Full text availableA seafood market facilitates the transaction of products and services between individuals or entities that purchase or sell seafood. The Municipality of Nueva Valencia, being the major fishing center of the Province of Guimaras recognizes the need to further develop the fishery sector in order to boost the economy of the province and to provide a stable source of livelihood to the community. At present, the Cabalagnan Fish Port which is the only established fish landing center of the municipality, lacks an exclusive selling area for seafood vendors, a cold storage and a fixed drying area which are necessary amenities of a seafood market. In line with this, a two-storey seafood market is proposed to be constructed at Brgy. Cabalagnan Fish Port, Nueva Valencia, Guimaras. The first floor of the structure will include the stalls, offices, cold storage and comfort rooms while the open roof deck is intended as a fixed drying area, venue for the solar panels and will constitute in the rainwater harvesting system. The project study consists of specifications, cost estimates, project schedules and plans for the architectural, structural, plumbing and electrical designs of the proposed structure wherein the structural design was based on the provisions of the National Structural Code of the Philippines (NSCP 2015). The construction of the 600 sq. m. structure has an estimated cost of Php 24,525,407.54 and is expected to last for 156 days. The source of funds shall be finalized after the proposed House Bill No. 3343 - The Cabalagnan Fish Port Act is resolved. Journal articleA water-soluble polyaspartic acid derivative scale inhibitor (PASP-Ho) was synthesized from 3-amino-1-propanesulfonic acid (Ho) and polysuccinimide (PSI) as raw materials. The structure of PASP-Ho was characterized by Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR) and nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy (1H NMR). The scale inhibition performance of PASP and PASP-Ho was determined by static scale inhibition method. The results show that compared with PASP the scale inhibition performance of PASP-Ho has been greatly improved, especially at low concentrations. The scale inhibition performance of PASP-Ho reaches 100% against CaSO4, which is 54% higher than that of PASP at the dose of 4 mg·L−1; the scale inhibition performance of PASP-Ho against CaCO3 is improved by 42% at the dose of 5 mg·L−1. The crystal surface morphology and crystal structure were characterized by field emission scanning electron microscopy (SEM), X-ray diffraction techniques (XRD), and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), indicating that the addition of PASP-Ho enhanced the chelation and dispersion effect, destroying the surface morphology of the crystal. The scale inhibition mechanism was further deduced by conductivity measurement and density functional theory (DFT). The addition of PASP-Ho can increase the surface energy of CaSO4 and CaCO3 scales, reduce the nucleation rate of crystals and inhibit the formation of scales. The scale inhibition mechanism of PASP-Ho is a combination of chelation, dispersion, threshold effect and lattice distortion, but only a little lattice distortion is exhibited for CaSO4 scale.Ministry of Science and Technology of China (State Key Research and Development Plan; grant No. SQ2020YFF0402903

Abstract only. The acceptance of Electronic New Government Accounting System (eNGAS) for state universities and colleges is the key to harmonizing financial transactions and reporting. However, only 25% (one out of four) in Iloilo, Philippines, have fully utilized this system despite the fact that the system is freely available and is prescribed to all government agencies by a circular from the Commission on Audit. This paper investigates the factors associated with the acceptability of the Electronic New Government Accounting System (eNGAS) among State Universities and Colleges in Iloilo. It utilized a descriptive-correlational research design. The respondents were the 59 personnel of the 3 State Universities and Colleges in Iloilo who were directly involved in the implementation of eNGAS. Results showed that respondents perceived eNGAS to be easy to use. Further, the adoption of the same was highly favored and highly accepted. Respondents also perceived the eNGAS to be very useful in all aspects in terms of information quality with slight variations in responses in terms of system quality and accuracy of the output specifically for personnel who are the would-be users of the eNGAS. This includes accountants, budget officers, cashiers, and disbursement staff. It appears that there seems to be no actual impediment to the adoption and implementation of eNGAS in terms of employees’ perception and attitude. However, the management of these state universities and colleges may want to look at some other variables apart from perception that prevent them from implementing the said system.Includes bibliographical references.Master in Business Administratio

Design, fabrication, and testing of a four-bladed horizontal axis wind turbine for electricity generation

    Get PDF
Abstract onlyThis study intends to contribute to the creation of reliable and efficient wind turbine systems in light of the rising environmental concerns and the requirement for sustainable energy sources. This study focuses on the design, construction, and performance evaluation of a four-bladed horizontal axis wind turbine (HAWT) for electricity generation. This study aimed to contribute to the development of efficient and reliable wind turbine systems. The choice of analyzing a four-bladed HAWT and not the conventional 3 blade is because with 4 blades, the wind turbine can produce more torque at lower wind speeds, allowing it to be more applicable for low wind speed areas. Commonly vertical axis wind turbines are the choice for low wind speed areas, although their efficiencies are not as good as those of HAWT's. The research investigated the efficiency of the HAWT through parameters such as power coefficient, cut-in speed, revolutions per minute (RPM), and tip speed ratio. The objectives included designing and constructing the HAWT and evaluating its performance under load and no-load conditions. The data collected were analyzed and interpreted, providing insights into the efficiency and potential improvements of the four-bladed HAWT for sustainable energy generation.Includes bibliographical referencesBachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineerin

    No full text
Abstract onlyFrontline healthcare workers, including resident physicians, are at risk of acquiring mental health issues as a result of providing care during infectious outbreaks of COVID- 19 pandemic. These mental health issues can have an impact on the healthcare workers' well-being and their ability to effectively respond to the situation at hand. This descriptive-correlational study involved 70 respondents aimed to determine the mental health issues and coping strategies among resident physicians working in a private hospital in Iloilo City, Philippines during the COVID-19 pandemic. The data were gathered through a structured questionnaire with a five-point Likert scale, adapted from the CISS-21 and the DASS-21 and were subjected to descriptive analysis and test of the relationship. The findings showed that resident physicians were mostly young adults and most of them were in their first year of residency. The majority of the participants were female and single. The results showed that the resident physicians were experiencing very low to low levels of mental health issues during the COVID-19 pandemic, and the most common coping strategy used was avoidance-oriented coping. The study also found that mental health issues were not related to the profile of the resident physicians but were related to the specific area or department they worked in. Moreover, the respondents’ profile were unrelated with their coping strategies. Resident physicians that are experiencing mental health issues like depression tend to use emotional-oriented coping. To maintain good mental health and prevent stress and burnout, the resident physicians need to use coping strategies that do not exacerbate their current situation. Poor coping mechanisms can be detrimental to physical and mental health and hinder their ability to provide quality care to patients.Includes bibliographical referencesBachelor of Science in Nursin
