data source technique is used. Verification is used to distinguish between maxims and others.
Results: This study reveals Raja Mati has 4 aphorisms that mostly belongs to line of Machgrit. Aphorism in Raja Mati emphasize the maturity of characters. The content of aphorisms are related to time and action
Negative Politeness Strategies in Collen McGuire’s Utterances in the Novel Savage Land
Background: Politeness is a common strategy that is used by most of speakers; even the English native speakers do such thing to their counterparts as well. It is especially appropriate when someone is making a request, talking on the telephone or engaging in a pleasant conversation with someone else. However, there are different opinions about what is and is not considered as polite since there are distinctions in culture from one country to other countries all over the world.
Purpose: research aims to find out the negative politeness strategies which is used by Colleen McGuire in her utterances as the main character of the novel Savage Land.
Design and methods: This research use a qualitative method. The data source that is used in this research is taken from the dialogues uttered by Colleen McGuire as the main female character in the novel Savage Land.
Results: From the 10 strategies of negative politeness strategy according to Brown and Levinson’s theory, the writer found the total of 4 strategies which was used by the main female character, Colleen McGuire, in the novel Savage Land. Those 4 strategies are hedge, be pessimistic, minimize the imposition, and impersonalize the speaker to the addressee
The effect of home visit on the learning outcomes of class 3 students in SD IQ Al-Islam
Background: Home environment as the first place of education for students should be able to provide a good role for its development. In fact, it is realized that there are still many problematic families or home environments that cause problems for students, especially in the learning process at school. Students' problems can be seen from where the problems come from, both from relationships in the family and family situations. Family problems and family situations can affect students in school in terms of learning concentration and school activities, resulting in decreased student achievement. Therefore, guidance and counseling teachers need to carry out home visits.
Purpose: The purpose of this study was to analyze the effect of implementing a home visit on student learning outcomes.
Design and methods: This study uses quantitative research where data collection in the field is carried out by means of a questionnaire (Questionnaire). The object of this research is the home visit service and the learning outcomes of grade 3 students at SD IQ Al-Islam. The location in this study was conducted at SD IQ Al-Islam and the time of the study was conducted in November 2020.
Results: The results of this study indicate that the implementation of a home visit has a positive effect on student learning outcomes by 96% in grade 3 SD IQ Al-Islam, meaning the better the implementation of the home visit will improve student learning outcomes
Representation of Islamic Children's Song Themes in Omar Hana
Background: Omar and Hana animated series songs can have different meanings; they can be represented. Such meanings are related to habluminallah, habluminannas, the relationship with knowledge, the relationship with animals, the relationship with plants and the relationship with the environment.
Purpose: This study aims to determine the representation of the theme of Islamic children's songs in the animated series Omar and Hana.
Design and methods: This research was carried out using a qualitative approach to content analysis methods with data collection techniques in the form of documents. The data was obtained from the video content and lyrics of the animated series Omar & Hana on the YouTube application of the Omar and Hana channel accounts for Islamic Kindergartens.
Results: The results of this study reveal the representation of the theme of Omar and Hana's Islamic children's songs which are categorized into 6 parts, namely habluminallah consisting of (7 song titles), habluminannas (27 song titles), relationship with knowledge (1 song title) relationship with animals (2 titles). song), relationship with plants (1 song title) and relationship with environment (2 song titles)
