    Get PDF
Abstract onlyThe Document Management System is a stand-alone desktop application that provides the employees of the Department of Budget and Management Regional Office VI a service that would secure the circulars and memorandum documents. The Document Management System will accept an official document sent by the Central office to be scanned into the system thru a scanning module that will use Optical Character Recognition (OCR). The captured image of the scanned document is converted to text and clustered into supervised keywords to facilitate searching using the Term Frequency-Inverse Document Frequency (TF-IDF) Algorithm. The scanned document will then undergo authentication by imprinting a watermark image and a QR Code using the watermarking algorithm using Text Brush Embedding and a QR Code Model 2 matrix code. The Evolutionary Prototyping model was used throughout the system development process. It has phases where system evaluation is made directly by the evaluators and the system is refined based on feedbacks which fastened the system process. Employees of the Department of Budget and Management Regional Office VI evaluated the system and based on feedback, the scanned documents that underwent the authentication process was very secured as the watermark and QR code is imprinted on the document accurately. The features of the system was able to generate a scanned document with watermark and QR Code imprint and was scanned via the verifier that accepted the document as an authenticated and secured copy generated by the system.Includes bibliographical referencesMaster of Science in Computer Scienc

Journal articleThe meaning of food is redefined. Human development witnessed the politicization of food and how key messages were relayed through the food we share or what we simply call ”gastrodiplomacy.” This study was conducted to determine the socio-demographic factors that affect attitude towards office gastrodiplomacy among employees of a local government unit in the Philippines. This is a descriptive-relational study that employed a one-shot survey among 327 respondents. Data were collected using a two-part questionnaire that included questions on: a)socio-demographic characteristics consisting of age, sex, educational attainment, length of service, monthly income, and nature of job position; and the b) researcher-made instrument on attitude towards office gastrodiplomacy. It was found out that respondents had a generally ‘high positive attitude’ towards office gastrodiplomacy, although only age and length of service were significantly related. The findings of this study provide a breakthrough on research on office gastrodiplomacy in the Philippines, where such practice is prevalent yet understudied or has not been tackled at all as of writing

Abstract onlyThis research study aimed to develop and evaluate online instructional videos in teaching volleyball. The IPO (Input, Process, and Output) Model was used as the research design. The inputs of the participants, particularly, the five (5) PE teachers on the content and design of the instructional videos, while the inputs of the one hundred (100) students enrolled in PE4, on their evaluation of the videos were the basis in the finalization of the produced videos. Interviews and group discussions were conducted to gather all data and information to serve as basis in the development of the instructional videos as part of the processes employed. The produced instructional videos were validated by the teachers before it was used. The researcher-made questionnaire for student evaluation was validated by the teachers. Findings revealed that the challenges encountered by the teachers are the following two (2) themes: difficulty in proper assessment of skills and struggling to properly execute the skills. The strategy of the teachers is stated in this theme: Using videos from YouTube and PowerPoint presentation. In designing the videos, comments of the teachers are the basis. The font style, background colour and setting were mentioned in their feedback. Lastly, in the evaluation of learners, two themes emerged: allowing the resubmission, and using of pre-recorded videos, rubrics and live videos. In designing the videos, the comments of the teachers were used as the basis. On the part of the end-users, the students find the videos to have a clear goal related to the topic.Includes bibliographical referencesBachelor of Physical Educatio

    Get PDF
Abstract onlyThe study aimed to design and develop a Filipino module with science concepts. The paper drew attention to the design principles that employ the Input-Process-Output (IPO) model. In gathering the data, a focus group discussion (FGD) was conducted with three Filipino and three science teachers. In analyzing the data, thematic data analysis was used, which involves the identification of themes, and these are; lack of students' background and knowledge about Filipino and Science concepts, strategies opted by teachers appropriate to the level of difficulty of the lessons, student behavior in attending Filipino and Science classes, and use of students' familiar language in teaching. The developed module covered four lessons, which are "Pagkuha ng Mahalagang Impormasyon, Pagtatala, Pagbabalangkas, and Pagbubuod." The examples provided in each lesson were based on science-related topics, which can awaken the curiosity of students, and, in that way, they can enjoy learning. The developed Filipino module was validated and marked as highly acceptable by the experts based on content, activities, and overall presentation. With such results, the developed Filipino module was feasible for teachers to use to teach Filipino to Grade 7 learners.Includes bibliographical referencesBachelor of Secondary Education Major in Filipino and Scienc

Abstract onlyThis descriptive-relational study aimed to explore the career decision-making experience of senior high school students, and the relationship of the variables perceived as facilitators or barriers to the extent of difficulties they experienced in the process. A 3-part questionnaire, composed of a validated researcher-made questionnaire and the standard Career Decision Making Difficulties Questionnaire (CDDQ), was administered to a sample (n=345) of Grade 11 and Grade 12 students from one private and one public secondary school in Roxas City during the school-year 2019-2020. Findings revealed that senior high school students in Roxas City, Capiz, were mostly female, and have parents, who are college educated. They were exposed to career-related opportunities in school, and at home, having attended the high school orientation program, availed guidance and counseling services, and had a primary influencer of career choice. The study found that career decision-making difficulties, in terms of (lack of) readiness, information inadequacy and information inconsistency, were prevalent among senior high school students which indicates their need for focused intervention such as career counseling and professional guidance. Among the variables included in the study, only sex was found to be significantly related to the extent of career decision-making difficulty in terms of readiness. Results suggest that the extent of difficulty in career decision-making, whether negligible, moderate or salient, is an individual experience for every senior high school student who face the developmental task of making career decisions.Includes bibliographical referencesMaster of Science in Guidance and Counselin

Conference paperMost recently, electromagnetic application in agriculture has increased since plant features were altered significantly in response to pre-sowing seed treatment. Moringa has an extraordinary range of industrial and medicinal uses. This miracle tree is an extremely precious plant with great nutritive importance. The aim of this study was to determine the effect of pre-sowing magnetic field (MF) treatments on seed germination and seedling growth in Moringa oleifera, M. peregrina and M. oleifera cultivar 'Periyakulam-1' (PKM-1). These laboratory experiments were carried out at the premises of the Sara bint Rached bin Ghonaim Research Chair for Cultivating non-Traditional Medicinal and Aromatic plants (SRC), PSAU, Alkharj (24°15'N, 47°30'E), KSA. Three treatments were established using a 75 mT (millitesla) MF with 30 min exposure duration to the seeds of: MFO (T1): seeds of Moringa oleifera; MFP (T2): seeds of M. peregrina; MFPKM (T3): seeds of PKM 1. The obtained results exhibited significant effects on most of the germination parameters; mean germination time (MGT), seedling vigour index (SVI), energy of germination (EG), and final germination percentage (FGP). M. peregrina exhibited the best attributes for most parameters compared to Moringa oleifera and M. oleifera cultivar 'Periyakulam-1' (PKM-1). These findings indicate the possible use of MF treatments for the seed germination and seedling growth of moringa that should be considered in further research studies.Sara bint Rached bin Ghonaim Research Chair for Cultivating Non-Traditional Medicinal and Aromatic Plants, Biology Department, College of Science and Humanities, Prince Sattam bin Abdulaziz University (PSAU), Alkharj, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA

    No full text
Journal articleLibraries play an important role in promoting cultural and language diversity, preserving knowledge and supporting educational goals. This paper discusses the ni-Vanuatu Librarians cultural competencies and examines the current programs and prospective initiatives that can contribute to a vibrant cultural identity of the nation. To have a baseline data, the inquiry started with a survey based on the American Library Association Diversity Standards: Cultural Competency for Academic Libraries. This standard was found appropriate as similar concepts are useful in Vanuatu, although some modification for context was required. Overall, the respondents are aware of their competence but recognise that cultural competence has not been integrated into work. Limitations, such as lack of funding, lack of resources making cultural competence not priority were reasons why they have not developed or applied these concepts. The results of this study provides insights on the applicability of this standard for libraries in the Pacific to develop the cultural competence of their staff.American Library Associatio
